Good to do once 11/15/2007

Going to the observation deck on the top of the Stratosphere is good to do just once to say that you did it. After you see the view of Clark County and the surroundings, it's pretty much a quick dash to your car in the parking lot to go do some cooler stuff in Vegas. Pros: It's a unique view of Vegas Cons: You have to go to the Stratosphere to see it more

Weeeee! 10/26/2006

The one that shoots you up and the one that takes you out over the side of the tower and spins you around were very fun, exciting, extremely thrilling! I'm like not even impressed by most coasters anymore cuz I'm like immune to extreme thrills. But these two were awesome. I did NOT like the one that was like a coaster it just goes almost vertical and then lets you drop like you are going to slide right off the track and down the side of the building. It was not fun just nerve racking, cheap thrills. Pros: Nice view. Cons: I suppose if you have vertigo issues, well then... more

SKIP IT -- HORRIBLE!!! 6/23/2003

My wife & I wanted to see ""the view"" at the Stratosphere during our stay. What a D-U-M-P! We thought we'd get mugged walking through the casino. The place was dirty, the people sketchy, and we literally feared for our lives making our way through the loooooooooooong mall area to go up to the tower. To go up it's $8 a pop. You then walk through a METAL DETECTOR and get frisked by ""officers"" before you go up. Then the view is ... ho-hum. SKIP THIS ONE, and opt for Paris LV's Eiffel Tower View -- 1000X better! Pros: Only Stayed half hour Cons: Everything more

Don't go during the day... 12/18/2002

First of all they charge just to go to the lookout deck but they do give you a coupon for a free drink, there is no proper bar it's just a little snack stand with pre-made daquiries and beer. If you go during the day you'll see Vegas as it really is stark, flat and lots of large, cold buildings that stand out like sore thumbs in the landscape. The best part is the 360 degree view of the mountains. At least at night you get the lights. Unlike other towers and panarama views I've been to there are no museum or touristy type things inside to explain anything or give more bang to your buck just some badly drawn maps on the walls. The rides were closed for winter, and they make you take one of those pictures they try to sell to you afterward. Pros: mountain view Cons: boring, nothing of note, a waste of money more

Hee Haw! We're in Vegas! 9/25/2002

This is must miss! Go only if you're in the mood for a taste of the truly ""local"" Las Vegas experience, i.e. trailer trash! They make you wander through a ghost-town of a mall of refrigerator magnet stores staffed by toothless, mutant locals to get to the elevators, then nobody has the intelligence or courtesy to tell you where to go to get to the top. Waitress couldn't be bothered to tell me what type of red wine they have (""That's not my job!"" was her response.) We ordered right from the bartender; no tip for her. Go to the Eiffel tower or Rio if you want a view. Leave this attraction to Homer Simpson. more

Big Shot high roller...!!!!! 8/14/2002

Didn't get to ride the roller coaster (high roller) but the big shot was AWESOME. Not really scary unless you really don't like heights. But it does give a great view of Vegas up there. It is just attitude at altitude. more

The Air up there!! 7/30/2002

I can't begin to explain the rush that over comes you when you get to the top. The view is undescrible. Everytime we come to vegas we have to take the tip to the end of the strip to go over the strip. You can see everything West of the Mississippi! Okay maybe I'm over doing it. But the view is WONDERFULL. The rides are great. The BIG shot is definatley worth it. The roller coster I would leave for the kids Pros: View Cons: long lines, airless elavator more

Cool View 7/29/2002

Okay, although the line and elevator ride up to the top of the Stratosphere was horrific......the elevator and entranceway smelled like cheese and urine....it was worth it at the top...beautiful view of the city and all the lights in Las Vegas...can get very windy though.... more

Great Bargain 7/24/2002

I had been shopping around for a nice room for a little romantic getaway for me and my husband. After finding the kind of room I wanted for no less than $350 a night at every other hotel, a friend recommended that I call the Stratosphere. I got a Jacuzzi suite for the weekend at $150 a night. Yes, it's all the way at the end of the Strip, but who cares? Many of the hotel rooms have just been updated and redecorated so none of the garish purple and golds are there anymore. The staff was courteous and prompt and our room was wonderful. Pros: Bargain prices Cons: At the end of Strip more

Top Vegas Thrill Attraction 7/22/2002

This is the attraction most say they would not dare to go on. The big shot on top of the 1000 foot plus Stratosphere Tower. Not for the faint hearted. While your there, have an outstanding lunch or dinner at the Top Of The World Restaurant,or a quick drink in the Startosphere Bar!!! Pros: Unrivaled View Cons: it's High!!! more
