Horrible Experience 5/21/2010

I would never use this company again. They were rude and obnoxious. I have never written a review before but but felt obligated to because of the horrible experience I had with them. I can not state enough how bad this company treats it customers. I would never hire them for a wedding or event again and would encourage you to hire one of their competitors. Cons: Rude more

EXcellent Experience 10/10/2009

ERIC! ERIC is amazing. Miss Ruth and I have been to Charleston countless times over the years, and have never used a ""pedicab"" previously. After a LONG walk from the Rutledge House to the Aiken-Rhett House, we were spent. We called, Eric arrived within 10 minutes. he was gracious, warm informative, positive and a great representation of himself, his education, and his company. We were so impressed that we hired him to take us on a dusk/evening tour into the Battery--with the sole instruction--take us to places you like to ride. We were not disappointed. In fact he took us onto the College of Charleston Campus--a first for us and most delightful at night. I would highly recommend him and the company. These are good and hard working people. Bravo guys--and Eric--fantastic. Pros: Informed, hard working, friendly riders Cons: Need to be comfortable with waiting for the rider to arrive more

Horrible Experience! 8/31/2009

I had a similar experience with the reserved wedding rickshaw not showing up on time...\r \r My husband and I had a horrible experience on our wedding night with the Charleston Rickshaw Company. We had the perfect day leading up to our send-off and had reserved a rickshaw a few weeks prior (and paid in advance) as we thought it would be a clever way to exit our reception. \r \r In the days leading up to the wedding, my wedding planner followed up with the owner of the company, Sean Nemtiz, to ensure that the rickshaw would be present by 10:50 for an 11:00 pm departure. He assured her that everything was all set and that the rickshaw would be there by 10:50 pm. \r \r At 10:50 on the night of the wedding, our wedding planner walked outside our reception venue to find no rickshaw in sight. She proceeded to call the company in which their response was that they were having problems with the rickshaw but that it would definitely be there by 11:00. At 11:00, she called again, only to hear that it was “on the way and that there was nothing he could do about it.” Our planner very calmly explained the situation to him (that the wedding guests were waiting outside wondering what was going on) and he made it very clear that he did not care. \r At 11:10, she called again and was told that the rickshaw was there when in fact there was no rickshaw in sight. Finally, when she called the last time at 11:20, he said the rickshaw was just down the street and about five minutes later we finally were able to see the flashing bike lights making its way slowly down Broad Street. \r \r We understand that problems happen and everything can not always go perfectly, but the whole point of our wedding planner giving the company her cell phone number was so they could reach her if there was a problem. Had they made her aware that the rickshaw was going to be late, she could have kept our guests upstairs dancing and having a good time until it arrived or arranged another form of transportation. Unfortunately because of the long wait, many of our guests ended up leaving without seeing us off as they had other cabs reserved and, quite frankly we didn’t know when and if the rickshaw would ever arrive.\r \r Sean was fully aware of the situation and never once apologized or tried to make the matter better. An apology goes a long way and he seemed extremely bothered and aggressive when my mother contacted him the Monday following the wedding to verbalize her disappointment. All we really wanted was an apology and we received nothing from him but sarcasm and a very bad attitude. \r \r For all the brides out there (or for visitors traveling to the area) I highly encourage you to look elsewhere when booking your rickshaw. There is a great company—Charleston Pedicab (843-577-7088) that does a fantastic job and will actually pick you up when they say they are going to. Sean and his fleet could stand to learn a lesson from them and a lesson on how to run a good business. They are failing in all aspects and should be avoided at all cost.\r Cons: Too many to list more

do not use for wedding 8/25/2009

Renting rickshaw for my daughter's wedding. Paid in advance was told rickshaw would arrive at 11:00 to transfer bride and groom after wedding. Confirmed at l0:45 told rickshaw was on way. Rickshaw never arrived until 11:30 wedding guests had already departed for home. Several attempts to contact never received acknowledgement or apology, Cons: not reliable won't respond to problem more

Joey was great! 10/9/2008

I have avoided rickshaw (pedicab) services in other cities because I have heard they tend to be expensive or that the drivers will rip you off.\r \r Not so with Joey with Charleston Rickshaw. His price for delivering us from near the Market area (Charleston) to our Marion Square hotel was very fair and reasonable. \r \r He took us the ""scenic"" way showing us some streets and blocks that we had not been on. \r \r I hope that the tip I added indicated my satisfaction with his excellent service.\r \r By the way, the pedicabs have a much smoother ride than I expected. \r \r \r \r \r Pros: Can be faster than motorized traffic in some situations; better viewing of sites you are passing. Cons: More expensive than the city bus; more expensive than walking! more
