It's hard to review a college because every person's experience there will be completely different. Overall I really enjoyed the 3.5 years I spent at UWM.
I started there in 2001 and was lucky enough to get into the dorms. I spent 2 years living there and the remaining time living in various apartments and flats.
UWM is a good school with adequate to excellent professors. I studied architecture so being a part of the School of Architecture gave me a different perspective than say, an education major. Being an architecture major you are constantly spending money on supplies, rental computers, etc. It was very frustrating at times and didn't help when the school did not quite help with your learning (i.e. not offering AutoCad courses, not having an entirely capable administration staff, etc.)... however the plus side is that architecture majors spend a lot of time together, gain close familiar relationships... they are like a family. and openly accept your ideas and suggestions.
For the most part I enjoyed the classes, thought there were plenty of outside activities and clubs to take part in, and make plenty of friends while I was there. There are so many things going on that you really didn't have time to be bored.....
