I came to them with an existing diamond and some ideas for an engagement ring. I met with them multiple times and they really took my concerns into account and provided good advice on the three stone emerald and diamond ring they created. When my fiance saw the ring she was speechless and thought it was perfect. They provide great service, and a good price. My fiance and I plan on getting our wedding rings from them. more

I want to thank everyone down there for all their help! I'd been planning on asking my girlfriend to marry me for awhile now, and I finally saved up the money and got the courage to go downtown to pick out a ring. My best friend had given me a card for David I Helfer Jewelry, and all he told me was that they did good work. I showed up with only a general idea of what I was looking for. I knew she wanted something like her great grandmother's ring (which was left to her). They had stacks of binders with EVERY TYPE of ring design imaginable. We looked at hundreds of pictures and drawings with subtle differences in style until I was satisfied with a design that was as unique as I had hoped. Any style I wanted, or any subtle change in design was always responded with ""Not a problem"" or ""Yes, we can do that"". They walked me through the processes of picking out the diamonds, and made sure that I was happy with what I was getting. I even asked for a rush, as we were going to Vegas and that's where I'd hoped to ask her; and I know it put some strain on them, but you'd never know by the quality of ring that I got!! When I went in to pick it up, everyone in shop just kept smiling at me. I could tell how proud they were of the work they'd done. (Not to mention that they knew how much the ring meant and symbolized for me). I'm 100% going back down-town to get our wedding bands made!!! And I'm going to pass along the card my friend gave me to the next guy who's looking to get some jewelry made. For the Quality of work that was done; I walked away feeling as if I was given an ""insider deal"" because of the Value I received for money. But that's just how they treat people there. I could tell it was a family run shop, and that's the way I was treated. For the great service they did for me, they gained a customer for years to come. I can't say thank you enough! P.S. I am getting married in 3 1/2 months and wanted to go to the Clark Building, to check out wedding rings and discuss updating my engagement ring. My current engagement ring had a pear shaped diamond was two-toned and the diamond mounting made it impossible to fit a wedding band together to look right. I wanted to make a few changes. My Grandmother had passed away in August and left me 2 diamond rings. I debated on adding the round diamond to my current ring. I went to 2 other jewelry stores and one place lady wouldn't help me and the other jeweler was too pricey. My Mom met me and said let's stop here when you walk in there are no cases of jewelry out it looks like a workshop. We were greeted by a nice lady and I started telling her what I was interested in having done. Her father and brother David came over to determine what I wanted. David was very attentive and helpful and came up with some cool things that he could do with my ring to update it and obvious this was very sentimental to me with putting my Gram's diamond in the ring. I hated to leave my ring. So this was on a Wed. the ring was ready on Saturday. The ring is gorgeous and just what I wanted. David did an awesome job and was very efficient my ring was beautiful before but now it looks like a brand new ring and just what I wanted! The price was so reasonable. David is so creative and imaginative I love it and me and my fiance are getting our wedding bands designed here. I would highly recommend Helfer's they are the BEST! If it wasn't for my Mom telling me to stop in I would have walked right past. Don't go to an over priced jeweler that sells the same thing elsewhere go here. more

When beginning to look at rings, my fiance and I knew we wanted something special and unique. We had two stones that were given to us from his mother, but not a clue about which one was of better quality for a center stone. After reading reviews online and talking to a few friends that had gone into the Helfer store, I knew I had to tell my fiance to go there. He went to the store, had the two diamons taken out of the pair of earrings, and came back with the BIGGEST smile on his face! David had shown and explained why the one stone was better and my fiance couldn't have been more excited! He also looked at a few molds that day and had a particular one in mind. So the next week, both of us went back and looked at several molds based on what type of style I liked, had them draw a few different designs, and after being there for just a short time I picked a mold that I just fell in love with... suprisingly it was the same one my fiance picked out the week before so we knew it was perfect!!! They even let us take the mold home to show both of our mothers! The process of getting it made and paid off (especially since the ring was very reasonably priced for custom work!) was completely stress free! Though my fiance knew very little about rings and stones, they made us feel so comfortable and excited throughout the entire process! Wonderful people, amazing skill, and ultimately the perfect ring for us.... couldn't have asked for anything better! If you want a truly unique ring and want to feel as though it was made just for you go to the Helfers!!!! :) more

What a wonderful experience it has been and will be doing business with the Helpher’s. They redesigned my engagement ring, made a special pin like one I own for my new niece, designed a confirmation gift for my daughter, they even helped my son design a engagement ring for his then fiancé. Dana even met us at the Dunkin Donuts one night when I could not get back into town to pick up a gift. I use them exclusively for gifts, repairs etc… Dana, David and Ira are all about helping you. My husband and I were engaged at 18 and couldn’t afford a diamond. So, to celebrate our 30th anniversary, my husband decided it was finally time. I walked into Helfer Jewelers feeling a little uneasy about issues like cost, design, quality, etc. Well, Dana greeted us and quickly managed to make us feel comfortable. She was knowledgeable and, more importantly, honest. She helped us pick a perfect diamond for a reasonable price, even though she easily could have taken advantage of our lack of expertise. i was clueless about jewelry and scared to be taken making such a large purchase but i had friends that had raved about Dana and her family, not to mention the fact that shes really easy on the eyes, so that helps things when your kind of nervous. Dana was great from the start she taught me everything I should know first asked me for a price range( which i was informed on from doing research on the internet), She took the picture my girlfriend, now fiance picked out , made some great suggestions and had me take a look at a wax. I picked and awesome diamond which she had a great selection and variety all for half the price of the designer mounting. The craftmanship is perfect as well. Everyone in the family was great. I went to Helfer Jewelry with some ideas for a custom engagement ring band that I wanted fit to a round diamond. I first met Dana and Ira and they were very helpful at taking some pictures I had and ideas and giving options for what they could do to make the ring. This is not your normal jewelry store- it's way better! It doesn't feel commercial, it's all family owned, and everyone there is very helpful. This was the first and only place I visited when looking for an engagement ring. After visiting once and talking with them I didn't have to look any further. The engagement ring I had made was unique, so they made a new wax mold for it that I was able to to come in to check out the week before the ring was cast. The ring itself came out absolutely amazing. My fiancée loves it; the craftmanship and detail put into the ring makes it stand out from the rest. It is a white gold band with classical arches in the design, smaller .01k diamonds and a studded lining to give it an extra glimmer. Round diamond setting in the center. Not only does the ring look good but it has also been put together with precision; it is very sturdy and will last forever. Helfer Jewelry also offers free cleaning of the ring on a bi-annual basis. on the 3rd floor of the clark building. \r They made an engagement ring from a stone that I brought to them - turned out great. \r Then then made a wedding ring to go with the engagement ring - my wife couldn't be happier. \r They have re-sized and polished the rings a couple times with NO charge. took about 10 minutes each time. Anyone wanting to deal with nice people and get good service and good products should visit them. Pros: very friendly and willing to help. good folks, good service. I had an engagement ring that required customization. I work in the Clark building so when I heard of them I stopped down to see what they could do. I was so impressed with how on the spot they created a design that fit perfectly with my unique ring. A week later they had a mold created and the rest was history. They made the experience easy and wonderful. We also bought my husband's wedding ring there. I have recommended them to several people since and none of them have been disappointed. They are a great family run business, you will never have a better experience at a jewelers. more

My fiance and I wandered into Helfer's while shopping for engagement rings in the Clarke Building and it could not have been a better experience. First of all, they are family-run in that special way that makes you feel instantly comfortable when you walk in the door. We were greeted with absolute and genuine friendliness, and it gave us a good feeling right from the beginning. Secondly, they almost instantly made the overwhelming process of choosing the perfect ring super easy. They (very) patiently showed us catalog after catalog of bands, settings, stone cuts, etc. and gave us feedback, personal opinion and professional knowledge about each one. They brought us stones to examine and example bands to try on, and they took the time to explain every detail. Once we decided on a ring, they made it happen fast. We could have ordered it and waited, but it was pretty obvious that we couldn't wait to get a ring on my finger. They picked up on that and had us out the door in the perfect ring within thirty minutes. In terms of price, I was amazed at how reasonable they were. Actually my jaw dropped when they told us how ""cheap"" it was going to be (cheap as in inexpensive - not as an indication of quality). I was expecting it to be much, much more expensive. It was clear that they weren't marking the stone or the band up very much, even though they certainly could have. Finally, I would characterize Helfer's as non-pretentious, very high-quality, ultra-friendly and expert. They know what they are doing, but they're not jerks about it. They seem like the kind of shop that would cater to any budget with the same friendliness and care. Overall, I have to say that the whole experience was great. I don't think you'd be likely to find a better place to buy a piece of jewelry, in terms of quality, service, and accommodation. more

I bought an engagement ring from David I Helfer earlier in the year. A friend of my family recommended them. Being that I am currently a student and had a strict budget, I am more than thrilled that I went to this particular jeweler. I worked mainly with Dana during my visit. When I first arrived she had multiple loose diamonds waiting for me to choose from. She showed me how to shop for a diamond starting essentially at square one, and was more than accommodating when it came to my budget. After looking at all of the diamonds, she made a special trip to search down a few more diamonds to look at. Needless to say, I ended up buying a diamond from them that day. They gave me the opportunity to visualize the ring by placing the diamond in a molded setting that would be similar to the one I would buy. In my opinion this is the best place to go if you are searching for custom jewelry and diamonds. Their service is incredible, and they are extremely knowledgeable. I had no idea what I was looking for until I met with Dana. She helped me through the entire process. The most important thing, was that my fiancee loved the ring; and I cannot count the number of compliments she has received. I recently went to Helfers to have an engagment ring made. The service i received is unparalled to anything i've received in making any purchase and was quite refreshing. I worked primarily with Dana. She took as much time with me as I needed and ensured that I picked the diamond that I wanted after explaining the differences in diamonds and price. She even allowed me to examine each of many diamonds she showed me.\r \r After the ring was made, it looked great however, I wanted it to sit up a little bit. I called and there were no questions asked; I was told to bring the ring back and they would fix it in a day or two. Sure enough, it was perfect. Both Ira and Dana were extremely helpful, and made sure I received exactly what I wanted. I will recommend them to any of my friends or family who need any jewelry work done. I found Helfers by reading the outstanding reviews online and decided to give them a call when I began shopping for an engagement ring. I talked to Ira and he told me to come in and look at some stones. So I made the trek to downtown to have a look and the reviews did not disappoint. They have an outstanding selection of diamonds onsite, but they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. Instead, they obtained one in about 2 days.\r \r I did a lot of searching on the internet prior to visiting Helfers, knowing that the internet would have the best prices.....I was wrong. I instead got a GIA certified diamond in better clarity, and 2 grades higher in color than what I was going to pay $1000 more for on the internet. I was incredibly surprised.\r \r I only had an idea of what setting I was looking for and I poorly described what I was thinking of. It was then, David broke out a large book of ring settings and opened the book right to what I was describing. The best part is they included the ring and the work in with the price of the stone. Unbelieveable. Unbeatable.\r \r I love that you walk into Helfer's and you know you are getting quality. Buying jewelry here is a truly enjoyable experience. When you walk into the store, you enter the workshop where all of the magic happens. No shiny display cases, no pushy salespeople, no generic jewelry. Just a friendly family-run business with great service. My fiance had a diamond engagement ring custom-made for me, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I have already gotten plenty of compliments from perfect strangers on how unique and beautiful it is. The price was absolutely unbeatable too-- easily less than half of what I would expect to pay somewhere else. After getting engaged and falling in love with my ring, I decided I wanted to do something special for my fiance. So I called Dave and Ira with a crazy idea and they immediately agreed. They let the two of us come into their workshop on a Sunday and make each other's wedding bands. That's right, they let us physically melt the metal, form the rings, file them down, add the details, polish them up, everything!
