Run down dump! 11/20/2002

Franklin Street is a typical small town shopping area. A few high end shops are here because of UNC but the place looks like a dump. Let's not even talk about the lack of parking, either. Pros: cheap food Cons: dump, dirty, run-down more

Freaks playground 9/17/2002

Franklin street....oooh...sends chills up my spine just to think of the place. It is a world all of it's own. During the day, it's your normal college scene. After dark, the freaks and the vampires come out to play. It's a great place to find hard to get items with good prices. Pros: small stores, good prices, rare items Cons: no parking, dangerous area, college students more

Something for practically everyone 8/9/2002

Franklin St. offers something for practically everyone (or at least everyone who is a diehard Carolina fan or UNC alum). There are plenty of restaurants ranging from decidedly upscale to wallet friendly and delicious. One has ample opportunities to stop, shop, and look at the myriad retailers lining the streets, and if a break is needed, one of the many restaurant/taverns are there to fill a glass. more

Shop, Eat, Watch! 7/26/2002

While Franklin Street has always been amazing - there are some especcially good places to make sure you stop by. Try Spanky's for brunch, the Varsity or Carolina for an afternoon flick, Cosmic Cantina for a extremely cheap and tasty burrito, Schoolkids for music you didn't even know you liked, and so much more. Pros: choices for eats Cons: parking - 2hr. max, $, clothing expensive more

chapel thrill 7/18/2002

Franklin St. has an atmosphere like none other! It is always cheerful and busy...a great place for people watching, shopping, dinner, coffee with friends, or a night on the town! Pros: neat shops, great food Cons: parking more

Std University Fare 7/12/2002

The town council really should address the homeless situation on Franklin St., however, after midnight, they do blend in with the drunken students. Pros: Unicersity setting, Store offerings, Bars Cons: Pan Handling, Sidewalks more
