waste of time and money 9/10/2010

Last Friday I reserved for 6 pm. for my wife's birthday and went there from union city. No body cared for the reservation and top of that got a corner place which spoiled my wife's mood. Not only that the food was not up to the standard that I read on the review. It was a waste of our time and money. more

Worst Indian Food 7/8/2008

We were VERY disappointed with the Indian food at this restaurant. Sure the venue is okay, but my husband and I will not go there for the food again. (1) Flavorless & Watery Entrees -- We ordered vegetarian dishes (palak paneer & kofta) and asked that the food be spicy. The food was bland & poorly flavored. The entrees were also watery & running (which is not the way they are supposed to be). Our food was definitely not worth the price. (2) Slow Service -- the food took an extremely long time to arrive and the restaurant was not at all crowded at this time. There are many other better places to go for Indian food in the Bay Area. Pros: Ambience is okay, nothing extraordinary though. Cons: Bad food, slow service. more

Consistent quality 5/11/2008

Have been to this place several times for dinner. Love the veggie food. Love the chutneys & dessert. Pros: Food, ambience, service Cons: Parking more

Pleasant, but not great 1/3/2008

The restaurant is nicely decorated and modern looking, but my seat was near the bus stand and I got an earful of clanging silverware a few times. The service was fine. The food was OK, but not great. We were disappointed by the Mulligatawny soup. Vegetable samosa were good. Garlic naan was good, but the portion was not as generous as other places. The tomato kofta dish was good. I ordered lamb vindaloo ""Indian hot"", but it came out mild (by my taste). The waiter quickly took it back to the kitchen and then spiciness was just right. The lamb was very good quality and tender, but the sauce wasn't quite what I expected and I didn't like the curry leaves in the sauce (not sure if you're supposed to eat them or pick them out like bay leaves). There wasn't anything really wrong, but maybe it will suit your taste better. Pros: pleasant ambiance, friendly service Cons: didn't suit our taste more

Excellent lunch buffet 1/3/2008

I started going here when it first opened and I take all of my friends here when I'm in town. The lunch buffet is great at 10 bucks a person and you get to try lots of different dishes. My favorite is their butter chicken and they always make sure you have hot naan at the table. The restaurant is clean with simple yet classy decor. No one I know has left here disappointed. Pros: lunch buffet Cons: parking during the lunch-hour rush more

Best Indian 9/25/2007

This new little restaurant has the best Indian food I've had. The atmosphere is more formal than other Indian restaurants in the area, and the prices are a bit higher, too. The menu is short, but full of items you might not see elsewhere, including Salmon Tandoori (excellent) and an insane variety of breads. If you like food spicy, be sure to tell the server ""spicy"". Medium isn't going to be spicy enough here. more

Nothing Special 3/21/2007

We tried out Mynt on a Saturday evening with a few friends. We had reservations and were promptly seated. I had some expectations from this place, but sadly the food and drinks were very disappointing. I must say, I've tasted better Indian food in the bay area in some other restaurants of the same size and price. I found the chicken xacuti and kebabs to be pretty blend and tasteless and the vegetable jalprezie which they recommended was just 'okay'. The ?lassi? was very sweet. more

Indian food with a twist..... 1/29/2007

Have eaten at the Mynt several times and have never been disappointed. This is indian food at its best, a different and eclectic mix that teases the palate. I was most impressed by the menu and choices of dishes that was very different from the ""usual"" indian food. Special mention needs to go to the sea food dishes and vindaloos that stood out and brought out the best of ""goan"" cusine. Sample the buffet lunch and dinner and be assured of the same high quality and taste. The ambience and decor was simple, yet inviting and the service was excellent......I'll be going back soon. Pros: Great food and service to match Cons: Parking / location more

Fantastic food, Exceptional Service and great selection 12/22/2006

I've been to many bayarea Indian restaurants but this one was different. Pros: food taste, selection and staff Cons: no separate area for private events more

Best Indian food in the Bay Area 9/1/2006

Went there with my husband last week. I was incredibly impressed by food -Tandoori Hors d'oeuvres (a delicious assortment of tender chicken and lamb), Crab Cakes (extremely well prepared crab cakes flavored with ginger and delicate mild Indian spices), Chef Special Sea Bass Tikka (tender, juicy dish that to me is not typically Indian) and Mynt Regal Lamb (flavorful, tender, juicy, prepared perfectly) and for dessert the Sultana Roll (delicous and not too sweet sponge cake stuffed with raisins) and Kesari Pista Kulfi (saffron and pistachio flavored creamy ice cream). Everything was prepared perfectly. The food was not too hot and spicy, well adjusted for the Western palate. I found the combination of flavors and menu options interesting and unique for an Indian restaurant. I was told that many of the dishes are influenced by the Goa flavors which are from a location in India that was once heavily influenced by the Portugese. My husband and I call our favorite dishes mentioned above, the ""Goa Special"". Pros: Food, Ambience, Service Cons: Parking more

Fabulous Indian Food 8/31/2006

Went there a few wks ago, on reading the reviews from the Citysearch. Was NOT dissapointed. Everything was fabulous. The food was not too rich, or oily - everything was delicately balanced. We ordered a lot of food - and everything was fabulous. Our favourites were the Butter Chicken and the Sea Bass. If you like Indian food.... you will love it. If you weren't sure before - try The Mynt - you might be pleasantly surprised. Another interesting thing to note is their Children's menu. While they DO have the standard kid's menu options, there are fun Indian options that kids might be more willing to try. A great way to introduce other food to your kids. Pros: Kids menu offers more options in addition to the 'norm'; staff are very friendly and attentive Cons: parking lot a bit small more

Fantastic Indian food with nice ambience and Great customer service 8/19/2006

Most of the Indian restaurants in Bay Area offer same menu and same taste. Pros: Great food, Ambience, Customer service more

Indian food like you have never had anywhere else 8/17/2006

Went there by chance a couple of days ago ... now I going to go there by design! Great food. When I say indian food like you have never had anywhere else I mean appetizers like ""Crab cake"" ... just the right spices, complementing the natural sweetness of the crab. Oh and don't miss out on the ""tandoori appetizer plate (?)"" can't remember the actual name on the menu ... The lamb was tops. more

Excellent food, service and ambiance 8/17/2006

I have visited Mynt several times for their lunch buffet since it has openend. I have yet to be disappointed with the food. It has always been excellent. Pros: Easily accessible from Campbell, Saratoga, San Jose and Cupertino Cons: Limited parking during lunch - go early more

Excellent Indian Food that I have ever tasted in the Bay Area 8/14/2006

I have been there twice once with my wife and once by myself and both the times I had an excellent dining experince. The food was excellent and the ambience was great. Pros: Excellent Dining Experience with great ambience more

Excellent food, great, kid-friendly ambience 7/28/2006

We were a large group with noisy kids on a Saturday evening. The staff was very understanding and considerate. The restaurant served very authentic Hyderabadi cuisine. The biriyani and mirch-ka-salan were spot-on! The appetisers were innovative and refreshingly new. Pros: Excellent food, good vegetarian selections, Indian beer Cons: Hardly any; perhaps a couple more items in the kids menu would be nice more

Has redefined my view on the best Indian food available 7/25/2006

It was my privilege to dine at the Mynt. The appetizers were outstanding and far superior to any I have previously experienced (especially the Lamb Samosa). Pros: Service, Ambience, Quality more
