I have been to the Columbus Museum of Art several times, and each time we visit, we see a wonderful special exhibit. They have an impressive number of works by well-known artists (I would have thought a small time town like Columbus would not). The admission prices are extremely reasonable, and the staff is always very helpful.

This a a great place to see a show. They get in big name entertainment. Parking and traffic is definately a problem. Also, the beer is 7.00 and served in a paper cup. So, bring your wallet if you're having a beer.

My husband and I love taking our kids places that are not only fun but do have some educational value to them. Not that we never do anything just for fun...but COSI is a place that both of us went to as children and wanted to share it with them. We are now totally addicted! We bought 2 year memberships! You can go whenever you want for free, you get emails or mail about special members only things going on with the Museum also. You also get 20% off in the gift shop. IF you live anywhere near COSI, we live in Ashland, Ky and drive approx. 3 hours to Columbus, but it is so worth it. When we have school breaks we go, and end up only needing about $150 for gas and food. Then $25 when we get there to get into all the extra spots in the museum.
If you can get to COSI and have never been, you need to go! It is an amazing and fun place to take your family!

Newport makes music feel the best possible way it can. Reconstructed from an old theater hall, Newport provides number one entertainment for any audience, and there are multiple levels from which to view the bands playing. There is also a bar inside with well-priced drinks and a side door for smoking, while still being able to hear the music. Prices are good as well as everything you'll experience at the Newport.

More
My kids have been dragged to every museum in the state, and this is still one of their favorites. They have a steady stream of changing exhibits, like a Georgia Okeefe collection, and Renoir's Women, but they also have an excellent permanant collection on display. We often go from room to room just visiting our favorites. The docent tour at 2pm is nice, but the joy for us is in wandering around reading the plaques and finding new pieces. Eye Spy is the children's exhibit, which includes LOTS of hands-on exhibits: dress-up costumes, rubbings, draw your hero, perspective activities. Free on Sundays doesn't include parking or featured exhibits, but admission on every other day is very reasonable. Don't forget to check out the cafe...they do really nice soups and salads, and the kids will dig the cookies. A great educational afternoon, rain or shine!

The FPC is so breathtakingly beautiful, each greenhouse room houses plants from a different climate, from tropical to desert. All the plants are labeled and the displays teach you about weather, horticulture, animal-plant interaction, and lots more. There is an extensive ant farm, and you can feed the lorikeets by hand nearly every hour. The featured exhibits are awesome, whether travelling ones like the Chihouly glass or chocolate tree exhibits, or seasonal like the butterflys 'n blooms exhibit, they are all worth seeing and learning about. There is a cafe, which is good for a quick snack, and a small gift shop. The grounds are perfect for flying a kite, taking a walk, shooting off a model rocket, or just playing on the playground. We go so often, we bought a membership for the family. Check out their list of fundraising events too: the Mother's Day plant sale, the wine tastings, the dinner-and-meet-the-artist get togethers are great for grown-ups.

My husband wanted a new doodad for a broken guitar he was repairing. On a whim, I brought it here and asked them for the doodad to fix this bit. In exactly those words. They not only got me the part, but gave me some info on common pitfalls of repairing that bit. I brought it home, and my hubby was amazed I managed to surprise him with the right stuff, and sound like I made sense when I passed on the doodad warning.
I still don't even know what I bought, just that I'll never go anywhere else...they didn't laugh much and got me exactly what I needed for less than my husband had guessed it would cost. I was thrilled. Oh, and their guitars are so gorgeous, even I wanted to buy one. Just to hang on the wall and look at....:)

Magnolia Thunderpussy has been around for at least 20 years. Original in the campus area, this music store has a very wide selection of music to suit anyones taste. They also sell used CD's so you can get a lot of music without breaking the bank. And I believe they will buy or trade your old CD's that you dont listen to anymore. It is just a fun little store to go shop around in and check out some good tunes. Oh yeah, and if you like stickers or patches for your hoody or backpack, they have a really cool alternative selection.
