Editorial review from Citysearch 11/30/2013

Just had a cut and partial highlights done here. I absolutely love it! A friend has recommended to go there and the fact that the salon uses Schwarzkopf ?hair color was a definite plus. It was quite a drive - coming from Chapel Hill, but it was worth it. The owner, Anna, did a great job with my haircut. I got a haircut I was dreaming about for many years, yet was not able to find a stylist who was able to do it properly. I have thin hair and Anna created beautiful layers that suits perfectly my type of hair. I'm so glad I went there, now I have a haircut that makes me look 10 years younger! Anna cut my hair VERY professionally, very thorough. She also did partial highlights and they are great - in exact color I wanted. Love it! I highly recommend this salon. A+++++ more

Hair Stylist in Cary 1/10/2012

I was very pleased with this Hair Salon, as I had gone with some trepidation from bad experiences in the recent past.\r Andrea gave me a very nice cut, per my requests and styled it to my satisfaction.\r The staff was friendly and welcoming, the place was clean and cheery.\r I definitely recommend this to anyone who seeks good customer service and professionalism. more

So Happy I found a great Hairstylist!!! 5/14/2011

I had just moved to Cary, NC and looked up Hair Salons in the area...I moved from LA and I have been going to the same Stylist for 13 years and was very hesitant to trust anyone with my haircolor. It is very intricate, I have multi-dimensional colors in my hair and I saw Gina's bio and figured since she is from Miami I would give her a try...She matched my base color and hi-lites and low-lites perfectly. I was so happy, I was actually going to fly back to LA twice a year for my hair but now I don't have to!! Not only is she an awesone Colorist but so sweet, friendly, and warm hearted, I felt so comfortable with her... I would recommend her to anyone who wants to look as great as a celebrity!!!! more

Great Haircut! 11/7/2010

I love the haircut I got from Studio 180 Salon. Gina did a great job with me hair and even fit me in the schedule on a Friday night. The staff was really nice and I loved the atmosphere. Gina gave me styling suggestions on how to get my hair to look the way she had it and it turned out great! more

Gina: A hairdresser you can trust! 10/24/2010

Having just moved to Cary, I really wanted to find a hairdresser who I could trust and return to time and time again for a great hair cut. I did first time! Gina highlighted my hair for me and gave me the exact cut I had pictured in my head! The highlights are fab and my hair feels so healthy, full and vibrant again! I will certainly be going back again and again! The salon has a really great feel to it, and there is a very relaxing and personal vibe to the place. I love it! Thanks again so much Gina and the girls! See you soon :) more

Wow - Now what do I do? 2/11/2010

I wear a short bob type style & wanted it the same way but with the bulk cut out. Some areas needed to be kept a little longer such as on the sides where it could tuck nicely behind the ears.I asked that the ends be cut so it looked wisked & showed a picture. MY ENTIRE HEAD OF HAIRS WAS wisked into a 2"" all over pixie sort of do! This style is cut on some people I suppose, it wasn't what I asked for.. The views from the side & back are unattractive as is the subtle highlights that I originally had which now looked...well, chopped. I loved reading all the reviews, but will think twice about paying much attention to any internet review in the future. Pros: Friendly - very nice..but Cons: Kept cutting, cutting...NOT WHAT I WANTED more

Great Atmosphere, Friendly Environment 10/28/2009

Being new to the area, I stumbled upon this place, so in dire need of hair service (cut and color) I decided to give them a call to see if I could get worked in. The receptionist was able to fit me in asap. I arrived a little late because I got a little lost, and as soon as I arrived, the staff was amazingly friendly and my hair dresser ""Andrea"" took me right back. She had great conversational skills and it felt like she had been my hair dresser forever. The owner is extremely bubbly and made me feel right at home. My initial call was for a cut, be she squeezed me in for color as well. I am one who is very particular with my hair and color and Andrea did a GREAT JOB!! I don't think I gave her enough credit. Thank you Andrea!!! Not to mention that on your first visit you get a discount of 20%. Tell me that not great!! I advise anyone to stop by and check it out!!! Pros: Great Customer Service more

Best Salon in the area 10/10/2009

I went to Studio 180 after reading reviews on Citysearch. I have been to several ""top"" salons in the past. I have to admit I was apprehensive about getting my hair done at a place that I was not too familiar with. I can honestly say this is the best color and cut that I have had in years. Andrea did a fantastic job with the color, cut and style. MANY people remarked at how beautiful it looked. I will definitely be coming back again.... SOON!! Pros: Reasonable price, nice people, great color, cut and style more

Very Nice people, but where's the style? 8/21/2009

I'm growing out my hair and I went to this salon based on the excellent reviews. Not sure if I will go back, because I asked to have my hair styled in a manner that I could reproduce and somehow I didn't get anything. I walked in with close to what was produced, so there was nothing offered on the styling front. I liked them and they were very nice, but I wanted some style to do for my hair and didn't get even a suggestion. It was a big let down for me. Pros: Very nice folks, Cons: no styling suggestions more

no more worries! 2/10/2009

I visited studio 180 w/ much anxiety last friday. i had not had a cut since moving to the area in july out of fear, ... and thankfully i can now say i have found the salon for my self and my 12 year old daughter. andrea gave me a whole head foil highlight w/ cut and did a wonderful job...she cut and colored me perfectly...i love when i can go out after a cut & highlights and others comment on how good my hair looks as well as how natural it looks. my daughter also throughly enjoyed going back to school and getting rave reviews from her fellow classmates. thank you so much andrea! \r at ease in apex!! more

Best Salon in the Triangle 1/21/2009

This is the best color and cut I have had since I moved to the area. Service was on time, professional, and very skillful. Anna listened to what I wanted and consulted me about base color and highlights. She is friendly and personable. My hair looks awesome. Thanks so much, Anna. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Pros: Ambience and skill more

Prompt and Flexible 12/2/2008

Over Thanksgiving break when everyone is so busy or out of town, I desperately needed a hair appt. One of my co-workers goes to Studio 180 and highly recommended it. So, I tried it. I left a message and within 20 minutes received a return phone call. Fortunately, the stylist was able to work me in the same day! She did a fantastic job, understood exactly what I wanted to do with my hair and I felt relieved. Everyone was really personable and I got 20% off since it was my first visit. I would definitely go back. more

Simply The Best! 11/25/2008

I've been a faithful client of Studio 180 since its inception. My hair has been every length, color and style imaginable. I've had perms, foils, razor cuts... I've tried just about everything and the Studio 180 staff are the only stylists I've ever trusted enough to do it. No matter what color I changed to, my hair has never been damaged. The stylists at Studio 180 also give excellent advice on hair care and carry a stellar line of products that are definitely worth trying.\r \r When I first came to Studio 180, they had to fix the work of a variety of stylists and colorists. No matter what you've done to your hair, they will know how to fix it... the healthy way.\r \r I'm a local model and vocalist, so my appearance is very important. I've also been a highlighted blonde for several years and receive compliments daily on my cut and color. Studio 180 uses the highest quality color products available. They are also on the cutting edge of the latest techniques and processes because continuing education is a top priority. If you're considering having something new and different done to your hair, the staff will explain every option in detail for you. They want you to be completely comfortable when making a big change.\r \r I don't go three days without someone asking ""Who does your hair?"" and ""Can I get her number?""\r In fact, my mother's best friend just asked me yesterday.\r \r They say Cinderella's life was changed by one shoe.\r I say a life can be changed with the right hairdo.\r Mine was... Blondes... STAY AWAY! 11/21/2008

My initial reaction is that the place was great! I had a late appointment, so I was the only one there, but everyone was really friendly and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately, it all went down hill from there. I have long blond hair, and I went in to get a full foil done to brighten the blond and get a haircut. Normally, I would only go to a trusted stylist, but I just moved to the area and the reviews seemed pretty strong. First of all, putting the actual foils in took literally over 2 hours. I understand this takes a long time, but that amount of time is a little outrageous. To make things worse, when the foils came off, the color of my hair was not blond, but copper! I am talking like the color of a penny copper! The stylist seemed surprised that I hated it, too! So, she put me back in the chair and covered my head in some purple goop to make it ""less bronze"" and it still was hideous! Now about 9:45 at night, the stylist had to call in the salon manager to come in and fix the mess she created! Another layer of God knows what was put on my hair, and it still looked terrible. At that point, it was about 10:30 or 11:00 at night and I just pretended to like it so I could get the heck outa there! I went in for a color and cut, but there was no way I would let that stylist come near me with a pair of scissors after the disaster of a color treatment I got! It's been awhile since this happened and I STILL cannot get the ugly color out of my hair unless I chop it all off! To make things worse, I was still charged for everything. I felt obligated to pay for it becuase the poor stylist had to stay so late. She said she would keep a new color forumla in my file so it wouldn't happen next time. Next time? YEAH RIGHT! I will never... and I mean never go back to that place again. Pros: Nice Atmosphere, Friendly staff Cons: Terrible color, inexperienced staff more

AWESOME SALON!! 10/3/2008

I went to Studio 180 Salon yesterday and had THE BEST experience. I had my hair cut and thermally straightened by Francesca. She did an amazing job, I could not be happier. I went in with long, unruly curly hair and left with a fantastic chin length cut and sleek, shiny straight hair. I never thought my hair could look so good. The salon is really cute and all the stylists are so friendly. My service took a long time because of the straightening process and I felt like I was just hanging out with friends. I called a ton of salons in the area asking about the thermal process and found myself most comfortable with the response from Studio 180. I am so glad I decided to go there. I would & will recommend this salon to anyone. They really know thier stuff and are just nice people to be around. Great job! Thank you so much! Pros: Excellent service, friendly people, I can't say enough... Cons: None! more

Amazing Salon, Loved Everything About It! 9/26/2008

This was my first time at Studio 180 and I will definitely be returning. I have had the worst luck trying to find a good stylist that I get along with, trust and can afford, but my luck's finally changed. I was warmly greeted upon arriving, then met with Andrea to discuss my hair color and the look I was going for. She knew exactly what I wanted, and made me feel completely comfortable letting her color my hair. The results were fantastic! Also, the feel of a small privately owned salon made me feel more relaxed rather than the ones with 20+ stylists who don't really care they just want you in and out. I really can't say enough great things about this salon, I have definitely found a new home for my hair. Pros: very talented stylists, great environment! Cons: none! more

Oustanding Customer Service! 8/27/2008

After living in Raleigh for eight years, I can now stop my salon searching. As a blonde (highlights), I'm extremely selective as to how my hair should look. Ana continuously does an outstanding job with my highlights, and I always leave the salon feeling 100% satisfied. Ana's creative, artistic abilities enable her to construct the color/cut that you desire. She has true stylist vision, which allows for me to relax during each appointment knowing that she delivers exactly what I want. Ana also offers suggestions and direction on the latest color trends and styles, and uses only high-quality, yet gentle, products on my hair. If I have an urgent need for an appointment, Ana does her best to work me in, which as a full-time working woman, I greatly appreciate. In addition to Ana's hair-styling capabilities, she is a kind, fun person who puts the needs and comfort of her clients first. As a pregnant woman, Ana has bent over backwards to ensure my comfort, and always provides me with a relaxing, stress-free experience. The friendly, skillful staff coupled with an artistic, pleasant ambiance makes Studio 180 Salon the best in the triangle! Pros: Skillful, friendly staff more

Best colorist in the Triangle 8/22/2008

I can't tell you how many times I say, ""Anna at Studio 180 Salon in Cary,"" as people regularly ask me who does my hair. I also get asked if I'm a hair stylist, which means not only does my girl Anna do a FANTASTIC job, she always patiently shows me how to style it at home (and my blow-drying technique is rudimentary at best).\r \r That last review about no bleaching experience was total BS. As evidence, I present: thatgirlfromshallotte.blogspot dot com. Anna's been doing my hair for 13 years now, and in those years, she's made my hair blonde, black, red, pink and blue while keeping it healthy. That's no small task, as my hair is fine and thin. She made me look my best at my wedding and for my professional headshot for my column in the N&O.\r \r I've sent many people her way over the years, and they've all raved about the service. She's awesome, professionally and personally (so is Fran, who also styles there). They are, quite simply, the best.\r \r Need more of a rec? I live in Five Points and work downtown. I absolutely HATE going outside the Beltline, much less to Cary, but if Studio 180 up and moved to Charlotte, I'd drive there in a heartbeat. It's more than worth it. Pros: Talented stylists, great atmosphere, friendly service more

no experience with bleaching & going blonde! 8/14/2008

I went to this salon based on all the really good reviews. My experience wasn't good. I have natural dark brown hair, and my hair is currently blonde. I went to get my roots touched up. I was originally quoted $65 on the phone.. and was charged $150. She stated she only has 2 bleach clients which was enough to make me nervous, but at that point I already had bleach on my hair. The first bleach process did not lighten my hair enough, and she stated she had only used 20 Vol, which was in no way strong enough and I know that from prior experience, and that she would have to bleach it AGAIN. The 2nd time around my scalp was ON FIRE! I was almost in tears cuz it hurt so much. The 2nd bleach still did not lighten it enough and was there for FOUR HOURS.. and My hair is currently two different shades of color.. which is what I was trying to get rid of in the first place. \r \r However a week has passed and my scalp is now peeling and I have sores on my head from the bleach. I have bleached my hair many times when I was younger and I've never had sores or peeling like I have now. Also, she had 2 other clients scheduled at the same time as me.. so I ended up waiting with bleach on my hair, for way longer than it should have been left on.. while she finished other clients.\r \r MY RESPONSE BACK TO THE BUSINESS\r \r I had called before coming in obviously to get an appt and explained what was wrong with my hair and what had happened at the previous salon I went to, that it was 3 different shades, and the quote I got by anna was $65, it is not my fault that you cant quote right. Also, you stated next time I came in you'd use stronger bleach since it didnt lighten enough the first time.. if you never use stronger than 20, why did you tell me you'd use stronger next time I came in? you might want to get your stories straight. Obviously this lady lies to try and make herself look good. Cons: no experience in bleaching, staff lies more
