Fat Head's Is My Guitly Pleasure!!! 8/1/2011

I don't know how anyone couldn't love Fat Head's!! I've been going to wing night every Monday for 10 years now and have NEVER had wings as good as Fat Head's! Most of the staff knows our names, is friendly, and already has our chips ordered before they even come to our table! Apple is especially friendly and a great server. These reviews are ridiculous...it's a bar with great beer and bar food - TONS of delicious bar food! I think maybe people are expecting a 5 star restaurant...it's 5 star in it's own way! LOVE Fat Head's! ...did I mention the wings?? YUM! more

Poor Service, Questionable Food, Belgian Beer, Loud 7/26/2010

Simply, FatHeads is a bar that serves people who are used to and accept substandard mediocrity, however, I have gone there time and time again for the Belgian Beers and the wings and always ask myself why I went back because each time is a huge dissapointment. Over the last year, and particularly on my last three visits to FatHeads, I have noticed a marked decrease in quality of food and service, and the lack of training on the part of your staff. ? Environment: The Pittsburgh bar is spread out over four distinct areas: An outside patio, two inside seating areas, and a bar. The place is an acoustic nightmare. Whoever designed the place decided to use hard surfaces everywhere and failed to put in any acoustic sound suppression. The result is that every clink, every sound, every song, every scream is heard. What happens then is everyone raises their voices because they can't hear one-another, resulting in a deafening roar that is on-par with standing in the front-row of a Metallica concert. If you don't like noisy environments, skip this place and go up the street to Smokin Joes. Filthy Restrooms: The mens room is disgusting. ??No one is keeping it in order, it's filthy and it appears that no one is emptying the trash or cleaning up the urine from around the seat and the floor adjacent to the toilet. ?I am actually concerned about using it to wash my hands before eating, not to mention that it looks terrible. ? If they allow their public rest rooms to look this bad, imagine what the kitchen looks like ! ! ! Poor Customer Service, Rude Staff: The staff is not trained in any way, other than at the cash register. They have no concept of customer service and get mad at you if you ask where your food or beer is. The women waitresses are too busy flirting with the guys to notice you, and get mad when you try to get their attention. If you are there with a group, you might get attention. However, if your thinking of going there with your date, FORGET IT. You will be completely embarrassed at the scene and service. Long Wait Times / Slow Service: If there is a larger table next to you they will service them exclusively and will get to you only when you complain. Food is not served properly in that they bring it whenever it's ready. The end result is that some people in your party may be finished with their meal before you even get yours. They do this with the beer too, especially if you mix and match drafts and bottles. They will invariably come at different times, usually about 15 minutes apart. I ordered wings and a sandwich, and both came nearly 40 minutes after I ordered them. WIngs, not filet mignon ! ! ! Questionable Food Quality. The last two times I've gone there, the vegetables that come with the wings were dried out, obviously sitting around for days. The foot is consistent, great sometimes, other times sopping wet with grease. The wings sometimes arrive right out of the cooker, hot and tasty, and other times they arrive after obviously sitting under a heat-lamp. I've complained, however they never once offered to remedy the problem. When I ordered an expensive Belgian Beer, it took around 20 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it came without a glass, a major faux pas for those who like Belgians. When I asked for a glass, the waitress seemed bothered, and huffed away, returning with a glass covered with suds from the dishwasher. She didn't even wipe them off. And they never once offered to refill my drinks. Obviously, there is no qualified management there, or they just have no clue. I used to like the place better, but it seems as if they are going down hill, but the acceptance of mediocrity in the sea of choices always astounds me. If you want good food and Belgian Beer, walk up the street to Smokin Joes, or ride out to the Sharp Edge in East Liberty. You will have a better time and get better service. Pros: Wings and Belgian Beer Cons: Staff Is Rude, Bathrooms are Filthy, Place is Loud, Food? more

Great beer, one good bartender 5/11/2010

I live in the soutside, so I know about every bar and all of the happenings going on around here. So abvously, I've been to Fat heads a few times (enough to know the bar tenders names). Joe, is the one and only bar tender that actually wants to b there. The other ones seem to not care about their job. Miserable, pms-y women are the ones you will encounter so, watch out! And don't even think about smokin joes for a good beer on the weekend, because you will get unfriendly service(even though your a regular) and a crowded atmosphere. Try hofbrauhaus, or cupkas 2 for a good time around here! more

Good beer, good food 11/9/2009

Good draft beer selection, but when their out of a beer, there's no back up in a bottle like Smokin Joes down the street. Every thing I've ever eaten from here has always been good except for the chicken artichoke dip, the chicken tasted like tuna. More often than not, the service is crappy, but I still go back for the beer and atmosphere. more

Great for the serious beer lover 8/30/2009

You can't beat the beer selection in this bar. They have a lot of great beers on tap and even collaborate with Rogue to do their own. Problem is there are a lot of blacks and kiikes that go here. Try their wings, they are incredible. Pros: Great beer selection Cons: A lot of blacks go here more

The best WINGS in the nation! ...so far 8/28/2009

First let me give you my qualifications. I am in sales and travel ALL over the US. (in search of wings, in my spare time). I have been to Anchor Bar & Duff's. Fat Head's wins - hands down. They are big, meaty and the original is a great well-rounded sauce. Get them grilled for a nice added kick. The cheddar-jalapeno is a must for non-purists! PS, the beer selection is unmatched! Great atmosphere. PS - no chains or breading - ugh! Pros: Phenomenal selection, biggest wings, great taste! Cons: not close to home more

Everything is better in the burgh 7/23/2009

From the moment you walk in you cant stop smiling ,The thing that made it the best was the workers they have fun thelittle guy on the grill was getting crushed and singing and dancing, They joke with you at the counter and make you really feel like a regular.Althogh it was packed my Food was quick delicious and the price for the area was not at all unreasonabl. You can watch them prepare your food from start to finish. The chilli cheese fries are to die for. They have a steak called THE YINZER which is loaded with onions, green pepper, bannana peppers, mushroom, and toped with lettuce and tomatos. They even offered to wrap what i dont finish most places hand you a box.The decor of the place is relax, trully a great spot to eat.Way to bring a philly favorite to the burgh. Pros: steak and beer one stop shop!!!!!! Cons: there should be more more

Read this before you go to Fat Heads 7/20/2009

TGIFatheads...OK people..here's the issue...Fatheads has fantastic food if you can forgo any type of customer services or friendliness. Have you ever gone into Fatheads when there is more than 50 people in the place? (which is about 90% of the time). The hosts, bartenders, and waitstaff are just miserable people. I actually had a hostess roll her eyes at me and sigh when I requested she had a chair to my table for a last minute add on. I mean I've already waited 1 hour to get a table and she wants to put me back on the list because..well..i'm not sure why.. I was never given a valid reason. It was something like oh the waitress cannot get to the table if you add a chair..WHAT?.. Another time, I was sitting in the bar area. My waiter had been absent for about 10 minutes and there were about 10 people in the whole place.. I went to the bartender, requested a drink, and was told to go back to my table and wait for the waiter... WHAT?... It is unfortunate because I remember moving to the South Side in 1997 and Fatheads was a dive hole-in-the-wall bar with great food and great people.. now it's commercialized and it seems that Fatheads doesn't care about customers..why should they because they are jam packed all the time... Well, I'll tell you why you should.. because I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had the unfortunate experience of interacting with waitstaff, bartenders, and hosts who are cleary irritated by patrons and have treated patrons like they are a complete burden.. um..hello..you are working at one of the busiest restaurants in the most trendy area of town on a Saturday night... GET OVER IT!... So, I'm begging the powers that be at Fatheads to please educate the faces of your company on being decent human beings with understanding and patience... so I don't have to officially boycott you and start a movement of F*ck Fatheads... .. go to City Grill it's better... Pros: Food & Beers Cons: Service more

Awesome Sandwiches and service 7/20/2009

Stopped by Fatheads after a wedding in downtown Pitt. Heard about their legendary sandwiches from a family member and decided to make the trip over to the southside. Had some of the original wings to start and and the Jacko steak headwich. My sister got the slopes sandwich, and man was that thing huge. We finished a half each along with the delicious homemade potato chips... and we ate the rest on our trip back to long island. Our server was on top of everything from the minute we got there. From what I could tell that place is run pretty well. Worth the trip Pros: Good wings and cold beers Cons: Not too healthy...but who cares more

Quite Probably the WORST MEAL EXPERIENCE in PA 6/17/2009

The kitchen got an order wrong TWICE, nothing was done to apologize or ameliorate the situation, and management NEVER responded when I attempted to contact them after the fact. They obviously DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. Avoid this place like the plague, unless you like being treated terribly and overcharged. Cons: Lousy service, and management that doesn't care more

tastiest burgers ever! 3/15/2009

any toppings you get with their juicy beef patties will satisfy your burger craving. in addition there is a very good beer selection to go with your tasty burger. most of the beers are brewed in-house. Cons: place can get crowded very quickly more

Tons of variety 10/4/2007

everyone loves fat heads, highly recommended, good for sandwiches and BURGERS. the burgers are good the place is nice. Pros: I Good Burgers more

best sandwiches on the planet, and a must-eat wing night 8/22/2007

The ""Headwiches"" are ridonkulous. I had ""The Bender"": keilbasa, fried egg, provalone, crumbled hot sausage, fried onionstrings, roasted red peppers, wing sauce, and pepper mayo .. ARE YOU KIDDING!! This sandwich changed my life and ruined all other future sandwiches for me ... My eyes rolled in the back of my head, the great potato strings/fries wre a superb compliment, and there are about a billion great ales and brews to choose from. In a town with some great sandwich joints, this is by far the best! Pros: giant, creative, delicious sandwiches; Monday Wing Night Cons: bad for dieters and people who like to eat neatly more

Best hugh sandwiches 5/24/2007

Really great that the place has gone non-smoking. We all can breathe a sigh of relief. Good place to meet and great food. I highly recommend any of the fathead sandwiches, if you have a big appetite. My favoite is the Old Timer, love the anchovies. Very casual but only has one draw back, pretty noisy, but that is my opinion. Once you go there, you will definitely go back more

Definitely my favorite sandwich place! 6/4/2006

I highly recommend the fish sandwich and the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The beer selection is great, and for the most part the service is good, although there were a couple of mediocre servers that made a couple of visits less than enjoyable. The management, however, seems to be very customer oriented, and most of the waitstaff is quite good, especially the lunch servers. This is a great place to go with a group, and is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Pros: Sandwiches, Beer, Atmosphere more

Good Food .. Yea .. But the people .. 7/28/2005

I eat at Fat Head's two or three times a week .. because of the food .. or is it the people? .. Which people? .. The people on the stools? .. or the people behind the bar? .. or with the aprons? .. Amy .. Sara .. Stephanie .. Gary .. Buffalo Burger .. oops that's food .. anyhow, .. Go there .. but wait 'til I get a seat .. (go after 12:20 for lunch) That way, I'll get a seat .. Try the new sandwiches (and the old ones too ..) .. Oh yea .. Try a ""Chuck Shummer Draft"" (known as Arrogant Bastard) Pros: People, beer, food more

Burg Classic 1/15/2005

I just returned to the burg after moving to Colorado 25 years ago. I discovered Fat Head's on vacations back to the burg and found it to be the best place for wings, fries and sandwiches in town, or any town for that matter! I just love it there! I have traveled the world, and there always is that special place in most eveyplace, and Fat Head's is Pittsburgh's special place... Henry Hill Pros: great food, great landscape, great service Cons: , long lines at times, bad for your diet more

Wings/Beer 1/7/2005

If you plan to attend Fat Heads I suggest you get a beer and order some wings. I ordered the ""famous"" burger but after eating agreed with my girlfriend that it tasted more like average to me. I did however order some of their ""volcano wings"" and a cider which were very impressive. The Volcano wings were supposed to be the hottest wings around and being a ""wing guy"" I had to try them. They came in five and I got to three. Nuff Said! Their selection of beers is awesome to say the least. If you going out for wings and beer don't go to Hooters go to Fat Head's but if you taking the wife/Gf to lunch skip this place. Unless she likes wings and beer = ) Pros: Dark Beer, Light Beer, Wings Cons: , Fries, Available Seating more
