A Quaint Blast from the Past 5/21/2012

Chef-O-Nette is a small eatery in what appears to be a rather upscale neighborhood. Don't let this influence you on the prices of the faire here. Decked in 1950's decor reminiscent of family diners (as opposed to malt shops), the atmosphere is pleasant and inviting. I discovered this place when I needed to go to the pharmacy on the other end of the center. And am I very happy to have found it. I plan to go back again some time and try the signature sandwiches. The meal I had was decent, it was a veal parmigiana. It was decently portioned and presented well. The sauce could have used a little improvement, but it was still pretty good. The restaurant has eat in, carry-out, and drive-thru options. It's been touted as one of the first restaurants in the country to have a drive-thru window. more

The real deal 11/6/2011

I grew up in U.A. and ate at the Chef-0-Nette several times each week. Worked a few summers at the Tremont Ace Hardware and cleaned my God Mothers windows at the yarn shop at the opposite end of the shopping center. While I now live in Florida and vacation in Michigan we always stop by in the summer to get a Hangover and a chocolate malt. Today, my family makes Hangovers on the grill by the pool in Florida. Could never live without them, but always have to get the real thing once a year. Been going there since the mid 60's. more

You Must Visit this Famous Diner! 2/10/2010

This restaurant should be on the list for anyone new to Columbus or passing through. Worth a detour into the local community of Upper Arlington. Started in the 50's, the Chef-O-Nette offers authentic diner cuisine, from staples such as burgers (try the Hangover), fries and milkshakes to American classics such as meatloaf, beef tips and noodles, roast chicken and tapioca pudding. Great carry-out. Call 614-844-444 ahead and swing by their drive through to pick it up. This is historically regarded as America's first drive-through window. Closed on Sunday, but good hours otherwise -- 7:30-8 PM 6 days a week. People have been coming for 3 generations and its a huge spot for locals, especially on Saturdays. The restaurant even has a dedicated fan club set up on FaceBook (search for Chef-O-Nette). Looking for hard-to-find/vintage candy brands that now have limited distributorship? They fully stock some of the best classics, such as Sky Bars, Boston Baked Beans, Lemonheads, Clark Bar, Neccos, Beeman's Gum, Junior Mints and Good & Plenty! Pros: Over 50 years old with a huge cult following, great food Cons: Closed Sundays more

SUPER cheap! 3/28/2006

Chef-O-Nette doesn't look much from the outside, but inside, the decor retains lots of original 1950s decor. In total, we ordered 2 burgers (rather small, but delicious), 2 fries (hot and fresh), a soda, a water, a bowl of chili (a little watery) and a side of coleslaw (sweet and fresh), and the bill came to just over $11! Incredible! Pros: Parking/Location, Value for money, Ambience/Decor more

Old Time Realism 10/30/2002

This is the best original diner still in business today. This place has the nostalga....this is the real mccoy. Go for the Chefo Burger and fries. Can't miss. Daily specials are also very excellent and you can't beat the milkshakes, only if they were bigger. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Inexpensive, great quality more

Pros: Drive up Window, Great Staff, Great Food more
