My experience here was so bad I wrote a letter to the owner of the store. The staff so rude, even the other patrons were outraged. Anyway, I've pasted the letter I wrote to the owner below.
Ms. Kallenberg,
I am writing to tell you how disappointed I am in your store's policies regarding allowing those who wish to consign goods with your place of business. I live in the neighborhood and every season have friends over for a clothes swap. Many have suggested that I take my items to Finders Keepers before hand to see if they would take any for consignment. Today, being a beautiful day, I neatly folded my clothes and placed them in re-usable bags, took a bag of hangers, and rode my bicycle to your store. When I arrived, I let the woman behind the desk know I was interested in having my items looked at for consignment. Rudely, she told me items had to be hung to be looked at. Indicating that I had brought hangers and would be glad to hang them, she told me that I could not hang items in the store as it is bad for business. Ms. Kallenberg, certainly you can understand how ironic this statement is, considering your place of business relies on people bringing in their goods to the survival of your stores.
More so than the rude treatment I received in your store (which, having looked at reviews of Finders Keepers after I was turned away, seems to be the norm rather than the exception), I am truly disheartened at how unfriendly your policies are to those who seek to lessen their footprint on the environment. To require that people drive to your place of business when they live in easy bicycle commuting distance seems wasteful and certainly a detriment to the neighborhood. Does Avondale Estates not pride itself on being a walkable part of Atlanta? What about those who use public transportation to get around the city? Are they not able to consign with you as well? I always thought of Finders Keepers as a neighborhood store - now I see I was sadly mistaken.
I will not be returning to Finders Keepers to consign or to shop, and I will be letting my friends, co-workers, and those at my synagogue know about your policies and how your staff feels they should treat your customers, as well as the environmental impact you require people to make when they choose to consign with you. I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience at your store.
