Great Hike! I hiked it twice in 6 mountains. First with a friend from Brazil in January of 2008 on an afternoon walk from the mall. Second, with the Love of my Life who decided it would be fun. We hiked it together. She was fantastic! So brave & athletic. She ran up he mountain. \r \r She now loves it as a right of passage with each new coming year. She has gone many times even though we are no longer together.\r \r Tip: Watch out for snakes, bring plenty of water, snacks & camera. Stop at the top & enjoy the moment like Alfred Lord Tennyson poem, ""Eat a Peach"" tells you to. more

Beautiful and fun Hike! 6/20/2010

Lived in the Scottsdale area for 6 years, hiked it often. now in Colorado we only hike it when we visit, gets harder each time! you forget how challenging it is! Pros: great excersise! friendly people, views are incredible Cons: Parking, one car in only when one car goes out. more

Best Hike In Phoenix 6/11/2010

I have lived in Phoenix since 2005 and have hiked Camelback Mountain hundreds of times. It truly is the most rewarding hike around because the views are incredible, you typically see some interesting creatures like Chuckwallas and Harris Antelope Squirrels (rarely a rattlesnake) and you leave knowing you just got an awesome cardio workout as well. Pros: Beautiful views and a great workout Cons: Parking after 6 AM more

Fantastic hike - best view in Phoenix 12/11/2007

I was in Phoenix only four days and did this hike twice. It was a fantastic climb to the top. A bit challenging which made it fantastic. The way down isn't as pleasant and requires a slow-go. The view at the top is amazing with no obstructions. Everyone on this hike is so very friendly and dog friendly as well. Be sure to bring your pooch some water. It will be needed. Pros: many pros Cons: nothing to mention more

Conquered Camelback 4/15/2003

This hike is perfect for hikers between the beginner and experienced level. Experienced hikers will find the hike to be fairly easy. However, if you're looking to challenge yourself, to exercise those legs, and to enjoy the Arizona outdoors and view at top, then I would recommend the hike. Certain parts are fairly steep, so take your time. It can get crowded, but fellow hikers are friendly and considerate. Don't forget the water! Cons: Limited parking more

Relax at the Beautiful Park 8/7/2002

Echo canyon is beautiful!!! You can relax at the park, or exercise by climbing up the beautiful sculptured mountain......Surrounded by some of the cities most beautiful homes......it is worth a visit. Pros: free!, good for exercising, good location Cons: small park, can be dangerous, weather in summer more

Great city view 7/22/2002

One of the most crowded hikes in Arizona, but the terrain and view at the top make it worthwhile. This isn't an ideal hike for young children or the elderly, as scrambling is required in steep sections. For an easier hike with equally stunning city views, try Squaw Peak. Parking on the Echo Canyon side is horrible, expect to walk at least a 1/2 mile on weekends. Pros: Great views Cons: Crowded, Not enough parking more
