the TRUTH about Millers 10/24/2002

Millers has EXCELLENT FOOD.. just absolutely wonderful.. the only bad thing I can say about the place is that the service often leaves much to be desired. People from hundreds of miles come for a burger.. and I have to agree they are the best in detroit. Miller's Bar is the has been recently rated as the Best Burger in Metro Detroit thru a poll from readers of the local newspapers. So, if everyone agrees that it is good, well it has to be! I have been going there since I was a teenager (the occasional special treat) and enjoy introducing new people to the great burgers. What to expect? Four to five menu items, (beans on Sunday) full bar, and you may have to wait in line till a table opens. No menus, no receipts (all honor system and I doubt anyone would cheat them) and a great place to eat. Pros: Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, Ambience Cons: Wait in line, No salads more

I was impressed with the cash only, jazzy automobile, skip the written receipt style of Millers Bar and have singing about the burgers from the moment I walked out of the crowded door. Pros: fast service, tasty food, comfortable Cons: construction, cash only more

I travel all over the US and I have not found a better burger anywhere. I hear a lot of whining about no condiments- 1) Condiments are something needed to mask a lousy burger 2) you can get any condiments if you just ask. Admittedly, this is not the place for you sissy-pants calorie counters afraid of getting your cholesterol numbers out of whack for a few days. Because Miller's Bar is about hamburgers (or cheeseburgers). Sloppy, juicy, stuff running down your hands and ruining your cuffs kind of hamburgers. These ain't sliders, either. They're a meal and they're the best hamburgers you will ever taste. You will have sudden affection and empathy for Popeye's pal Wimpy. You will begin to utter the famous phrase: ""I will gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today."" You will feel like punching a vegetarian in the face. It's manly, this food. This must surely be an aquired taste!! Food was kind of bland and greasy luckily they had some condiments to add flavor. My date said it was the best burger around, I'll have to she that she gets out more often! I agree with the one review on the honor system, if I go out to eat it's not my job to keep track of the tab that the job of the business. I don't think that I'll be eating there again, all that juice( aka grease ) can't be good for you. Pros: dimly lit Cons: Doesn't look clean, poor ventilation, no lettuce/tomato etc more

To the whiners 9/1/2002

Millers is a nice old fashioned burger place that is usually busy (to the slow people, this means a wait if you don't get there early) and is a tradition in Dearborn. TO THE RATINGS WHINERS -- a pet peeve of mine is someone ranking a place like millers a 1 of 10 just because they had to wait for 20 - 30 mins. If you had a clue, you would have realized the place is popular and gets busy at lunch, if you don't like it, LEAVE. Your silly feedback skews the results... all I can hope is that you get rated similarly in your job by a boss for such nonsensical reasons and see how you feel. I really enjoyed this place... a ""dive bar"" that works on the honor system, meaning you go to the bartender and tell them what you had. The food is served on wax paper. Very unpretenscious, very cool place... Pros: great food, great service, great value Cons: n/a more
