University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin 3/31/2006

This place was an exceptional place to get a computer science degree. I was accepted in to Madison and was recommended by a few people to check out UWMilwaukee. After seeing the education has to offer in that it actually teaches C++ and not Java based, I ended up getting a great job in corporate America. Whereas my counter parts at other UW schools and even private schools are still looking for work because C++ programmers are in demand. I highly recommend this school for CS, because you have a better chance at getting to work i n your field; This field is just about all overseas now =( more

Your education is what you make it 9/24/2005

I've been to three major universities in different parts of the country; ISU, BYU, and now UWM. UWM offers a comparable education but as another reviewer stated getting a truly great prof. is really hit or miss (but where isn't it) The great profs were amongst the best I've encountered at any university. Currently the school has seen an influx of new students and the dorms are completely full (if not overfull) so it might be best for freshmen in the future to weigh their housing options differently of they could find themselves in a closet sized room with 3 other students. Anyways, its a good school that can be challenging and is part of a great school system (UW) more

I received a pretty decent education... 8/11/2005

It's hard to review a college because every person's experience there will be completely different. Overall I really enjoyed the 3.5 years I spent at UWM. I started there in 2001 and was lucky enough to get into the dorms. I spent 2 years living there and the remaining time living in various apartments and flats. UWM is a good school with adequate to excellent professors. I studied architecture so being a part of the School of Architecture gave me a different perspective than say, an education major. Being an architecture major you are constantly spending money on supplies, rental computers, etc. It was very frustrating at times and didn't help when the school did not quite help with your learning (i.e. not offering AutoCad courses, not having an entirely capable administration staff, etc.)... however the plus side is that architecture majors spend a lot of time together, gain close familiar relationships... they are like a family. and openly accept your ideas and suggestions. For the most part I enjoyed the classes, thought there were plenty of outside activities and clubs to take part in, and make plenty of friends while I was there. There are so many things going on that you really didn't have time to be bored..... more
