Worst

Was caught in SanJose with front pads going metal to metal. I was charged $111 for brake pads, $207 for two new "white box" rotors and $140 for an install. $458!! Thats' for ONE e...

Excellent relationship and quality service 3/18/2016

I've used the Los Altos Skip's Tire store for the last four or five years, and it is an outstanding place. The manager Sam is just outstanding--I have nothing but positive things to say. It is very easy to book appointments there, and I've also noticed that the prices are right within the normal range. I have a 2000 Lexus SUV and a 1998 Mercedes 500sl. They last did a routine oil-change service and fixed the rear brakes. Everything was very good and turned out excellent. If I'm going on a 1,000-mile trip, they will go over things for 1-2 hours and I'll never get a bill. more

Phenomenal service. 1/6/2016

I've been taking my car to Skip's Tire for 17 years and I recommend people to Skip's all the time. They're very honest and being a woman, I feel like they don't take advantage of me. They're straightforward and will tell me exactly what is wrong and give me options on how they'll fix my car and what they plan on doing. One time I got my car back and heard the same clicking noise that i heard before taking it in, so I took it right back to Skip's and they addressed the problem and told me what they thought was wrong and then fixed it again. They're a really great auto body shop and I trust their service completely. more

Overall great service 12/18/2015

I've been going to Skip's Tire's for 15 years and they've done oil changes, put tires on all of my vehicles, fixed the a/c - they've done a lot of stuff for me. The entire staff is fabulous. They go out of their way to do little things for you that other auto shops wouldn't do. You might pay a little extra, but it's well worth the price. I tell everyone I know to go see them because of the great work they do and continue to come back because they treat me like family. more

Excellent experience!! 12/4/2015

Skip's Tire is a business that is willing to go above and beyond for its customers. I needed to get new brakes for my vehicle and spoke with a supervisor at Skip's. He was so forthcoming about the job and seemed to understand exactly what I wanted and was talking about that I decided to have them do the brake work. When I requested a particular type of materials for the brakes, they didn't have them in stock but were willing to order them from one of their suppliers. They also discovered a couple of issues with my car and worked on them too. It did cost me more but I am very familiar with car repair myself and not once did I feel like they were trying to charge me extra or rip me off. I knew that the prices for the repairs and brake change were in line and they even saved the parts for me after the repair so that I could look over them myself. They also drove me home while my car was being worked on and picked me up when they were done with the repairs. The guys at Skip's Tires are just people who are more than happy to go the extra mile for you and bend over backwards to make you satisfied. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! more

Really good 11/11/2015

I go to Skip's Tire for all my car maintenance needs. I've used them for oil changes, brake inspections, anything. The staff there is really great. I did have one bad experience with an employee there but everyone else has been very nice. They're friendly and professional and the mechanics themselves do a really good job. Prices are pretty fair and I am always happy with their work. more

Highly recommended! 10/21/2015

We have been going to Skip's Tire in Los Altos for years. Every time we bring our cars there they are always really good about diagnosing whats wrong and not suggesting unnecessary repairs. Their prices are competitive, and Sam is great! I highly recommend Skip's Tire! more

It's a no-brainer, just go to them 10/2/2015

For the past eight or nine years, Skip's Tire has done everything for my family. Between me, my mom, my sister, and all my kids we take ten cars to them. They mostly do oil and tire changes, but I can just go in if a light comes on in my car and I'm freaking out. I drive in and they come out to figure out what needs to happen. They'll either reset or take care of whatever needs to happen right away, or schedule it immediately. They're very quick, efficient, and reliable. Their customer service is excellent, they're all very friendly. The technicians are 100% professional and knowledgeable. They always explain what's going on and what my options are. Their prices are the best, very competitive. They provide great service all around. more

Great service, knowledgeable staff 9/17/2015

Skip's Tire offers great service and we've been going to the Los Altos shop exclusively with all 4 of our cars for the past 7-8 years. The staff knows all the different kinds of tires, and which ones will specifically help your car. For example, I have a 2004 Prius and they recommended a tire brand that would increase my gas mileage and it was amazing, worked just like they said it would. more

A good place to get your car fixed 9/15/2015

I've been going to Skip's Tire in Los Altos for about fifteen years. They've always done a good job. The manager, Sam, is very helpful and knowledgeable about automobiles, makes good recommendations and doesn't try to rip you off about getting things you don't need. Generally, the team at Skip's Tire seems like a trustworthy group. more

I've been going to this store even before they were called Skip's Tire, about twenty years now. I have a very good relationship with the people there and I trust them. I like to be proactive with my cars, so I bring my cars even before there is an issue. To a potential customer, I would like to say that you can trust their input. I have been a customer of the Skip's Tire in the Los Alto's location since it opened. I have taken my van and 3 other vehicles, including a BMW, Jeep, and KIA. Their prices are competitive and Sam the manager is top-knotch. I would recommend their service. more

A lot more than just changing tires! 8/14/2015

I found an expert at Skip's Tire in exactly the situation I was in. Sam (I think the manager) was very competent and we talked over what we had to do in my car. They replaced the cylinder head in my car and the work turned out great. I went back after the seventy-five mile check and they weren't able to find anything wrong. The car ran quite fine. Overall, they're very good with interacting with the customer. more

2013 Tacoma front brake job 9/9/2014

Was caught in SanJose with front pads going metal to metal. I was charged $111 for brake pads, $207 for two new "white box" rotors and $140 for an install. $458!! Thats' for ONE end of the truck. I had to wait two and one-half hours. Six weeks later my rotors are warped. My option to drive over two hours back to San Jose and pound on a counter was not entertained. Premium Quietcast Bosch rotors are $70 ANYWHERE, premium Bosch pads are $40. It takes an hour to do this job right, most shops are $90 to $125 an hour. Bottom line, I'll NEVER trust these guys with any car of mine again, overpriced shoddy parts, ridiculous wait times. I have more than 40 years experience wrenching and racing cars, and doing my own service. This repair didn't even come CLOSE to what the average shade tree mechanic could do on a pair of jack stands with a six pack on a Sunday. more

Crooks 1/14/2014

The crooks lied about installing new bolts after stripping the old ones. After waiting two weeks for the dealer to deliver the new bolts, I come in and they installed old ones they found on the ground. I looked under after the job was done and noticed they are some still missing. I have spent thousands here on repairs over the last two years and this is what I get for coming in with a coupon they sent me in the mail. Daniel the manager lied to me in person about completing the job With new parts. more

They do the job right. 5/2/2013

I take my car to Skip's Tire in Fremont because I know they will do the job right. The work is done on time, when they say it will be finished. The staff is friendly. They gave me a ride home and came to pick me up so that I could get my car, which was really nice of them. I used to take my car to another mechanic, but Skip's has better service and now I will only take my car to them. more

I have been to Skip's Tire several times. I was just in there to have the 60,000 mile check-up. I find them to be very professional and timely with their work. I have never had a problem with their service or their work. more

Skip's Tire in Fremont has great service. They are very polite and take care of their customers. I have been a customer for years and go there all the time, they have never let me down. I trust the shop, they have honest people working there and I've had no issues with them. When they do an evaluation they give their honest opinion and charge based on what needs to be done. I have no doubts at all when they fix my cars. This is a great neighborhood shop. more

One of the greatest local services in Fremont for tires and and repairs. 4/23/2013

I use Skip's Tire in Fremont all the time. People think it's just a tire shop, but they do full auto service and repairs too. They are very responsive and can fix almost anything. They are true to their timeline, and it's great to not have the car at the shop for a whole week. I recently took my Tahoe in for a repeat issue that they were able to resolve. It had a squeaky sound, so they fixed the hoses and now there is no problem at all. They give competitive quotes and adjust their prices accordingly. This is a great local service. more
