Retro Cowboy - The name says it all! 10/5/2006

In the downtown area of Fort Worth, Texas, there is a cute little store called the Retro Cowboy. We went in thinking that we could find a cute little shirt or toy for our daughter, but I ended up getting something for myself instead. The store had a variety of western (cowboy) clothing, gifts, and memorabilia. From their website - Retro Cowboy is far from country; it's more like “western with a kick." I think that pretty much sums it up! I bought myself a Dr. Pepper cake mix and frosting mix as well as a “Dublin Dr. Pepper.” The lady behind the counter was very nice – she gave us some history of Dr. Pepper and described the difference between regular Dr. Pepper and “Dublin Dr. Pepper” which they sold in the store. (By the way – “Dublin Dr Pepper” is still made with the original recipe using cane sugar.) If you are in the Fort Worth area and need a cute gift (or a Dr Pepper cake) – I recommend checking this place out! more

Expensive 8/19/2005

This is kind of like a little boutique type place. They have some really cute clothes. But they are really expensive. I went here once and have't been back because i know that i would go broke if i ever bought anything from here. And I really don't think cowgirls were clothes like that. They too would go bankrupt. more

r u a tourist? you might like it then.. 8/10/2005

this place is a good idea that didnt quite work out for the locals. if you are an actual cowboy you would be embarrassed to go in. its pretty cliche. i have seen some jewelry i thought was cute. the prices on clothes are ridiculous, but everything else seems more reasonable. and if they had boots, which i dont remember if they did, they would be outrageously priced because its a touristy place. so beware boot buyers. more

Neat stuff 7/27/2005

OK, I'm local, so Retro Cowboy really isn't for me; I get it. It's in a great location on Sundance Square downtown, and I think its target demographic is middle-aged "Yankees" on their first or only visit to Fort Worth. In other words, it's for tourists. But I still like to go in and look around and see what the Fort Worth stereotypes really look like. The best feature of this place is the real live retro black and white photo booth they have there. Best two bucks you could spend, that. more
