I've stayed at Luxor four times but will not be returning. The hotel is being repositioned for a younger audience and much of the campy Egyptian theme has been removed. They also cl...

Please ignore the bad reviews 9/30/2010

Please ignore the bad reviews...... We have just got back from our trip to Las Vegas and we had an amazing time! The pool is lovely and we were down there at 9am every morning when it opened so we could easily get the loungers. Our room was really big with 2 queen size beds and was cleaned every day. This is a lovely hotel with a smaller casino and yes you have to walk but you would need to do that in any hotel you stay in! All in all a lovely experience in Luxor! more

when I go back to Vegas for some fun I will stay at the Luxor again 9/29/2010

I just got back from a conference at an adjoining property and had taken the time to read the reviews and checked the pricing. Luxor was about 30% cheaper for a Tower Deluxe King bed which fit my needs perfectly. The Shower and bathtub were perfect for both pressure and cleanliness and I received the service when I asked for it. The only issue I had experienced during my stay was that the in room movies did not always start, which I was told was a download issue but the staff solved the problems quickly and in a professional manner. Overall when I go back to Vegas for some fun I will stay at the Luxor again. As a side note I loved the Backstage Deli and made several trips during my 4 day stay as it was priced well for the portions. more

Fantastic View 9/24/2010

We had a room in the pyramid at the front with a fantastic view. The room was large and was kept lovely and clean. The "all you can eat buffet" was good value and the food had lots of variety and was very tasty indeed !!! You get directly to Mandalay Palace and the Excalibur which was handy as went to see Lion King at the Mandalay. The pool area was fine, the pool dj was a bit boom boom, but the kids loved it ! I am sure there are better hotels in Vegas, but for us it was fine and we had a great holiday. more

Clean and comfortable 9/24/2010

I chose for a Deluxe Tower Room, and was great. Room with good size, clean and comfortable. The location of the Luxor is not the best, but the cost-benefit ratio is. There are monorail and bus stop nearby. more

Absolutely LOVE IT!!! 9/23/2010

This is my second stay at the Luxor in the past 2 years and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! My mom and I stayed in a basic room in the towers and that was perfect, as we were in the casino playing most of the time, anyways, did you go to Vegas to stay in your room all day and night, I dont think so. Because of our previous play time and amounts, we were greeted at the airport by a limo and was able to check in VIP style. We are in NO WAY VIP'S but they treated us as if we were. The staff was awesome and our host Dorie was amazing... We played slots for 3 straight days, and the machines were loose and paying well/ I hit the price is right for 1,000.00 and many others, to where I came home with just as much as I left with. It was awesome, and thanks to everyone for a great time. I cant wait to come back next September!!! more

would recommend this hotel 9/23/2010

Stayed in the luxor, excellent hotel cannot fault it at all very close to the strip no need for taxis all within walking distance..hotel rooms very spacious and the food was great, would recommend this hotel cant wait to go again. more

Would recommend 9/22/2010

spent 4 nights - good value for money, 15 & 17 yr olds had own room next to ours - good location & facilities, good fast food cafes for the kids in hotel, lifts take getting used to as it goes up on an angel. Would recommend the Chris Angel show in hotel and helicoptor trip to Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam etc - Fantastic - next time though, would go at Sunset. They have the cheapest shopping outlets in LV compared to anywhere in the US. more

Planning on our 2011 trip back there now :-) 9/22/2010

Had a great time with the wife on our 8 day stay in May 2010 in room 22215 Tower Luxury Suite. From reservations to housekeeping...we found the staff to be extremely friendly and appreciative of our stay. The comps were great from our slot gambling also. Planning on our 2011 trip back there now :-) more

It is a great Hotel 9/21/2010

I think it were 4 amazing days, it is a great hotel very comfortable, with a great pool, great rooms, beautiful game rooms and you will have fun 24 hours in a day, when you are at home, you will need to get sleep for 3 days because you will be very tired after Vegas! you have to go!!! more

The room was Beautiful! 9/21/2010

My husband and I stayed at the Luxor in August 2008. We paid for a pyramid room and were upgraded to the newer tower portion of the hotel. The room was beautiful! The bathroom had marble everything. The buffets were very good, but pretty expensive on Sundays, for whatever reason. The pool was huge and there was no problem finding lounge chairs. The pool servers were plentiful, so we didn't have to wait long for refills :) This hotel is at the far end of the strip and it's quite a hike to the center of the action. If you like the Egyptian theme, this is definately the hotel for you! more

We will be back 9/20/2010

The kids thought this place was great, and we enjoyed it too. It is a ways from a lot of cool things on the strip, but a day of walking will let you see everything. We stayed in the tower, which was nice, but I guess the kids wanted to be in the pyramid part, oh well. The room was big and the bathroom very nice. The pool was crowded with 20-somethings partying, but we had fun. I won $ on the slots, YEAH! The theme is awesome and the decor around the hotel and casino is great! more

GREAT hotel! 9/20/2010

Great hotel. It might be one of the older ones but its still phenomenally large, with good sized rooms, some really cool night clubs, and well located at one end of the strip, It made it easy to take in the rest of the hotels on the strip easy as we could walk down to each one... Its also connected internally to the hotels around, and to the Mandalay Bay as well. Whilst the casino is not particularly large or touristy, I was impressed with the overall layout and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The pool however was closed for renovation which was a bit of a bummer as though it was the end of autumn, it was still warm enough to swim. more

Would recommed 9/17/2010

we stayed here for our first ever visit to Vegas & it certainly met our expections! the room was awesome considering we only paid $100/night for it. the amenities at the hotel far exceeded what we were expecting...the pool, shops, food, nightlife, gambling, shows...would deffinatley recommend & it is sooo wallet friendly! more

Tower is better 3/28/2009

Tower rooms are better than the pyramid, even though pyramid is kinda unique. But the smokey air from the casino all rise to the top and then goes into the vent and flows into the hotel rooms located inside the pyramid. This hotel is located on one end of the strip and so is lot cheaper. But it's still one of the newer hotels, so it's a great deal. You can always cross the street to NY NY and then catch the tram over to the main part of the strip. more

Luxor Hotel 1/12/2007

The Luxor, the great black pyramid on the Southern end of the Strip, is a nice hotel to stay in during your trip. It is easy to find and get to from the airport, however, if you want to see the main attractions of the Strip, be prepared to walk. That said, it's located next to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay, and the walk to both is easy. I stayed in one of the Pyramid rooms, which means I got to ride in the Oscillator, which takes you sideways up the Pyramid. There are other rooms located in a separate building, which are normal hotel rooms. The room was spacious and clean, so it was worth the price. The Luxor contains a nice casino in the "second floor" which is the lobby area. Below, there are shops and the Pharoah's Feast, which as far as buffets go in Vegas, is not really worth the price. Overall, the Luxor is a nice place to stay, if you want to stay in one of the theme Resorts on the Strip. more

The perfect setting for our wedding... 4/15/2006

My husband and I were married at this hotel a little over a year ago and I can't wait to go back. The wedding professionals were wonderful. We chose their chapel because it was just beautiful. The staff there was SO wonderful in helping us decide what we wanted. And when ever I called to change things, they never got upset, annoyed, or anything (at least they didn't show it!). Everyone warned me about how hard wedding planning was going to be. It was a piece of cake. I just let them know what I wanted, and they got it done. I never had to worry about a thing. The pricing for our wedding package was fabulous compared to other hotels/chapels. The photography company that they are affiliated with is exceptional. We get SO many compliments on our wedding pictures. People still mention them a year later! Our guests had so much fun and everyone was well taken care of. The decor in the hotel is fantastic. I was in awe the whole time.. I just couldn't believe the size of the lobby or the height of the atrium. I couldn't believe how gorgeous the statues and the fountains are. I definitely recommend staying here if you have the opportunity. more

Really enjoyed this hotel! 4/15/2006

I really liked staying at the Luxor the last time I was in Vegas. The rooms are decorated really nice, and everything was just comfortable. We were in the pyramid rooms, which are really cool to be able to look down to the ground from the higher floors! I would definitely stay here again. more

Exotic 4/14/2006

The Luxor in Las Vegas is quite the exotic retreat from realality. It is my favorite place to stay when we visit Vegas. My wife promises me she will let me decorate one of our rooms like the Luxor. But I'm still waiting for that approval. The staff, dealers, and front desk clerks are all very friendly. All are willing to help. They taught us how to play craps one morning at the tables, and were more then willing to answer any questions. The rooms are clean, and are lined up the pyrimid. The King Tut Tomb is a cool site to see too. Get the headphones and step back into time. more

Great place for families! 4/14/2006

The Luxor is a great, affordable place for families to stay. The hotel itself is set up in such a way that I would feel comfortable walking through with my family, which is not the case with many hotels in Vegas! They have a King Tut museum where they have recreated King Tut's tomb. My husband and I are history buffs, so we thought it was pretty interesting, but it was a bit pricey. If you stay there, they do offer discounts. They also have an IMAX ride that was fun, but not for younger children. The rooms are good sized and affordable. There is an "elevator" that goes sideways to give you access to your room. Overall, we felt like the Luxor was a good value. more

The pyramid is huge on the inside! 4/14/2006

The Luxor is a great hotel, especially for the price. If you book directly on their website, you can get some pretty good deals. I like to stay in the pyramid part of the hotel over the towers. It's great to be able to come out of your room, go down the elevator (or inclinator--depending on what floor you're on), and be right in the casino. I enjoyed their buffet. The food was pretty good and it wasn't very expensive. We timed it just right one day (and didn't even realize it until after we paid), but we arrived during the lunch time hours and when we were just starting to eat, they were putting out the dinner time food selection. Not bad to pay for a lunch and get to eat the dinner food! more
