Best Greek Food Around? Definately! 9/15/2006

I recently moved to the Chapel Hill area and found out about Zorba's. I am a huge fan of Greek food and have sampled it around the world. I have to say Zorba's definately sits on the top of the list with the best of them. I had the buffet that night and it was excellent. I do not beleive there was any better way to sample all my favorite dishes. Some must try items are the Yeero, Souvlaki, greek style chicken and potatoes, and oh my goodness the zadziki sauce. Do not forget about the mousaka and the pateetso they were wonderful, the previous were just my favorites. This is only rating the food so far. The service is also of the finest quality. They were incredibly friendly and make sure to make a connection with each customer, not to mention catering to your every need regardless of what it may be. The management/owner even came around and stopped to check on every table herself as well as giving us a warm goodbye before we left. It may have been my best night since moving here and Zorba's is definately my favorite restaurant. Folks it would be a sad thing to miss out on this great discovery. Pros: Food, Service, Parking more

Zorba's is a First Class Greek Restaurant 5/19/2006

Zorba's has modest prices, excellent staff, and gracious management. I have frequented this restaurant for fourteen years, two times a day. I have never had a bad meal. I often meet friends here for a great dining experience. The witstaff is always very friendly, helpful, and prompt. The restaurant is very well kept and very pleasant atmosphere. Overall, I think it's a place that people that like Greek cuisine will enjoy and I plan on continuing to be a faithful customer. Pros: Friendly Staff, Gracious Mamagement, Wonderful Food more

Taramosalata, Pasteetso, and Spanakopita - Oh My! 9/14/2005

I've been to many, many Greek restaurants in my life and I have found that there are two categories of Greek restaurants: wannabe's and the real deal. Zorba's is definitely the real deal. The Service: prompt, helpful, and very friendly. My glass was never empty (quite a challenge for me as a customer) and my waiter kept my table clean at each course of the meal. The food: Though technically not a greek food, Zorba's hummus is simply excellent. I also really liked their Greek salad and Avgolemono (chicken) soup. While I was there, a lady actually came in from UNC Hospitals with a ""prescription"" for Louie's famous Avgolemono soup. As far as entrees, I tried the local favorite, the Yeeros Platter and loved the potato and actually discovered that I like green beans if they're cooked here. Top off the meal with baklava or italian icecream cake. Come hungry. Pros: Friendly, Clean, Authentic more

Zorba's is Awesome! 9/7/2005

We are regulars at Zorba's for the past ten years, and absolutely love it. We always look foward to having great service from the friendly staff and lovely owners. The stuffed chicken and chicken kabob are our personal favorites, and always the best. We love the new decorations, and the warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant has also done catering for us, and birthday parties that were terrific. They took all the hassle out of entertaining guests so we could actually relax and enjoy each others company. Overall, if we are going out to eat, we almost always go to Zorba's because it is the best food and service around. Pros: friendly service, delicious food, warm atmosphere more

Thank you Zorba's! 9/6/2005

Zorba's is my favorite place to eat. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is inviting. I celebrated my birthday there, and Zorba's went above and beyond any restaurant that I've ever been to. The staff was friendly and welcoming, tending to my every need. Our meals were delicious and there were large portions. The owners even came out to wish me a happy birthday and to sing to me. The restaurant even made special arrangements to seat a large number of our guests on short notice. Our visit was one of the most pleasant nights out I have had in a long time. I have used Zorba's catering service, and to my delight the catering was as great as my birthday. Zorba's goes out of there way to make sure that everything from my party to the catering was wonderful. Zorba's is Great! Pros: Attentive waitstaff, prompt service, great prices more

The Best Greek Restaurant in town 9/5/2005

I have been dining at Zorba's for the past 10 yrs...always enjoyed their warm, friendly service and the delicious food....I was very touched when I saw the sign at the Restaurant that they will be volunteering to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina on Monday September 12th...they will be opening on Monday (on their Day Off) just to host this benefit event to the victims through the American Red Cross...I was told by my waitress that the whole staff will be volunteering for that event on Monday. I wish we had more Resaturants like Zorba's!! Keep up the good work!!! Pros: Excellent food, Romantic, reasonable priced more

Consistently Great Food and Service 9/5/2005

I am a frequent customer at Zorba's and have never been displeased with the food or the service. Very friendly staff and I always feel welcome and as if I am their only customer. The Greek Salad, they Yeero, the Chicken stuffed with spinach is just wonderful as is Louis' chicken soup. And both Louis and Iris have big hearts and value their customers--most of whom they know by name. After being there only a couple of times they recognize repeat visitors, unlike many restaurants where I have frequented. Great food, great service and the lunch specials are very reasonable. Pros: Good Parking, Seated Quickly, Pormpt Service more

Simply dreadful service. 5/24/2005

My colleagues and I have been frequenting Zorba's for quite some time. Today, we arrived in advance of the lunch rush with a moderate sized bunch. The staff seemed entirely put upon to arrange tables to accommodate us. Overall, the service was horrifying and literally sloppy. Meals were not served in a uniform fashion, items were omitted all together, and silverware was dropped on to the lap of a patron. The coup de grace was being scolded by our server, as we were not returning answers to her questions in a rapid enough fashion. Most of us were simply stunned by being barked at. Again...this group has been a loyal lunch bunch for some time. Sadly...today was our last visit. It is one thing to have a bad day (operationally). It is another to make the patrons suffer for it. more

Great Meal 7/9/2003

My friend and I tried Zorba's because we wanted to go somewhere we had both never been. We were very pleased with our dinner experience! The red, black, and white decor was appealing and different, the ambience was conducive to good conversation, and the food was great! I had the yeeros (gyros) which were very tasty, and could hardly finish half of it after having eating a tasty house salad, warm bread, and spanikopita appetizers! We particularly liked the deep indigo water goblets. Pros: great food, not crowded, appealing decor more

A great find! 11/26/2002

I wanted something different for my 21st birthday dinner.. and I got it! The food a zorba's is excellent, I had the Gyro Platter... I recommend the rice over the potatoes, however, my friend that doesn't like real potatoes (she only eats the mix)actually liked these... The Chicken Athenian is to die for and the tzadziki sauce is very flavorful. The best thing was the greek salad... The atmosphere of the restaurant is great if you want a very laid back place, as you will probably be the only ones in there. Our waitress was very hosipitable. She sat people at 9:59 when the restaurant closes at 10pm.The prices are very reasonable... I don't think there is anything over $13 and that comes with a salad. more

Chapel Hill's Best Kept Secret 9/26/2002

I don't have the slightest clue why anyone would give Zorba's the lowest rating possible. For three years now, I have frequented Zorba's and enjoyed the most authentic and delicious greek cuisine in the Triangle. I think Zorba's is one of the best-kept secrets of Chapel Hill. The food is unbelievable, the service is excellent, and privacy of the booths is unbeatable. I encourage everyone near and far to indulge in this authentic greek experience. P.S. try the yeeros plate, you won't be disappointed. Pros: food, service, privacy more
