Best Repair Shop 07/14/2008 Posted by MsLori234
I recently broke down and had to have my car towed to a repair shop. I orginally was going to have my car taken to the dealer. I called auto advantage and they towed me to their repair shop, they gave me a discount on the tow and then to top it off 10% off parts and labor. I called to get an estimate from the dealer and then an estimate from auto advantage. I decided to stay with auto advantage. I went ahead and approved the repairs. The owner to the repair shop even let me use his Cadillac Escalade until the repairs are done. I was shocked, I have never seen a repair shop just lend out vehicles to customers. I recieved a call the next day stating that the repairs were done and I can come pick up my vehicle. I had the greatest experience there and would recommend you go here.

I don't usually write reviews, but my experience today at Firestone compels me to do so. My car's check engine light kept coming on and my car was running very rough. As I approached the Firestone I was overwhelmed at the number of cars in the parking lot, leading me to believe they would NEVER get to my car, let alone diagnose the problem. Much to my surprise I was greeted by Michael with a pleasant and helpful attitude as he was reassuring me that they could help. Only 30 minutes later my problem was diagnosed. I knew the car needed to be repaired' however, I had to be in a meeting just five minutes away. I was offered a ride by one of the staff allowing me to make my meeting and have my car repaired, too. I cannot say enough about the teamwork of the garage. Not only will I return to this garage, I will tell all of my friends to do so.
Pros: Teamwork and smoothness of operation

Granted, I'm a young 23 years old, but I think that made these guys think they could take advantage of me. Driving a VW as I do, they showed me virtually no respect. The only reason I opted to have my car towed here rather than Wurster's Foreign Car Repair in Franklin was that they assured me it would be done same day (Friday). Friday came and went, and my car was not fixed. They had to order the part, and apparently their supplier does not take them seriously enough to make them a priority. They then assured me it would be done Saturday, and they would call as soon as they knew anything.
Saturday they never called. I called them, was told they would call back, and they never did. Finally on my third call I got some answers. My car was still not fixed. They had gotten a bad part.
Finally, my car was fixed on Monday (three days and a weekend after promised). They had the courtesy to install a new ignition switch (which I didn't ask for) and were so nice as to "keep the bill under $1,000 for me." Furthermore, they broke the housing around my steering wheel and zip tied it back together (as if I wouldn't notice). And now the air bag light is on, indicating they screwed something up with that system as well.
Some places vacuum your car out when they fix it. This place trashes it. I believe that is called DIS-service, as opposed to service.
I paid just to get my car out of their hands, and they will NEVER see it again. If you have any kind of import or expect service, communication, respect, or fair prices, go to a real repair shop.
Pros: Location
Cons: Price, communication, honesty, etc.

I am basing this review on my own personal experience, and though I'm sure there are great service techs and other employees of Land Rover Nashville, my last experience has prompted me to write this warning. My 2002 Freelander has had numerous problems. In January, I brought it in for service for several issues, one of which was the fact that the car overheated and appeared to be leaking coolant. After dropping my car off for a scheduled appointment time on Wednesday, by Monday I had still never heard a thing back even on its diagnosed problem. I had to call myself, and "Kevin" mentioned a few of the other issues but not the overheating/coolant problem. When I mentioned this, he seemed as if he'd forgotten to even look at the problem. He later called me to tell me that the thermostat itself was broken and had been replaced so that I could pick up my car. I picked up my car, and it continued to overheat and leak coolant and eventually just died completely. I had it towed to a non-Landrover mechanic, who could not even get the car to start and said there was fluid leaking from the main gasket. I finally took a look at my service ticket from LR in Jan, and saw in fine print that "thermostat replaced but it continues to leak coolant. This could mean engine failure . . .which could be a problem in the near future." I'm responsible for not reading the fine print, but Kevin told me the problem was the thermostat and it had been fixed. PERIOD! So, instead of my being able to sell the car when it was running for some sort of money, I'll now be lucky to sell it for scraps since it would cost more to get it running than the car is worth. I would never drive a Land Rover again, and if you have one, I'd suggest taking it to AutoTech for service.
Cons: Dishonesty, doesn't fix your car's problem

Because it's convenient to my work, I took my car here to have the brakes done. They informed me that I needed the following:
2 new calipers, 2 new rotors, 2 new brake hoses, system flush?, Grand total - $1,060.
They told me that it was basically an emergency situation and that I was looking at near certain brake failure if I didn't get this taken care of asap.
I picked my car up and took it to the mechanic I usually use and trust for a second opinion. I ended up with a standard brake job, including turning the rotors - Grand total - $215.
Customer Beware!!!
Pros: Usually empty - they can fit you in - there is a reason!!
Cons: Ignorant at best; likely dishonest
