I do not recommend David's Bridal 2/23/2010

I purchased my wedding dress from David's Bridal. The original sales lady was helpful and I do love the dress I bought from them. I agree with previous reviews that their registration process is a bit tedious and beware that once they have your information you will get spammed! They sold my information to every possible vendor I can think of from Mary Kay to jewelers to honeymoon locations - it just goes on and on. Anyway I wasn't completely displeased with them until I called to find out their hours so I could take my dress in to have it steamed. I was advised in one of the most condescending voices I have ever heard that since I hadn't called three weeks in advance I'd have to pay $25 to have it steamed since they were so kindly moving my dress ahead "of all the other young ladies who had brought their dresses in on time". WOW. I don't mind paying the extra money even though I was told it was free and was told to bring it in a few weeks in advance - not specifically 3 weeks. After spending a significant amount of money in their store I would expect at the very least some kind customer service. Not somebody rude and condescending. It's just not worth having bad feelings over something as simple as getting a dress steamed. I paid $20 to a local dry cleaner who did a FANTASTIC job in ONE day. I would not recommend shopping with David's Bridal. Pros: They have some nice dresses Cons: Rude, condescending staff more

Horrifying Experience!! 4/21/2008

I am getting married next year and have been on the hunt for the perfect gown for about a month or two. I have been in Davids Bridal a few times and have been less than impressed each time, but they had the gown of my dreams so I decided to give them one last chance. The sales girl that was helping me this time was helpful and nice (that is where the praise stops) she pulled the dress and I went back to put it on. I came out and told her I was ready to purchase the dress and so she took me back to meet the seamstess. Now, I am not a small girl... the dress was a size 18 and it fit pretty much perfectly except for the way it sat on my stomach. I had tried on the same dress in a 20 but it would have required more alterations than need be. While I was back with the seamstress she was pinning straps and looking at the length (both needed no alteration) then she looked at the front of the dress and told me that she would need to let it out a little bit... I already knew that so I wasn't shocked. The comment that she made after that is what shocked and appalled me. She said "You know, if you lost some weight I wouldn't need to alter this dress at all." I was boiling inside and the poor sales girl had this look of sheer terror on her face... I looked at them both and told them they had lost themselves a customer and that I wanted to get dressed because I was leaving. I could have blown up, I could have yelled and screamed, but I don't think it would have made a difference. I will instead be calling the general manager later on toay and telling them that I will be looking for "my perfect dress" somewhere else! more

NEVER AGAIN 3/22/2008

Do not waste your time. We went in to look for a prom dress. We were required to register. Customers are required to wait for a "consultant". We waited 45 minutes and complained twice before a consultant became available. All she did for us was sullenly unlock a dressing room (of which there were several not being used). We were in the store for an hour! Just to try on 3 dresses! Ridiculous! If I could give David's Bridal no stars, I would. Pros: VERY personal attention for brides spending lots of money Cons: Too many to list here more

Poor Customer Service 3/10/2008

I originally went here in January of 2007 for their $99 sale. Turns out the only dresses that are $99 are size 16 and up. They don't even show you those dresses because they don't make good money on them. I didn't have an appointment. I came in at 5:15 p.m. They had me fill out all my information before I could even look at any dresses. They said I would have to wait a little bit before someone would help me because I was a walk-in. (You're not allowed to try any dresses on yourself). I waited for two hours. At 6:55 p.m. somebody finally helped me. They got me six dresses that didn't fit and gave me a fitting room. I didn't like any of them. Nobody came back and asked if everything was going okay and if I wanted any other dresses. I left feeling like I was treated like garbage. I think it was because they ask you if you're ready to buy today and I said if I find something and also my wedding wasn't until October. Weeks later I got a call from a Mary Kay consultant who said I had won a drawing for a makeover for my entire bridal party. If you know anything about Mary Kay then you know this is just a ploy to get you to buy their products at this "makeover". I was mad that David's bridal gave the information that I had to fill out to even look at a dress to somebody trying to solicite my business. I will never go here and tell everybody else not to. The dress may be cheaper than anywhere else but you will pay for it in other ways. Pros: really nothing Cons: bad service, mean sales people, did I already say bad service? more

Too pushy 12/30/2005

When I want to Davids Bridal it was cold, not literally. I couldn't shop on my own and shop through the dresses without a shadow. My mom and I wanted to talk things over, but we couldn't with the sales girl chimming in with her opinion. Every dress I tried on "I had to try on a veil," even though I didn't want one. "I had to try on shoes," even though I didn't like them. "I had to try on the bra with it," even though the dress didn't require it. It was very frustrating for me. My only experience shopping for "THE PERFECT DRESS" was ruined by recently de-virginized mormon girls trying to make a buck to feed their starving school bounds husbands and possibly 10 kids. Needless to say, I did not purchase my dress at Davids Bridal. more

  • In Short
A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.
