I had a relatively nice cordouroy jacket dry cleaned (it is 100% cotton) here.
The reason I took it in was because it was starting to smell a little smokey, and I was tired of smelling like cigarettes when I wasn't smoking. I requested that it be dry-cleaned (or laundered-- I left it up to them, if they thought it wouldn't damage the material-- after all they're the experts, right?) with the express purpose of removing the smell.
They charged an arm and a leg, and now my jacket smells like someone soaked it in woolite for two days. Yeah, it doesn't smell like smoke anymore-- but I could have done that.
