Bay Trip Review Only\r \r Ok folks, I have been fishing both of these companies for the past 7 years. \r \r Let's be realistic:\r \r If you took a 4 hour bay trip on either companies boats, you got a great deal!!!\r \r $25 Adults\r $15 Kids\r \r Included on both companies boats for the minimal fee includes:\r \r Free use of Rod and Reel\r Free Bait\r Deckhands to help you with fish if you catch some\r 4 hours on a boat in the bay\r All the fuel the boats uses\r A Licensed Captain and a safe environment (Coast Guard Certified)\r Galley - Concession Stand (For a fee, see below)\r \r Possible on either companies boats:\r \r Island Tour - One or Two of the Captains have vast knowledge to share, if you are on the boat, ask for the short tour... You might be surprised with some cool and fun history of Galveston Island \r \r Dolphins - I would say you have a 90% chance to see dolphins... (The Dolphin Tours cost $15 - $25) (One time in 7 years I did not see them; I take at least 12 trips a year)\r \r Catch fish: This is always a hit or miss.... That's why they call it fishing. I'd give this an 80% chance to catch something. If you don't, please refrain from being upset... See what you have already got for the price above,\r \r Catch a really big fish: WOW - very possible.... My 12 year old daughter caught a 36 inch Black Drum on one of these boats, probably in the 20 pound range. It is possible, but should not be expected. (Please note, I have a favorite company, but for this review I am declining to disclose)\r \r Galley -Concession Stand\r \r Each company has 2 boats, so there are 4 boats in total. \r \r There is one person taking care of the food for all the boats.\r \r 2 boats have flat grills to cook burgers, hot dogs, breakfast burritos, etc\r \r 1 serves beer on the bay trips\r \r All have microwaves to make frozen food (burgers, hotdogs, etc.)\r \r Lettuce, tomato, onion etc available on all boats\r \r All have chips, candy bars, and soft drinks.\r \r Price - What a deal!!! (Beer $2.00, Soda $.75, etc) Folks, if you see Stan or one of his helpers; Tip them good... Stan, if you read this, raise your prices, you deserve it)\r \r One last thing, I mentioned the Deckhands above... These people work primarily for tips.... Take care of them. You would be surprised at the skill and hard work it takes to do this job. \r \r I also promise, if you take care of them, they will take care of you... \r \r From our first trip out, the deckhands remembered us and have done everything from trying to get the Big One for my kid, as well as reserving the whole boat for just my Dad, Brother and Myself. \r \r My deckhand became the Captain and my friend, so enjoy the company on the boats, talk to the people around you, and take care of the crew providing you with the great service they provide\r \r Mike more

Drove 1 1/2 hours to go offshore this morning, 6-26-13. After waiting in line to board almost an hour they came out and said there was engine trouble and couldn't take the boat 40 miles offshore. They could, however, offer a 4 hour bay trip ON THE SAME BOAT. Something smells very rotten. If the boat can do a 4 hr trip safely, then it should be able to do a 12 hr trip. Will not use them again. Spent $25 on gas and $5 on parking. They sure didn't refund that money. Disgusted. more

I would like to start off by saying that anyone who knows anything about fishing should know that locutus65 has no clue about them. A red fish and a red snapper are two completely different fish with completely different restrictions on them. It sounds like the reason the captain only went out to those riggs is because it was rough and he wanted to stop sooner and not beat all the customers up all day trying to get far out and having most people to sick to fish by the time they got there. It sounds like you caught some fish. On bad weather days like that you can't go out expecting to catch the whole ocean. They also give you the option to have a refund on days like that and it looks like you still wanted to go knowing the weather was going to be bad. The capt John always has been a great company that prides it's self on costomer service. The captain and crew are very polite and knowledgeable. They have been in business sence 1946 and have lots of people that have a wonderful time and come back with their family's year after year. I encourage you to come out with your family and let them prove to you why they have been in business for four generations. Oh and yes it is very unfortunate that those people could not make that trip due to engine problems but it's just like when your car breaks down you never mean for it to happen so I don't see how you can call them unprofessional because of that. more

Horrid experience by a very unprofessional company. We had a trip scheduled for 6 weeks. We had out of town family from Wisconsin. While staying a Galveston hotel the night before, we received a call at 8:40 p.m. saying that the trip was cancelled due to mechanical reasons. No alternative was offered except for one name of a fishing guide who was all booked. No one else was available at such a last minute notice as well. I encourage all to find professional fishing guides and business owners, unlike the one we tried to use. more

Not a very good experience 5/10/2009

We chose the 12 hour fishing in the Gulf of Mexico @ $80 per person which includes rod & reel and bait. We originally wanted to use Galveston Party Boats Inc. but both of their boats were being used for 36 hour deep sea trips. So, I had called Friday to make reservations for the three of us. I was told that if anything changed they would call to notify me. Well, we arrived at the boat and when we went to buy our tickets we were informed that this may only turn out to be a 4 hour bay fishing trip because there were 5-6 foot swells farther out. We still had to pay the full amount but would get a refund of part of it if we only stayed in the bay. I?ll have to admit it was a pretty rough ride out. 2 ? hours of up and down and up and down with an occasional sideways roll thrown in. Personally I loved it, but I?m the type of person who could spend all day riding roller coasters. About ? of the people on board were hanging over the rails, in trash cans etc. evacuating whatever they had eaten for breakfast (and I think some were even going back 2 or 3 days worth of breakfast LOL). Well after that things went fairly downhill. Instead of going out 40-60 miles we only went out about 30 miles. Then instead of the captain going out and finding good fish he just went from oil platform to oil platform, he would circle the platform using the fish finder, if he found a school of fish he would drop anchor for us to fish. However, 95% of what we were catching were Angel fish and Spade fish, occasionally someone would catch a sand shark. A few Red Snapper (a.k.a. Redfish) were caught but since they are not in season they had to be thrown back. I caught a 25 lb. Redfish that put up a nice fight. I didn?t mind throwing it back as I?m just a sport fisherman and throw everything back anyway. So, we spent the day oil platform hopping. Pretty disappointing. Needless to say we won?t be using Capt. John?s fishing anymore and I don?t recommend them to anyone. I will have to add this, you could not bring any food or drink on board but they had a snack bar with excellent prices and the deckhands were friendly and helpful Pros: Great snack bar prices, friendly, helpful deck hands Cons: Capt. did not try to find good fish more
