Queen Mary is great fun 3/22/2017

For me the Queen Mary is a Five Star. She is the only ship from that period of time on the North Atlantic that is left afloat. I have stayed on her at least 15 times over the years. She is much more expensive to maintain than a hotel on the land, so I don't mind paying a bit extra to maintain history. I am old enough to have been standing in the cockpit of a yacht on the ways in the old Lido Shipyard in Newport Beach when Queen Mary came up the coast at the end of 1967. She made her last landfall under the command of her last Cunard Skipper 'John Treasure Jones'...How is that for the name of a Sea Captain? Her bar is to die for and my wife is always way more romantic when on the Queen! Ernie more

I love this boat 2/28/2006

I love The Queen Mary. I know some might find the whole thing boring, but I love her history. I love walking around looking at pictures of people in the same spot I am standing, but over 70 years ago. This is the biggest luxury liner ever built and its just fun to walk through and see it all. You can stay the night if you like. And go into the supposed haunted sections...spooky! more

Queen Mary Hotel 11/26/2005

I once stayed at Queen Mary Hotel when visiting a wedding of my friend in Long Beach. The wedding held there was very beautiful and my hotel room was also pretty high scale - with nice linens and great smell. Customer service was great - towels were changed daily! I always got all of my questions answered by the staff. But it was really pricey!!! more

Queen Mary 8/31/2005

Like the previous poster has said; the food here is just okay, it's not that cheap either. But the plus side is that you're eating on the Queen Mary ship. So afterwards you can roam around on the boat and look at all of the history and artifacts of the ship. Or you could just relax on the side of the ship, overlooking the city of Long Beach and Shoreline. more

Goood Deal 8/30/2005

So the food is ok, not great, but edible and decent. The beauty part is, if you go here, you can stroll around the histooric RMS Queen MMary afterward,, take one of the self guided tours, hunt foor ghosts, orjust watch the action in and out oof the port oof long beach. The rainbow/egless pasta is actuually quite goood as is the salmmoon. If you go, bring a jackket, because even though the whole ship has been refurbished, the outer wwalls of the ship, especially around the windows, can get a bit nippy. more

A very coool fine dining experience 8/30/2005

Aside froom the fact that this fine dining rooom is on the histooric RMS Queen Mary, the foood is exccellent. I'm a little rusty oon my fois gras and escargot, but Sir Winston's serves it up with oold world pinacche. The restaurant is actually quite large with dark stain wood panneled walls. The service is a bit feeble, but thhe foood and ooverall experience makes up for it. If you want too treat yourself and enjoy continental cuisine, hop oon board. You will alsoo get free access too the ship and parking is validated. more

Big Ship 8/20/2005

The Queen Mary is dripping with romance and history... you can almost see the regal affairs of yesteryear just by stepping into the ballroom. Get the feeling of how they did many years ago but with a luxurious twist. Queen Mary is a must stay hotel for the truly unique and romantic couple and we in southern California are very lucky to have it with us. more

Queen Mary Wedding Receptions 6/26/2005

I am writing this in regard to their wedding receptions. I must say they pull off very nice receptions, but for a lot of money. We did have some problems with them though. The coordinator was changed at the last minute before our wedding reception, and things almost didn't get done correctly. They wouldn't let me set up the decorations before hand. They said a florist or whoever had to do it. Well, we did not have a hired florist. We penny-pinched in every way possible for our wedding to be able to have our reception here. Eventually the coordinator ended up setting everything up herself. So, everything worked out in the end for the most part. They didnt get the menu totally correct, we asked for no mushrooms, they have mushrooms, that sort of thing. Oh well, it was still a blast! more
