Tasty food... if only it were all about taste 6/23/2008

We arrived and were seated in the bar. We ordered their ""special"" margarita, served in a martini glass, while we looked over the menu. The drinks were delivered promptly and we ordered our food. My wife opted for the Bleu Cheese and Spinach Stuffed Steak, which she ordered well done (more about this later), and I ordered one of their ""trio"" options with Meatloaf, Short Rib and ""Hawaiian Glazed"" Ribs. I also ordered a starter of Bleu Cheese Wraps on a bed of greens. The wait was not long for the starter as it arrived shortly, but this is where things started to go downhill. The waitress came back by and asked us if we wanted another drink. We ordered a glass of red wine with our dinner. The waitress brought our wine (about 10 minutes later) and informed us that, because my wife's steak was ordered well done, it would take just a little longer. Temporarily mollified, we sipped our wine, thinking our dinner would be arriving shortly. I notice that other people that came in after us had already eaten and were paying their bill. Fifteen minutes later, the wine gone, our server says our food is coming out right now. She offers to buy us dessert, to which I respond that we will probably not have time for dessert as our concert starts in 45 minutes. She comes back in about 10 minutes with our food announcing that she will throw in two more glasses of wine because of our wait. I give her credit for this. Pros: Tasty Food Cons: Cold Food more

Service makes whole experience unbearable 10/14/2007

Having moved from Seattle a few years ago I was really looking forward to a ""northwest experience"" restaurant, and was favorably inclined before arriving. Unfortunately,we were disappointed. I didn't even mind the overpricing as this was expected before hand! The food was quite good. My husband's short ribs were very tender and the fillet ""Oscar"" was done right. The side dishes were delicious. It was the service that was unbearable. Our waitress was rude, unfriendly and timing was simply not in her repertoire. Answers to questions were very curt. After receiving ice teas w/out sugar I waited a long time for a return then asked for the sugar; then waited another 15 minutes to receive it. When my husband's glass was empty he had to finally ask a manager for a refill. Meat was served without a steak knife. When we asked for doggy bags we were looked at like we were piranha. We asked for a dessert menu and more ice tea. We tried to order dessert, but waited 20 more minutes till the tea arrived but by then we said we could not wait any longer to order dessert and asked for our bill - another 20 minute wait. My husband's theory was perhaps we were treated so rudely because we did not order alcohol and appetizers- we were trying to leave room for dessert. Yet, I saw others without alcohol and they were treated better. It may even be the restaurant 's fault for not putting on more wait-staff on a busy evening; but if this was the reason, it would still not excuse the manners (or lack thereof), of our server . I have dined all over the world- from ethnic neighborhoods to 5 star cuisine - but have never been treated this rudely. My spouse said he would rather dine at ""In & Out Burger"" than ever go there again. I've never written a review, but this time, I felt people definitely needed to know before spending their money here. Cons: Service more

avoid period 8/20/2007

Our dining experience at Kincaids was at best, disappointing. It started upon arrival with a phony greeting and then an ear shrieking yell for someone to come and seat us. As we wallked through the dining room we noticed that there were not many people in the restaurant which was a good thing since we needed to get back to work. We sat at our table with no attention for about 12 minutes when finally a wrinkled waitress came over and said that she would be with us shortly. After about another 5 minutes, she returned to take our order where we explained to her that we needed to hurry and get back to work since now we have already lost about 20 minutes in the initial greet. I ordered her recommendation of the halibut cheeks which she said were the house specialty and my friend ordered asiago almond crusted scallops. Of course the server brought the wrong drinks on the first attempt. Finally she brought us our diet sodas, but she never delivered the bread that was promised. The entrees arrived pretty quick which pleased us since we were in a crunch, however what was delivered was almost inedible. The cheeks were some of the greasiest items I have ever seen on a plate and smothered in a broken down butter sauce which paired well with the soggy, limp sugar snap peas that accompanied them. My friends scallops were well done with a hint of burn on the outer crust (and I mean crust) served over some bland overcooked orzo pasta. We stomached what we could but did not eat most of it. The waitress never even acknowledged that both of our plates were mostly untouched, just dropped the check and didn't offer dessert or coffee. As I passed the kitchen and front desk area to go to the bathroom, I heard more shouting from a tall man in a chef coat for servers to come and run their food. I'm not quite sure when yelling became a desirable environment for dining. All in all I do not reccomend this shabby establishment and wish you luck if you try it. Pros: free parking Cons: pretty much everything else more

Not just a ""steak house"" 6/3/2005

This comfortable restaurant has become our Anniversary tradition. We moved from Seattle Washington and didn't want to miss out on our yearly tradition of Copper River Salmon on our anniversary. We found Kincaid's is one of the few places in Arizona that has it flown in fresh so we made reservations our first year here and have continued. They create new recipes every year so it's always a delightful surprise. The staff is very warm, friendly and professional, making our dining experience memorable every time we go there. Pros: Delicious food, Copper River Salmon, Outstanding Service Cons: none I could find more
