Georgetown Day Spa

OWNER WOULD NOT HONOR AGREEMENT ON A GIFT CERTIFICATE GIVEN BY HIS EMPLOYEE! Earlier last year, my boyfriend got a gift certificate for a facial for me there from an employee who worked there at the time. Specifically, the employee offered him a facial for $60 (rather than the usual $75). My boyfriend paid $75 however, and specifically told the employee that he wanted to pay the additional $15 for tip so I wouldn't have to pay any money for gratuity when I came. Last week I finally went to Georgetown to receive the facial. After my facial was done, the owner refused to honor the $60 agreed upon price that HIS EMPLOYEE had offered my boyfriend and said that I would have to pay the full $75. Luckily, I had $15 in cash on me, so I used that money to tip the girl who did my facial (since she did a very good job). However, I didn't say anything at the time (since the spa had several people in the waiting area and I didn't want to cause a scene). I called the owner from my phone soon after I left and told him that I thought it was unfair that his employee could offer my boyfriend a discounted faical (which was the reason he obtained the facial in the first place from Georgetown, since you can facials for less than $75 many other places in clt) and he wouldnt' honor it. He went on to tell me that the employee no longer works there and implied that she was fired and that he never authorized a discounted price. This is contrary to what my boyfriend said, who said that the owner was present and was standing next to the employee when the offer was made. Either way, the employee represented him at the time the certificate was offered at the $60 price! He never really sincerely apologized and only after speaking to me for about 5-10 min on the phone, did he finally say, "if it means that much to you, you can come back here and I'll give you your 15 bucks back." But at that point, he made me feel like I was this cheap skate who had no class and was bothering him over $15, when he should have just honored the agreement in the first place. My boyfriend was upset b/c he was trying to do something nice for me and was trying to ensure that I wouldn't have to pay any money when I went. Instead, GEORGETOWN MADE MISREPRESENATIONS about the price of their facials to my boyfriend, and only after I received the services rendered, did they decide to raise the price of my facial. Any business owner should know that employees that work for you can bind you to representations made to them to customers. The facial was very good but I was treated extremely poorly and spoken to by the owner very condescendingly. If you care about how you are treated...go somewhere else. more

I live in the neighborhood and recently went in for an apt. I was very disappointed as I had not been informed that Marybeth had left the salon. She is the only estheician I would go to in Charlotte. In fact that is the only reason I went to the salon to begin with. She was awesome and made it a treat everytime I came to her. That place has alot to own up to now. I will not be going back, as I feel that they just wanted my money for the service and were not honest! Cons: The facialist has left and I was informed prior to arriving! more

I purchased a gift certificate over the phone for my mother. The man on the phone was helpful and did as he said and mailed the gift for me. My mom is easily pleased but she did let me know of her disappointment with this place. She went in with her gift certificate and asked for a peel. They took her certificate from her at that time. When she was done with the service a peel and a facial had been deducted from her certificate. She let them know that she did not get a facial, just a peel. She was told that she also received the facial when cream was applied after the peel. Not what we bargained for. Her intention was to return for another peel at a later date but there was nothing left of the amount I had purchased for two services. I chose this place online based on reviews so I felt like I had to post mine. I will try another next time. Pros: Nice phone service Cons: Was charged for a service she did not get more

I went to Georgetown for a haircut because their rates were cheaper than other salons *only $45 as opposed to $65-100*, I had Janice and she was incredible! She really listened to what I wanted and wanted to get to know me in order to asses the best style and cut for my lifestyle! She's incredible and I received multiple compliments on my hair that same day! I would recommend this place to anyone! the neighborhood is cute and the spa itself is a very adorable and relaxing environment! I felt completely comfortable and left my hair in Janice's skilled hands! Pros: Amazing hairstylists for a great price! Cons: I wish I had gone sooner! more

Like a Diamond in the ruff...Georgetown is nestled in a quiet neighborhood right near uptown! I was able to come right after work and be pampered by their staff with great southern hospitality! I recieved a great 60 min massage and manicure & pedicure combo! They rub you with great hands and spirit! And the Foot massage is to die for! You definatley need to check out georgetown, if you haven't already! Pros: excellent massage! & foot massage! Cons: small spaces..but service makes up for that! more

I am writing in regards to the previous comment. I have been a regular at the spa over 3 years and I have never had a complaint, apart from the bathroom being a bit cold. Everyone seems to always go out of their way and I enjoy all of the skincare treatments I get there. The esthetician does not do a hand massage, but has always done a thorough facial, neck and deep shoulder massage that leaves me feeling like a wet noodle once finished. She has always been very deligent about taking the proper measures to determine what needs to be done with the variety of advanced peels and products from the dermaologica line in the over and hour long facials! My skin looks and feels great nearly to my next apt. I fully disagree with the last comment and have frequented 3 out of the 4 Modern Spas and have had recieved nothing more then an overpriced froo froo mini facial, yes it was relaxing but extremely overpriced and my skin looked and felt the same the next day, 125.00 later at Modern for a 50 min. facial. I guess the difference between just wanting to be rubbed or getting a lasting and pampering treatment, go get a massage! Jon is really great there too, he just talks a little too much, but I just tell him I want to drift off to sleep and that solves that problem. He is just very knowledgable. I have had many facials before. I usually go to Modern salon and spa, but decided to try this place out based on reviews. The man at the front desk was very pleasant. He seemed like he really cared about my business. The esthetician, however, did not. She left the room while both of my masks were on. At Modern, they never leave the room. You get a hand/arm massage and a foot massage, even scalp massage somtimes, while masks are on. She did nothing special at all. Very brief neck shoulder massage and face massage. My face felt the same as when I came in. She offered me no advice. I could have cleaned my face at home. Pros: nice, friendly front desk Cons: non enthusiastic esthetician more

I had a wonderful experience at Georgetown Spa. I disagree with the last comment about John. He always lets me zone out during his massages. The facial and waxing I had done was far and beyond what I have ever experienced at some of the more over-priced and over-rated quote and quote DAY SPA"S and resorts. The best! The experience compares by far with service and the professionalism I have received back in CA. I have been coming to this spa for over 4 years and will be continue with all of my beauty services at this spa. I was given a gift certificate for a full spa day and went for a massage with the rest going to other things the spa had to offter- love the selection of Dermologica products. Mo, the massage therapist, was knowledgeable and professional. I felt wonderful afterwards, and will definitely go back. I have been a repeat customer of Georgetown for at least 7 years. I went to this spa after not having much luck getting an appointment at Oasis down the street. The spa is very boutiqueis-small, nice colors,very intimate setting. I had to negotiate getting a 30 minute swedish for 45 bucks. You can't beat that. John worked me but talked too much of the time. He had me laughing which didn't allow me to fully relax. The massage experience on a a scale of 1-5 5 being the best..i would give him a 4. I thought it was tacky as when i was coming out-i walked right into John and the receptionists' conversation about me tipping. They didn't know I was going to tip on my way out. I seemed overjoyed by my experience with them and decided to really review their asses when i got home. The prices are good-the ambianece is okay, the receptionist is two-faced and I honestly think John talks too much. I won't be going back. more

My boyfriend and I have very stressful jobs and often treat ourselves to a massage. We went to Georgetown Day Spa because of the positive reviews. While our experience there was not terrible, it certainly wasn't anything 'above and beyond'. We will not be returning. more

I am so happy I found this little spa that was undermy nose the whole time! Called and left a message wanting to have massage for me and afriend the same day. Owner called me back in about 15 minutes and understood what we wanted and what time. He called one of his folks who was not on that day and he agreed to come in for us (John). All of the services are phenommenal!! The aesthetician that does the waxing is great, She has been there for over 2 years...I think she is the only aesthetician.The wax that she used, did not hurt a bit on removal, I have been burnt & have had many awful experiences with waxes from many salons/spas in charlotte.. IE: a big salon that has many chains; one in PHILLIPS PLACE!!!. Take Notes more

You get the benefit of beautiful skin and results &as you are put into a relazing state of euphoria! I must say great facials, the massage's with Gary are awesome as well. If you have not been, you are missing out! Situated in an up coming neighborhood that is rather eclectic. It is worth the trek to Georgetown Day Spa! Reasonably underpriced for such amazing services! I called and spoke with a guy who identified himself as the owner. I was calling to make an appt. for a massage for me and my wife. He said he would have to check the schedule of another staff member and he would call me back. He said he would call back as soon as she was done with her appt. That was one week ago and I have not heard back! I understand it is holiday time and staff may be busy or taking time off, but don't say you are going to do something and then don't do it! more
