Lives up to the expectations! 4/19/2009

This place lives up to its NY expectations. I'm from NY and typically can not be pleased somewhere other than NY for pizza. Normally some stuff is OK, but not great. This place, however, is quite the exception. It feels like you fell out of Seattle and into NY for a while. The drive from downtown Seattle is about a half hour but totally worth it. The pizza actually seems like it is from NY. They also have White Ricotta Pizza--a tri-state area specialty. Additionally for the ""whacky points,"" a man with a parrot walked in in the middle and he knew the owners so the owners gave him some pizza---which was quite a site---a parrot who ate pizza. If you are impatient, it is VERY important to order ahead of time (over the phone). The whole enterprise is run by one woman and her husband so it can be pretty slow if you are impatient. The owners are a bit kurt sometimes (reminding NYers of the East Coast and the Soup Chef from Seinfeld perhaps? ), but they seemed pretty reasonably as long as you didn't complain about the speed. The toppings are pretty simple since it really is a 1 or 2 person show, but they do the job. Also there are plenty of subs and pasta that I didn't get to try. Pros: Great pizza, whacky atmosphere, feels like you fell into NY Cons: fairly slow, not much seating more

GREAT pizza. Five New Yorkers I know agree. 7/10/2005

If you crave new york pizza, don't bother with the restaurants in Seattle. Everyone agrees that what you can find in Seattle can kill a craving, but it's just not the same thing. You must get in a car, you must drive to Clearview (this is pretty close to the Maltby Cafe if you've ever been out there) and you must order pizza at Number 1 New York Pizza. People, this place is run by a couple from Queens. It's -so good-. New York friends of mine have wept with joy over this pizza. (And the calzones, and the made-to-order canollis, and the cheesecake.) Go. It's delicious. It's worth it. It's really good and you'll be glad you went. (Go north on 9 until you cross 180th. It's a few doors down on the right by the green ""produce"" sign and it's a tiny tiny little shop.) Pros: Delicious pizza, Loveable characters, Cure for homesickness Cons: Hard to find, No pineapple. Ever. more

We Must Be Talking About Two Different Places 5/20/2005

Except how many pizza places are there in Snohomish with only two tables? I had some of the worst pizza I've ever been served outside of a microwave box. I also grew up in New York, and I want to tell you this stuff was awful. The crust had all the texture of cardboard, and the cheese was particularly bad. What astonished me the most, was that a group of people were leaving as I came in, and they claimed to be from Boston, and were raving about how great the pizza was. Finally, who ever heard of a pizza place that closes on Sundays? Cons: Tiny place, Terrible pizza, Odd hours more

Take it from a new yorker 7/21/2002

I've lived here in Seattle for about 3 years now. I came from New York and one of the things I miss most is the great food!!! One item which is realy rather popular is Pizza. It's everywhere and it's good! No other place in seattle even comes close except for ""New York Pizza"". I don't miss home as much because of it! Pros: Food, Location, food Cons: Price, crowds more

pizza to die for 6/4/2002

off the beaten path of hyw 9 lies the best pizza ever eaten on the west coast. I not only go there for a slice of thin, chewy, light sauce, cheesy pizza heaven but to listen (or at least try to listen) to the playful banter from the long time owners. she is straight from NY and he is a NY transplant from Italy. The accents are thick and the sign reads, if there is a problem with the pizza we will fix it but if you just want to complain don't come back! I love it! more
