This is our new breakfast spot after searching for a good one in Renton for some time we came across Whistle Stop and went back two days in a row. They do poached eggs right and have a great spicy bloody mary with thier own spice mix! The ale house atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly. The servers we experienced were friendly and happy to accommodate our special requests for extras- napkins, syrup, salsa, and even switched out our jam for a flavor we liked. They may not look polished, but they are more than willing to do the small things that make for a wonderful experience. The kitchen also mixes up a daily fritatta that is worth a try. We waited for eternity, after ordering, to get our food and when it finally arrived they forgot the pesto and artichokes on my pesto artichoke sandwhich. By the time they remade my sandwich everyone in my party had already finished eating. It was ridiculous! The family that was sitting at the table next to us actually had to start to walk out of the restaurant, with their two kids, before the waitress finally gave them their bill. The father was obviously irritated at how poor the service was. This is the 3rd time I have had poor service at the Whistle Stop and I won't be back!! I had a somewhat bad time a couple of weeks ago in this place, having moved to Renton and wanting to see what is local. Poor customer service, food was good, but just not much into customer service. Like a previous review, seated very quickly, but then some we got lost and there was a very empty place. When we finally paid, the waitress asked if we we looking for a property manager for our house because she was starting a new business. We say no, but I was thinking, even if we were, not with the service we received here tonight! We went back tonight, Aug 24, and were going to give it another shot and was seated very quickly, but again no customer service, this time it was full and there was an extra large group of people there that had a few too many. Loud and very noisy. We finally ordered a water and an iced tea and took a couple of drinks and that's when the large group started to use foul language VERY loudly. I use it, but not in crowded places, in public. And where was the staff to quiet down the group? No where in sight. I walked to the kitchen, offered to pay for the iced tea, was told don't worry about it and we left! Did I mention, the staff had to yell that answer to me. Helpful hints to the staff: It may be a large group, but it may be a one time visit, but in the long run, locals are the bread and butter of your business and should have to "run" out of your place of business. Others were offended as well, I just know why they stayed and why they didn't say anything? Must be because the staff was hiding in the back???? My husband, son and I had great things about this place, so decided to give it a shot. The food was really good, and it was super busy (6:30pm on a Thursday) and while we were seated promptly, the service was incredibly slow and not responsive. We asked three times for water and from the time we ordered, it was almost 40 minutes until we got our food. The meat in our burgers was lukewarm, and bun cold. No one ever came back to check on us. On the upside it was tasty. I might try it again, but not anytime soon. more

My husband and I have made this lovely little restaurant our "date" place. It's casual and always welcoming. The staff there always remembers us and what we like. The beer menu if fantastic and is constantly being updated. I tend to lean toward the burgers and their cranberry gorganzola salad is fabulous. My husband loves their daily specials which is very interesting (Blackened Salmon Burger, Anduille Sausage with Cream Cheese and Peppers). The owner will come right out to greet and chat with you and the bartender will remember your drink and the waitresses will tell you like it is. It's wonderfully refreshing and I always look forward to coming back. If you decide to do dinner there, DEFINITELY go for the Teriyaki Skewers....YUMMY!!! This is one of my favorite places to eat. It has it all...a great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I highly recommend it. more
