The first time I went to Citizen Kane's was just before the opera. The staff assured us that we would make the opening curtain and still enjoy a wonderful meal. They were right!! The steaks at Citizen Kane's are the THE BEST in Saint Louis. There isno comparing a chain like Longhorn to Citizen Kane's. They are not even in the same category. You are treated like family and a loved family member at that. I highly recommend Citizen Kane's. Pros: Food, Service, Valet parking Cons: Off the main road more

You have got to try Citizen Kane's. The atmospehere in there is wonderful, located in an old mansion. The appetizers were very good, the rosebud salad out of this world. The NY Strip was perfect. Lean, tender, tasty and huge. What a wonderful dining experience we had. When we make the trek to St. louis Citizen kanes is a must! more

Best steaks and food in general in town. Have eaten there several times with family and out of town guests. Every time has been a wonderful experience. Family owned and operated and it shows. Pros: great food, friendly atmosphere Cons: a bit cozzy, always have to wait more

Best of the Best in St. Louis 1/3/2003

I have had the pleasure of dinning at Citizen Kane's many times with my husband over the last year and a half. It is without a doubt the best there is. There food is one of a kind. I would love to recommend something off of the menu but it would be challenging to list only a few things. Everything there is spectacular! I have it marked below that it is not good for kids because this is a more grown up place but at the same time they were more than willing to prepare something for my 1yr. old last wk. Absolutely the best steak in town. Generous portions. Friendly staff. Located in a quaint converted house in historic downtown Kirkwood. I have eaten at the best steak houses across the country and I still rate them in the top 5. One taste and you will be convinced too. more

Fantastic Steakhouse 12/14/2002

Citizen Kane's is a great steakhouse without the pretension of some other steakhouses. My wife and I have eaten there about eight times, and never been disappointed. The steaks and sauces are the best in St. Louis (we can't speak for other entrees, though). more

This is a wonderful place. We first went there as a suggestion for use of a wedding gift. We enjoyed it so well that we go back every year for our anniversary, not to mention for other special occassions. We took our daughter there for her High School Graduation. She absolutely loved it. The service is wonderful and the food is fantastic. Now, we give out gift certificates for wedding gifts ourself! It's a great choice. Pros: A little pricey Cons: Worth every penny more

Steak houses seem to be in two categories - $16 and $26. Kanes falls in the $26. For about that you can select a strip or filet and get a salad and starch to go with it. The meat is awesome. Cooked to perfection in a generous portion. The staff is attentive but not overbearing and the atmosphere is upbeat. This is the best of the $26 steak places. Others compared to - Dierdorf & Harts, Sams, Andrias, St. Louis Steak (is it still open?) Mike Shannon's. Pros: Quality, Portion, Service more

Steak & Seafood Excellence 7/22/2002

Truly a wonderful dining experience. Dining within what was formerly a victorian home adds greatly to the ambience. I would highly reccomend any of their steaks or seafood selections. more
