If I were to rate the Children's Hour just on its merchandise, I would give it four stars because of the wonderful items they carry. They have lots of European and other fine clothing brands that other stores don't carry, for children and adults.
However, their customer service can be quite terrible. Some of the salespeople are very nice, but the owner is downright rude and a few of the salespeople also give very poor customer service.
I once went in to the store looking for a specific book that I really liked and wanted to buy, and the owner spent several minutes telling me how much she strongly disliked the book before she told me she could order it for me. Needless to say, I went elsewhere to buy it.
A few weeks ago, the Children's Hour was having a sidewalk sale and had a large sign outside advertising that everything on the sidewalk was 70% off. I asked two different sales ladies if everything was 70% off, or just some items, and they both assured me that everything outside was 70% off, but that they hadn't finished marking all the items down on the tags and the right price would be given us when our items were rung up. My mom and I both bought quite a few outfits, and when we looked at the receipts later, we discovered that we had been overcharged on the majority of what we bought. We took the clothes and the receipts back to the store that day, and the owner grudgingly adjusted our receipts (the difference was $250!), and complained and sighed loudly the entire time she was doing it. She told us that she didn't want to sell some of the items for 70% off and when we told her that the sign outside said ""70% off"" and that her salespeople were telling people that all the items were 70% off, she didn't say she was sorry, but just gave us a dirty look. I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely, especially after spending several hundred dollars. I really wish their service matched their merchandise, but it just doesn't.
