CASA PORTUGAL 1200 CAMBRIDGE STREET CAMBRIDGE MA. 11/9/2010

On Nov 8, 2010 We to the CASA PORTUGAL for lunch, and was greeted by our server ""JOE"" he was great. The menu was very inviting. As I said we went for lunch but, ended up ordering form the dinne menu ( by choice )There were 4 of us, my 2 daughter-in-laws and my wife and I.We started with the soup, 3 Kale and 1 portuguesse soup.Appertizers were Chourico assad & fava/ linguica. 3 Bife Portugessa and 1 Bife a Casa. all very tatsey and tender, just the right amount of seasoning. For wine we had the vinho de casa ( house wine ) Now it was time for the dessert, 2 Flan, 1 Arroz Doce ( aweet rice pudding ) and 1 Mollotof (light merainge).I cannot complement the waite staff enough, he was very cordial and was right there when we needed him Joe was great. We will retun many times. Everything was excellent.Neede doggie bags for all we could not eat but, we will have the rest for lunch today 11/9/10 more

The oldest Portuguese restaurant in Boston, Casa Portugal remains a simple rustic gem that serves incredible Iberian food. 1/19/2009

The oldest Portuguese restaurant in Boston, Casa Portugal remains a simple rustic gem that serves incredible Iberian food. With its native artwork and painted wall murals, this intimate eatery feels like a traditional Portuguese home. Bread and delicious olives start the meal off right. The appetizers sparkle, including Mexilao a Estoril, an aromatic steaming bowl of mussels in fish oil and wine; and chourico assado, spicy Portuguese sausage served on a small flaming grill. For main courses, try the wonderful caldeirada a Portuguesa, a large metal bowl of clams, squid, mussels and fish in a parsley wine sauce. While many of Inman Square?s Portuguese restaurants focus on seafood, Casa Portugal also specializes in meat dishes. Great choices include a grilled scalloped pork in garlic sauce; and the Bife a Portugusa, a juicy steak with egg on top. All entrees come with soup, rice and their irresistible Portuguese fried potatoes. Finish the meal off with their terrific desserts like arroz dolce; and natas de ceu, a creamy pudding topped with cookie crumbs. If you want to experience the place that started Cambridge?s rich tradition of outstanding Portuguese restaurants, stop by Casa Portugal. more

A little piece of Portugal in Cambridge. 3/9/2006

The food was great, and the ambience charming. I would highly recommend this place. more

Great food and value 3/5/2005

Made a second trip her and decided to highly recommend it. The portions here are large, the wine list strong but inexpensive and most importantly, the food is very good and fresh. Arroz valenciana, the prosciutto plate and any meat dishes are highly recommended. The flan is incredible. It's well worth a trip for a casual group dinner. DEFINITELY make a reservation on the weekend. We've noticed a lot of people don't do it and end up waiting. Pros: Fresh, authentic food, Large Portions, Great Value more

Check this place out 12/7/2004

If you are looking for a not so upscale place to spend an evening check out Casa Portugal! I visited with a group of friends who usually has something to say about places we go, and often, at least one of us is not happy. Guess what, all four of us we were impressed this time! Quality of food, wine (under $15 a bottle) service, and atmosphere were excellent. Our waiter had a very good sense of humor which made our evening even more enjoyable. These guys deserve thumbs up! Pros: excellent food, good service, great value more
