Sahib in Redmond, not Edmonds 1/7/2008

Please don't misunderstand. There was and is still a SAHIB restaurant in Edmonds. This was one of Mr. Sahib's creations and it was fantastic! I say WAS because when he sold it the new owner quite frankly ruined the place. Nothing was the same except the menu. I told the owner that she had ruined a great restaurant. Now, obviously, Mr. Sahib has opened another fine example of his work in Redmond Center. Now that I know that, and I know the kind of quality and hospitality he always puts into his work, I will be rushing over to Redmond for a delightfull meal. So be careful which store you are refering to. Mr. Sahib thank you for treating us one more time to your special quality in dining!! See you soon. more

Delicious with a fresh look 9/12/2007

Last week we went to a see a movie in Redmond Town Center. Once we bought the tickets for a show starting in an hour we walked in to Sahib over looking the box office. As soon as we are in a smiling hostess showed us to our table. It looks like the carpet is recently changed and the furniture is nicely arranged. I am surprised to find crisp red cloth napkin (lot of mid size restaurants are getting away with paper napkins) with shiny silverware. We choose the buffet option and WOW? the items were fresh and I especially recommend the Chicken Biriyani and Fried Tofu. Don't get alarmed (like I did) if you don't find the "Naan" ( tandoori bread) in the buffet. I was about to ask the waiter who was bringing our drinks and saw he was also bringing fresh naans to the table. I had a chat with the owner and he mentioned they bought this place couple of months back and trained their chefs by bringing in a world renowned chef who also gave cooking classes for the general public at Sahib last month. Overall the experience was great with delicious food. Pros: Delicious Food and Great Service Cons: Bar area is undegoing renovation? new owner said "the place will bear a fresh look when it's complete". more

Good place for Indian Food 4/15/2007

Food is really good, cheap except for the carpet and furnitures I love this place. I eat atleast 3 times a week and food is mouth watering. I spoke with the owner about the carpet and was told they have some problem from the leasing office people and they are trying to work it out with them. Once that settels they told they are going to renew it everything. Pros: choices of food, NAAN, desserts Cons: carpet, furniture more

Sahib is a grimy shadow of its former glory 4/11/2007

I used to be a regular at Sahib in 2005, eating there at least once a week. Then my schedule changed and I couldn't travel so far for lunch. Recently I had a day off and decided to drop in for lunch. The restaurant has new ownership and has gone downhill. The carpets a black with grease and grime, half the chairs are cheap metal fill-ins to replace the ornate wood ones that have broken, and the scratched up tables are bare whereas they once were dressed in crisp table cloths. No longer cloth napkins -- there are cheap paper napkins, the thin kind found at hot dog stands. Order a Mango Lassi and it comes in a narrow glass which only holds a few ounces. The naan is still good, but the buffet is smaller and the food is bland and uninspiring. Two years ago the lunch rush meant you had to wait for a table, but the crowd out the door proved it was worth the wait. When I visited last week the restaurant was mostly empty, at 12.30. The new owners are cutting corners and the restaurant is a grimy shadow of its former glory. A major facelift (starting with those filthy carpets) and a new menu might save them, but I'm afraid the damage has been done and this restaurant won't last much longer. It's so sad to see a good restaurant decay and die. Pros: Cheap Cons: Filthy dining room, bland food more

BEST Indian food 12/20/2006

This is the best Indian food we've ever eaten, bar none! The hostess is charming and, if asked, will tell you about India as well as about anything on the menu. She will also suggest a reasonable menu if requested. Everything we've ever ordered was beyond our expectations and beautifully presented. The service is quick and efficient. I've lost track of our visits to Sahib - we take our out-of-town guests there every time, too. Their buffet lunch is fantastic with such heavenly smells that get you going back for more and more delicious food. It's a wonderful restaurant! Pros: Food, service, ambience, parking Cons: None! more

I am going to have to call BS to the back review 2 below mine. This person obviously does not know what he is saying. Go back to Mcdonalds buddy. I never liked indian till I ate here. it is under new management and I admin it seemed shakey in the beginning with the food etc but I think it has improved a lot since. Still one of my favorite places to eat period. Pros: get there at 11am for lunch because it fills up fast. Cons: too crowded at times. more

Best food ever eaten in any Indian restaurant 9/13/2006

Previous reviewer can't be more wrong. Just because one day, one or two persons didn't get good service doesn't mean everybody else had the same experience. I have been places and eaten all over the world, this restaurant is at the top. I have been a regular customer for this restaurant for some time. Service is excellent, food just makes your mouth water, ambience at dinner time is simply marvelous. I urge everybody who reads this review to go and give it a shot at this restaurant and taste the food. Pros: Friendly people, varities of food Cons: music, sometime get stuck in one track forever more

Anywhere but here, a waste of money 8/27/2006

The good reviews listed here must be from the staff. WE could not get refills, or service, the food was tasteless, and get this, they servered BEEF MEATballs, the frozne kind you get at COSTCO, or Cash-N-Carry. The cooks spoke more spanish than Hindi, and no where was there any traditional feeling, or flavor. Better Indian food from the frozen foods isle. The atmosphere was derad, the the food worse. Nuff said. Pros: It was there, and close Cons: Food, service, and atmosphere were terrible. more

NOT ONLY IS THE SERVICE MORE FRIENDLY THAN ANYONE I HAVE EVER MET, BUT THE CHEF AND OWNER IS THE COOLEST GUY AROUND!!!! HEY, ROY, IF YOU SEE THIS, HI!! (ALEX) :-) EVEN IF YOU DO NOT LIKE INDIAN FOOD, I GUARRENTEE THAT YOU WILL LOVE SAHIB!!!! :-) I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE SEVERAL DOZEN TIMES A YEAR, FOR ABOUT 4 OR 5 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS SO INCREDIBLY GREAT, FAST, FRIENDLY, DELICIOUS, SMELLS SO GOOD, AND IS JUST AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! THEY HAVE A WEBSITE (sahibonline.cmo). AND, they cater! yum! i have celebrated my birthdays there, with a mango mousse as my cake! really, i did not have any other cake. they have bathrooms, that are very well cleaned and sanitized. they have authentic indian music as a nice background. the prices may seem a little expensive, but once you taste it, and bring it home for another meal or two, it is WELL worth the slightly high prices. the naan is delicious, well, so is everything else! and they have take out, dine in, buffet lunch, and ferry lunches, that you can eat on the beach, at home, on the ferry, or anywhere else. they have a deck over looking the puget sound, and the deck is on the sunny side of the building!! the tempature is perfect, the food hot out of the tandorrri, and the whole place just bursting with friendliness, wonderful smells, just as good tastes, fast service, and all of the other wonderful things that a restaurant could ever dream of having or being. really, it is that good! yum!!!! wonderful food, service, location, and the menu has a million things that all look and sound delicious. they have a suprisingly quiet kitchen, and about 5 homemade, delicious desserts, including a very good rice pudding, an outstanding mango mousse, and fresh mango ice-cream!!!!!!!!!! yum!!!!!!!!!! :-) you haven't tasted indian, not to mention feeling the tingle on your tongue of "yum", until you have tasted the delicasies at Sahib Indian Restaurant in downtown Edmonds, right next to the beach! :-) Pros: everything! Cons: nothing! more

INDIAN restaurant NORTH, SOUTH and INDO-CHINESE 5/19/2006

jangatahalli Provided by Partner
Sahib, at Redmond Town Center is the best Indian restaurant. Best Indian Restaurant reasons are: 1. Fresh Nans. 2. Buffett has North, South and Indo-Chinese food plus everyday new soup. 3. Everyday different Food. 4. Best Service. 5. Friendly people. 6. Best desserts. 7. Buffett is full all the time, if not just tell them it will be filled before you know it. 8. price is so cheap. last but not the least, they are starting south indian thali vegetarian and non vegetarian for dinner in traditional Indian style with big plate filled with small bowls of side dishes, rasam, sambar chapati or puri, curd, buttermilk. Andra style foods and all different kinds of Dosas. If these are not the right reason to go to Sahib then I don't know, trust me you will be missing out a lot on Indian Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Pros: varities of food, service, desserts Cons: sound system more

Best Indian food in town 12/6/2004

My friends and I have eaten at many Indian restaurants but this is the best by far. The food is consistently amazing (the lamb coconut is tender and flavorful and the garlic naan is an addiction) and the service unparalleled. The staff here are most attentive and friendly, ensuring that their customers are satisfied and they clearly take pride in their establishment. We usually have dinner here on a weekly basis and will definitely keep coming back for more. Pros: Great food, Great service more

Not as Good As the Original 6/25/2003

For those who don't know, this is the second restuarant of the original located in Edmonds. The Edmonds location is a wonderful place - romantic with outstanding service, great plates of spicy morsels served hot and meant to be shared. We were in great anticipation of the Redmond location but sorely dissapointed in the place. First off, the food. We tried the buffet and found a limited selection with little taste at a price higher than other buffets. We tried ordering ala carte and while the food was little better, not nearly up to the standards of the Edmonds location. We will not go back to the Redmond location sad to say but there are too many other high quality Indian restuarants in town that offer tastier food at a better price. Pros: Great location, Beautiful Room, Good Service Cons: The Food more

Best Indian Food in WA 3/9/2003

The previous reviewer could not be more wrong. Sahib is FANTASTIC. I've eaten at Indian restaurants around the world, and this is one of the top five I've ever experienced. Of course the buffet lacks heat, it's a buffet! The variety and wonderful taste of the food is without compare. The only downside is that it is in a mall. Pros: Great food, Lots of buffet choice, Friendly service Cons: In a mall more

So many other Indian buffets... 1/17/2003

jonka Provided by Partner
Although elegant in decor (up there with Chutney's in terms of style), the food was very bland. My wife and I tried almost all of the dishes at the lunch buffet, and it's not just the lack of heat, but the lack of spices, herbs and other seasonings. Note that the price With so many other good Indian restaurants practically in walking distance, go ahead and skip this one. With so many new entries, I wonder if the Indian buffet market will implode like bagel shops did five years ago... Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Bland food, More expensive more
