When you first see Lava Java you don't expect a whole lot. Even the name makes you think of a trendy coffee shop (which it is). But when you discover the fine dining in the back you'll want to return again and again. I went with 2 other people. All the food was exceptional. Appetizers flawless, dinner excellent and dessert to die for! The wine selection isn't vast but has some wonderful picks. Total cost for 3, approximately $75.00 plus tip. A bargain! I had ordered a steak, rare, which was the only real error. It had been grilled at too low a temperature. The outside was not very browned and it was closer to medium-rare, but the actual flavor was exceptional. The rest of the meal was excellent as was the service. Front of house is casual, back of house is elegant, meeting the needs of most. Pros: food, wine, dessert! Cons: none really more
