I live outsit the valley but drive in for The Cildrens' Hour about once a month. They have any children's book imaginable and a polite and helpful staff. I once went in for an inexpensive gift for my niece and even though I only spent $10 the had it wrapped in a gorgeous box with flowers and ribbons all over. The women's shoes are fantastic as well.

This book store is the best in all of Utah. Unlike the large chains who hire employees who are satisfied with the lowest pay scale, breathe and take up space only just to collect their measly earnings, act put out when they have to take your money and probably can't read; the folks who make this shop so great are knowledgable & helpful. Great atmosphere, good location and wonderful selection of books, too.
Pros: Great selection. Wonderful employees!
Cons: There are no cons at this place!

This quaint little shop has tons of different books and is a great place to find a rare LDS book. If you can't find what you're looking for, they will locate it and order it in for you. You can get lost looking at all the old rare books, it almost takes you into another world doing so.
Ken Sanders Rare Books is located in downtown Salt Lake City and is only about a block and a half from a TRAX station. They do have parking, so if you drive that is not a problem.

Golden braid books has everything you do not expect to find in a bookstore in SLC. it's not just for people who know their new age. It has great gifts, great gift wrapping. I was surprised at their kids selection, local artist cards, cute purses, calendars, journals... I wander around for a hour every time I'm at Golden Braid.

To The Customers, Friends, and Family who knew Skip.
Skip passed away on Wed. November 26, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He touched everyone, that came into his life, was know not only for his kindness, smile, but his great gift of gab & his stories.
If any of you who came to Utah Book in the early hours on a Sat. you would fine Skip, Pete, & Tom playing poker. Skip worked at Utah Book for many years, next to his side kick, friend & brother Peter. They were half owners of the store.
Skip was not only a great man, but he was our brother. We loved him a great deal and will miss him riding up on one of the girls ( his motor cycles).
Piece Out Big Brother!! Keep It Square :)

I love this place. I love to read, and Barnes and Noble has almost anything I want. I spend forever in there, and Dakota is my favorite. He is nice, and knows tons about books. He's great to talk to and very friendly. He makes me want to go there everyday and spend all my money. :)
Pros: Dakota!, Chairs, Great atmosphere
Cons: The Gateway gets cold, Starbucks (yuck), No Harold and Maude

This Barnes and Noble Bookstore location is one of the best. They have plenty of room for selection and they offer a wide range of books to accomidate a wide range of interests. If you want to go to a popular bookstore for the afternoon this one will be sure to make you happy. Discount tables are always brimming with great finds. I particularly like their American history section. Parking is good and the staff is well trained.

And I know, 'cause I own the place and have for over 36 years.
It has been a most enjoyable enterprize for me and hopefully for many many of you customers whose comments are heard almost daily at the store go something like this " Oh my, this is the funnest store in town. Why didn't I come hear sooner?"
And I say '" Yes, Why didn't you? And what made you stop by today""." They respond with something like "I dunno, been wanting to stop here a million times but just didn't."
Well, now we're both happy that they did.
And they just grin all over.
So stop by ,. I think you'll love it too.
We have so many fun items, including Novelty Hats, wigs Magic, Jokes, Makeup, Mustaches and on and on.

Sam Weller's Books is a nice, independent bookstore that offers new and used books. The selection is fabulous and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. If they dont have a book you are looking for, they will special order it for you. They have all types of books to choose from--fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, travel guides, and more. The prices are great. The only bad thing is that you have to park in the street and not a parking lot. I love this book store.

They also have a large selection of back issues, toys, supplies, and other goodies. They have a subscription service so you can be sure never to miss an issue of your favorite comic. It's a great store.
