New chef is great!!!! 11/24/2010

They recently hired a new chef from Napa who is redoing the entire menu to reflect his dedication to local, organic, slow food. Downtown San Jose is sorely lacking in this kind of restaurant, and ESPECIALLY at this price point. My bf and I stopped in for happy hour to check it out. He is gluten free, so we started to ask questions about the menu, and the chef came out and gave us his guidance on the menu, and also offered to modify many dishes for us. In the end, we asked him to serve us several dishes of HIS choice, and they were indeed fabulous. FRESH seaweed salad (OMG awesome, not like the slimy stuff at the store with the sushi), and the entrees were delicious. Most of the entrees are sub $20, so we can afford to go back often. Only downside is the newness of the menu-- he explained that there may be some hiccups in the service in the next couple of months as the servers and staff get used to the new menu and the new concept. We'll be back for the food. Can't speak to the club, never been there that late, but I think they have new management as well as a new chef, so the club may be run differently than in the past. We experienced excellent and personable service, but we were sitting in the bar fairly early on a weeknight. more

Pumpin. 10/29/2010

Yea, the food is good. The music is pumping, this place turns into a hopping club after dinner. Feels weird and artificial though, maybe I am getting to old for the scene. But if you are looking for dinner and a party, this may be the place for you. more

RUDE EMPLOYEES AND RESERVATION SUCKS!!!! 8/18/2010

I'm like everybody else on here I had had reservation for my bday and it turned out to be the worst night. Me and my friends weren't on the guestlist and we had to wait in a long line which was stupid isn't that why clubs have guestlist so that you don't have to wait in line. Not only that we didn't have a table, which I was guranteed by the manager that me and my friends will be on the guestlist, a reserved table, with the bottles and stuff which I didn't any of those things that were guranteed, instead got treated like a nobody on your bday by the stupid security people, slow bartenders took forever on their drink orders, small dancing area where you can't even dance because you would end up bumping into somebody, didn't have any air conditioning on the dance floor, the dance area smelled like ass cuz people were all sweating a no air ventlation which made the place stink bad. Overall it was a bad choice to book an event here because of bad management about my reservation being guranteed to me, rude a** sercurity guys, the line took forever cuz the people in front only let you cut in if they know you or else you're stuck waiting in a long line having to hear the stupid security guys shouting at you if you're not in a straght line the girl that collects the money for the entrance acted like she was all that being rude if to me just for asking a question. I would not recommend booking any events employees were rude, long line, bad communication about reservations and stuff, took forever to order a drink, small dance floor, no airconditoner which sucks when you're dancing. SO DON'T VOTE FOR THIS PLACE AS THE BEST BAR IN SAN JOSE IT SHOULD BE KNOWN AS THE WORST BAR IN TOWN. :- more

WORST CLUB EVER! 4/25/2010

One word: TERRIBLE. In all aspects. If I could give negative stars to this establishment I most definitely would, I only put a star because you can't give zero. I paid for a table at this place and it was the worst experience I have ever had at a club. I have gotten tables and bottle service at many different clubs and this BY FAR is the WORST! I would not advise anyone to go there or to plan an event there. A group of friends and I got a $300 table for my birthday and they wouldn't let my party in before I got there, so they had to stand outside for 20 minutes in the cold. Then once I got there my friends that had taken the cab after me tried to get in and they made them stand outside in the line instead of letting them go in the VIP line. Then when the got to the front they told them they were 4 minutes late so they couldn't let them in! If they would have been let in as a VIP in the first place they would have been on time! The people at the door were the rudest people I have ever dealt with at a night club. We ended up leaving after being there less than a half-hour to go find the people who didn't get in. They charged us $100 gratuity on top of the $300 for the table and we got treated horribly and were only there for a half-hour, barely had a drink. The management is unprofessional and does not go the extra mile for you. I have emailed and called to try to get a refund and no one has contacted me back. So if you are looking at this place, don't. You'll get rude door people and terrible service all around. Pros: NO PROS! Cons: RUDE PEOPLE/BAD SERVICE/UNPROFESSIONALISM more

HORRIBLE SERVICE 2/28/2009

The food was great but service was awful. I actually have one of those certificates from a website and as soon as the server saw that I have a certificate she made a face. The server looks really fake and not sincere at all. They should hire better waitresses or servers. But the food is great. My husband enjoyed his steak and my plate was okay. more

worst place ever! 10/9/2008

I went there for my birthday having made reservations in advanced, I got there about 5 minutes late and the girl at the front started giving us attitude, I had reserved for 6 but only 4 of us were there and would not sit us until everyone was there! she didnt even want to give us a table and offered the bar area at the upper level, I should of left but instead got a smaller table and just wanted to eat, the food and drinks were waaaaayyyyyyy over priced and not even that good, it was way too dark in there and I just wanted to get out of there still hungry and bummed for having chosen them to spend my b-day it sucked!!!!!!!!!!! more

it was okay but it attracts the older crowd 8/15/2008

I would have to say this place is very nice on the inside. Its a bit small but the lighting and atmosphere is good. Im not to thrilled about the music that they play there. I love motif better. This place attracts the older crowd. It was okay but it wouldnt be my first choice to go. more

Overpriced and Overrated. 7/8/2008

The bartenders at Fahrenheit are by far the WORST and SNOBBIEST in downtown San Jose. My girlfriends and I were ready to spend a night out dining and drinking and dancing. Instead of visiting our usual favorite haunts, we thought we'd up the ante and check out Fahrenheit. I'd listened to some mixed reviews from other people, but I thought I'd try it out for myself!! Let me be the first to encourage anyone planning on going to Fahrenheit: SAVE YOUR MONEY and enjoy an evening out elsewhere!! First of all, it took us 20 minutes in a ridiculously short line to get in. The hostess was incredibly rude and walked away from us to deal with something else TWICE! Once we were inside, we headed straight to the bar where we waited another 30 minutes to ORDER our drinks. The bartender was unfriendly [that should have been obvious when he walked by us a few times before even stopping to get our order] and looked at me like I was an absolute moron when I asked for a bottled water. I politely explained that I was the designated driver and he just rolled his eyes and walked away. Forget trying to find somewhere to sit. And dancing? Forget about it.....there's not enough room to do either. The only redeeming quality is that it's close enough to other, more respectable establishments that are actually fun and happy to have your business. For a fairly new lounge, the employees seem to be under the impression that they're established enough to snub people at their own discretion. If I never return to Fahrenheit again, it will still be too soon. Pros: Proximity to OTHER San Jose nightlife venues. Cons: Snobby and expensive. more

Friday nights are great! 5/19/2008

Had a blast here this past Friday night. Came with a birthday group for some appetizers and drinks. Average price and the food was much better than what I would have expected. Had the tuna tartare and mandalay wraps. Both pretty delicious. They had 3 DJ's that night a dinner guy who spun some lounge music and then as it got later the other 2 played more of the typical dance tunes. Great variety of music and I enjoyed the remixes. Really good looking diverse crowd. 5 star experience for me and my friends and we will definitely be back. Pros: Good food, Great music, Awesome crowd Cons: San Jose shuts down at 2am. more

Pale in comparison 5/4/2008

? pale when compared to other downtown restaurants. ? 1. Completely lifeless waitress: no smile; no eye contact ? 2. Out of stock on beer: We had to take third choice. Bar manager WUWT? ? 3. Food took 37 min to reach table. ? 4. Pan seared scallops were small and mushy. What a rip. ? 5. Asparagus steak rolls were over-cooked and too salty for all four of us. ? 6. ?garlic mashed potatoes? were nothing but mounds of flavorless starch. Obviously, management and staff don't really care. more

San Jose's finest nightlife venue! 2/10/2008

Now I've been to all of these other "Ultra Lounges" downtown, but this is the only one thats an actual ULTRA LOUNGE. Now I understand why they have won so many accolades. I went here a couple weeks ago, probably been here a dozen times now. Great door staff, very friendly (I recommend getting on the guestlist, no cover until 11). The vibe inside cant be compared to any other nightlife venue in San Jose, except maybe Koji, yet theres hardly enough people there for that to count. Great looking people, safe and comforting enviroment. You can actually lounge here or go mix it up near the bar or shake it on the dance floor. The bar staff is pretty amazing, they have a few bartenders who do flair, its a pretty awesome show to watch. Never been let down with the music either. Yet to try the food, but maybe I will one of these evenings. Nothing bad to say from my experiences. Pros: Free guestlist, Flair bartender show, actual lounge seating Cons: none more

not so much 5/3/2007

This place is filled with douche-bags and wanna-bes. If you want to hang out with ugly people who think they're the finest, and who think this place is cool, then go there. Obviously they've never been any place better and are highly mistaken! They have extremely lame parties which they try to hype up, everybody that works there is a dork and basically...yeah. Not so much if you've drank wine in south of France. Cons: douche-bags everywhere more

Great Dining Experience, Sleek Ambiance, Attentive Service, Best Nightlife in Town! 2/27/2007

I made dinner reservations there with a group of friends. We were greeted politely upon our arrival and brought to our table which was all ready for us. I was really impressed with the wide array of items on the menu. We started with a few appetizers. The fried calamari still stands out in my mind, it was very tasty and the textures were wonderful. The ahi tuna appetizer was even better! It was probably the best I have ever had. As far as entrees were concerned, everything we ordered was excellent. The garlic noodles are a must! The dishes all came out in a timely manner (I?m the type of person who doesn?t like to feel rushed when eating, nor do I like to wait to too long for my food, so I was very happy with the pace). The prices were more than reasonable, the service was great and the food was delicious. After dinner, we stayed for a few drinks at the bar. The bartenders were great! All very friendly! We were having such a great time, we decided to stay and get a table. Luckily, they had one available. The table was in the upper lounge area which was great. It gave you the feeling that you were still apart of everything that was going on, but still felt a sense of privacy. The waitress was very polite and courteous. She really treated us like VIP?s. She was accessible, which was a miracle given how busy it was. She even found time to make our drinks for us. I?ve been to many clubs and lounges in San Jose, I must say that this was one of the best crowds I have ever seen. Everyone was having a great time. I would highly recommend Fahrenheit to anyone looking for a great place to eat or looking for a trendy place for a drink. Pros: The food, the service, the ambience and the crowd Cons: None comes to mind more

Great Happy Hour Enviroment & Dining! 2/6/2007

Some of my co-workers and I wanted to try something new so we headed over to Fahrenheit after seeing an ad in the Metro. I was quite surprised at the appearance inside, how modern the design was and the ambiance was terrific. We were greeted politely at the door, but rather than sit at a table we opted for the bar. Happy Hour prices were great with $3 specials on all beers, and they had a decent sized selection. The bartender was very courtesy and personable chatting off and on with us and other customers, seemed to be a lot of regulars. After glancing over a menu and being quiet impressed we decided to dine as well. While waiting for our food I glanced around, noticing a very mixed crowd, consisting mainly of young professionals like ourself. I received my thai chicken breast and again was impressed. One of my co-workers got the garlic noodles w. chicken and enjoyed it also. They definetly take time in preparing their food. Now I only give an 8, because I cannot comment on the nightlife, though if it is anything like what I experienced during happy hour, I will definetly try coming out sometime. Pros: Great Food and Awesome Happy Hour Prices Cons: I couldnt stay a bit longer more

Terrible Customer Service at such a fancy place. 2/4/2007

I'd like to start off by saying that this place is pretty nice and fancy, but thats as good as its gonna get! The employees that work there are pretty rude, yes, the customer service is ridiculous! I really do no have time to write reviews but I made it a point to write about this place. You are expected to order an alocoholic beverage at the bar! If you want to hydrate yourself with water, after all those other drinks you purchased, the bartenders pay NO attention to you.........not even a soda! Its obvious that the bartenders are not there to serve their customers but to keep feeding their pockets. On one occasion, the bartender started to yell at my friend, I think this bartender must have been going through some sort of withdrawal or something. The other bartender noticed that this guy was completely irrate so started helping us and told the other bartender to "be cool" and that guy still kept yelling. Its clear to me that the employees AND the manager there know that there are some customer service issues, Sad to say but I will not visit this place again. I dont understand how this place is considered upscale when the drunkest of the drunk act better than some of the employees that work there. Pros: Nice location Cons: customer service more

I agree Fahrenheit has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/1/2007

I agree Fahrenheit has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Me and a couple of girlfriends went out on Sat. 01/27/07 with only about 1 hour before closing and we got in for free because my friend knew the D.J. (About the only good thing) We went to the bar and each took a shot and started dancing the crowd was great and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Then me and another friend went to sit down on a few empty chairs, she got up to go ask the D.J. for a song and when she came back a staff member was sitting in her seat, she asked him if he could move because she was sitting there and he replied "no I work here" she thought she didn?t hear right and asked again, she got the same response then he moved. (oh yeah the staff member was all over this girl they were making out!!!! YUCK!!!!) So I thought it can't possibly get any worse that this?? The club is going to close soon. NO I WAS WRONG!!! I had mentioned to my friend that I was thirsty and wanted some water, so she went up to the bar and I soon followed, She asked the Bartender "can I get some water?" He looked at her like she was stupid and walked away from her, when he came back she asked him again and wanted to know why he walked away, before I knew it they were in a full fledged yelling match and the bartender looked like he wanted to jump over the bar and HURT HER!! Finally another bartender broke it up and gave us 2 water bottles. If it was not for the other bartender I'm sure he would have jumped over the bar because they couldn't calm him down. Then they escorted us out and some BIG GUY with tall hair wanted to know what happened like he really gave a care!! I NEVER IN MY 5 YEARS OF GOING TO CLUBS/LOUNGES HAVE I EVER BEEN TREATED LIKE THAT!!!! Well I'm glad word is getting around-----STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Nothing Cons: BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE more
