As a former repeat customer of Toadflax for the past 5 years, I am extremely appalled by Tom (the owner’s) recent service. After receiving very expensive roses from my husband, the roses inexplicably died within 48 hours. I spoke with the owner to inform him how surprised and disappointed I was and he was terribly abrupt and extremely defensive. I did not request replacement flowers nor ask for a refund. I had not exposed my bouquet to cold weather nor were they lacking for water. Toadflax is VERY pricey and I would think for the prices they charge, they would stand behind their product or at the very least be kind to their customers. He briskly told me to take my business elsewhere and he couldn't care less. He is the rudest of men. Truly a toad. Cons: Extremely rude owner more

Toadflax has a charming atmosphere and friendly customer service. I've been there twice to pick of Kiehl's products, of which they carry a good but not complete range. They also stock malin+goetz and are happy to provide samples of new products. At one point, while considering purchasing the Kiehl's shaving cream, I asked a sales lady her opinion and she offered it honestly: look elsewhere. I appreciated the honesty: not every line produces equally good products appropriate for every skin type. Pros: Friendly service; new products added regularly Cons: Business hours not posted more

Every time I buy flowers from them, I give them free rein and a dollar limit. NEVER has my wife failed to be stunned by what she gets--even though I don't usually find out until much later what they did. Flowers are invariably perfect (I have no idea how they get them) and the arrangements beautiful and unusual. And they tend to last at least a couple weeks. Toadflax's flowers smell good, too, unlike the colored cardboard that many florists sell these days. \r \r Can't say enough good things about them. I likewise can't address the naysayers' comments. I've never had poor interactions with the Toadflaxers. Perhaps their secret of keeping their business excellent is by avoiding folks with negative attitudes. Pros: Great stuff. Toadflax has the most amazing storefront in Pittsburgh. Every time I walk near their store I think they do not have any windows and that you can just touch the beautiful flowers. I don't know how they keep the floor to ceiling windows so clean. They have their store decorated with so many nice plants and beautiful flowers. Their flowers are worth what you pay for them. It is well worth a trip to the store. A classic florist for Pittsburgh that is easy to work with. more

I recently inquired for a job position and the owner was a complete snobbish jerk to me. I had just graduated from a top 20 university and he accosted my major and blew me off as I was a high school student and getting married no less, so I was of no use to him. He was just downright mean. Don't go in there to shop ever! I certainly won't EVER go in there again and I don't recommend it. I hope they go out of business. period. more

I need to kiss a few more TOADs in order to find my prince of flower shops. Prices are astronomical, plants are no better quality than, say, Home Depot, and customer service is dead. Pros: Unique selection, Decent quality Cons: Awful service, HIGH prices more
