Great view, great family feel. This resort center is located off of seawall, giving all rooms a wonderful view of the Gulf. There are two buildings, one for the hotel and one for the condos. If you are staying here, plan on spending some cash. Don't fret, you'll get your money's worth. There area host of nearby restaurants to enjoy, along with beach rentals, jet-skis, etc. The architecture is not as impressive as the Galvez, but the amenities are comparable and the rooms more comfortable.
Bottom Line: Expensive, but if you can find a deal it is worth the price. Now that more national chains are coming, this hotel will have to drop prices to compete.

I loved this hotel! Galveston is one of my favorite getaway spots, and the Hotel Galvez is one of the nicest hotels in the area. I would definitely come back to this hotel- the spa was incredible! My room was clean, and it was nice to have wireless internet access. The pool area was where I spent most of my time though. The bartender?s were friendly and it was nice to have a swim-up bar. I will be going back to the Hotel Galvez soon!
Pros: Beautiful, clean, great location in Galveston

My husband and I stayed here for a night for our anniversary. I got it for a great deal online and was so pleased with everything. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. We went in December and it was decorated beautifully. We were very pleased with this inn and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I loved this hotel! Galveston is one of my favorite getaway spots, and the Tremont House is so romantic. I would definitely come back to this hotel- the lobby alone is gorgeous. My room was clean, with an adorable bed that you would never find in a standard hotel. The Strand District has some great shopping so make sure and stop by there; it?s very close to the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway.
Pros: Beautiful lobby, nice rooms

More
Casa Del Mar is perfectly situated directly across the street from a wonderful gulf view. Our family has vacationed in Galveston three years straight and have yet to find a better place for family.
Casa Del Mar is furnished with a small kitchen complete with full size fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, dishsoap, silverware, towels and anything else you might think you would need for a night of home cooking.
The units have one bedroom with queen size bed. There are a set of bunk beds just outside the bedroom which are great for kids but a bit too cramped for a full grown adult. The living room complete with a TV, stereo and a sofa that folds down into a bed holds all the comforts of home.
Our first year we ended up in a horrible hotel sight unseen on the first night. The first night of our stay was July 4 and we were certain we would end up sleeping in our car. We went in person to Casa Del Mar where the wonderfully friendly staff managed to find us a room that had just been vacated.
We had third floor room in the wings, we thought for sure we would have no view but to our amazement there was an absolutely wonderful unobstructed view!
Yes, you could see the people down below and the traffic but not buildings obstructing our view.
Casa Del Mar's structure is two rows set up at an angle and each angled building has another "wing" curved off the back, sort of like a capital letter "Y". With this setup everyone gets an ocean view! However, I do recommend asking for a garden side view if you are not going to go for the more expensive view as looking at the
garden and the ocean is way better than looking at McDonalds and the ocean!
Covered parking is INCLUDED in the price of the room which seems to be rather rare in seawall hotels.
The beach is right across the road, no need to fret trying to find a parking space on the seawall.
If you are staying for a full week, you can get a discounted room rate.
We got a $99.00 room rate for the weekdays but the weekends and holidays were more. Weekends were somewhere between $119.00 and $149.00.
Our first year I think we paid $725.00 for our first week. Last time we paid around $1000.00 but I don't recall how many days we stayed and that included phone charges. Be sure to ask about the specials or weekly rates.
Pros:
*Clean-We haven't seen one cockroach indoors and we did the "towel test on the
floor where you rub a white towel on floor to see if it comes back tar black or not
*Housekeeping comes in daily unless you put up "do not disturb" sign
*Kitchen-great for families or if you don't want to spend all your money on dining
*Enough beds for the kids-Mom & Dad get their own room!
*Great view
*More reasonably priced if staying for a whole week than most hotels
*Two swimming pools-one heated
*Free covered parking
*Awesome staff-very nice and helpful-they even let us pick our room
*Beach right across the road
*Hotel secuity monitors parking lot and buildings
Drawbacks:
*Local calls are 50 cents each
*Checkout time is 11am (I'm a late sleeper)
*The bed is an old standard hotel bed (but hey at least its a bed)
*The air conditioning is noisy which would be fine if the noise was at least consistent but it goes on and off.
*No continental breakfast - but you have your own kitchen
*Common washers and dryers always seem to be in use and if you get to use them you may have to dry for at least two cycles before your clothes are really dry. Either get up real early for laundry or go to laundry mat instead.

The Flagship Hotel in Galveston is great. We stayed there this past weekend and had tons of fun. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We asked for some extra stuff and it didn't come after a couple of hours so I went back down to ask again. Well the manager was there and he said he would get right on it and have it brought up. Sure enough about 10 minutes later it was there.
This hotel is the only hotel on the island that is built out over the water. It has a fishing pier that you can fish off of 24 hours a day and we took advantage of that. It's a lot of fun to stay here. It's right smack in the middle of Seawall Blvd. so you can walk to pretty much anything.
The only things I would have to say about this hotel that isn't great is that it needs to be updated a little. The elevators are a little rough and some of the walls need painting but other than that it is great. I will be staying there again in the near future. I'm going back down in a few months.
The views from any of the rooms are spectacular and the hotel has been remodeled some recently. The sheets are nice and clean and the rooms are a very good size. We were in the room with two double beds and it also had a chair and ottoman. Well we added a roll away bed and it was also a double. The three beds fit great and there was still room left over.
This hotel isn't the most luxurious but it is more than worth the money. And there are 2 large topless mermaids outside of the building. I even have pictures from the stay there and of the mermaids.

Hotel spaces on the island are not sparce, but decent-sized, comfortable rooms with a great view are. If that's what you want, stay here. Located on Harborside, all rooms have a view of the harbor. Each room is a loft style with comfortable furnishings. Proximity to the Strand is a plus, but you'll have to drive if you want to visit the beach (or rent a bike somewhere). Prices can be reasonable if you come at the right time, but certainly cheaper than some of the other hotels on the island.
Bottom Line: Great view, great room, competitive price.

It was like staying in your own home, but we the ones being spoiled! the house was quiet, relaxing and clean. the food was wonderful and lana makes a great hostess. she made my engagement even more special - the chocolate covered strawberries were oh so delicious and the champagne was bubbly and cold! i cant wait for another chance at a weekend get-a-way!
Pros: Off the touristy strand and seawall areas
Cons: I can't think of one........

More 2 years ago
We have stayed at the Islander east numerous times over the years, and although they have been inconsistent at times we consider this to be the best value rental condo on the island provided you know what to ask for.
Stay away from the efficency units, they are very small and cramped even for two people, spend the extra few bucks for the one or two bedroom unit, you will be much more confortable and much happier with the value for the money.
During the booking process, always ask for a unit on the highest available floor. The higher the floor, the better the view. Get too low, and you may get a view of a palm tree.
It is best to make your reservation directly through the front desk rather than a travel site, and ask if they have any delux upgrades. Each unit is individually owned so some are fabulously decorated and furnished while others are much more conservitive (The front desk staff knows which is which) Also, they greatly exagerate how many people each unit will comfortably sleep, one bedroom means ONE bed, the rest sleep on pull outs so if you expect a great nights sleep get the larger unit.
Pros: Location, view, room size compared to competors
Cons: Some units nicer than others, service can be inconsistant at times
