The Little Rehab that Could 7/30/2008

I attended the Haven in 2007. I've been clean and sober ever since. The previous reviewer is a bit misguided regarding the Haven's program. Of the 30 people I went through treatment with, only a handful were court ordered or came from jail. Most of us came from regular families, and had regular lives until we got caught up in alcohol and drugs. There was a mix of Salt Lake residents as well as patients from other states.\r The thing that sets the Haven apart is the close relationship between the Haven and the University of Utah Drug and Alcohol Clinic. The Dr's. from the University conduct group therapy with the patients help resolve issues that cause drug abuse. These doctors continue working with patients through an aftercare program that continues for a year after leaving treatment.\r Patients can leave the Haven at any time. Patients can be asked to leave for breaking rules. However, if a patient wants to get clean and sober, they will follow the rules and stick around even more

Got Substance Abuse? 6/14/2006

When my brother's substance abuse got to the point where he was lying, stealing, and overdosing, my parents searched for a program they could send him to, this led them to the Haven.\r \r The program will cost you about $3000 a month and you will be placed with people who came from jail or prison who are only there because they are court ordered.\r \r The program has some good points. The people there are required to work and do chores and take responsibilities for their actions.\r \r However, even if you are paying for your child to be there, or you are court ordered there, if you choose to walk out and use drugs, they do not inform the courts and they do not inform you that the person you have been paying to send to rehab has walked away.\r \r I think the initial idea of working and taking responsiblity is good, but they shouldn't respect people's privacy to the point where they let criminals walk away without calling the police, nor should they neglect to inform parents that their child has more

Founded in 1969, The Haven offers both residential program and transitional housing programs to men and women who suffer from addiction. We embrace the 12-step program as a model of personal development and long-term recovery, and our staff is certified to provide personalized treatment.. Residential Treatment

The Haven's residential treatment program is designed for individuals (male and female) over eighteen who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. The length for residential treatment program is between 45-90 days. The average length of stay for program graduates is 75 days. The Haven has an 18-bed capacity, and the population is generally evenly split between males and females. Each client receives at least 25 hours of structured program activities per week.

We are a therapeutic community, meaning that most of the work we accomplish is through the use of group therapy techniques. We support the 12-step program as a model for personal development and long-term recovery. Regular attendance at meetings, groups and additional activities are required as part of the program. Moreover, each of our clients receives a physical and psychological evaluation through the University of Utah's Alcohol and Drug Unit within the first 45 days of treatment.

    Transitional Housing Program:

The Haven offers transitional housing for men and women who have completed residential treatment. Our homes are clean and inviting, secure and alcohol/drug free. The Haven offers clients a foundation that assures the transition from a treatment center into a sober living facility is consistent with the principles of recovery.
