I've never eaten better crab than at Bob Chin's. I've also never had a better mai tai (or two...), consumed...

Take the money you would have spent here, and bring it somewhere with ambience and real plates. The seafood is fresh, but for the price I prefer Pappadeaux or a place where the ch...

Not as good as they once were 7/20/2006

Everybody has heard about Bob Chinn's a HUGE seafood restaurant in Wheeling. I had been going there for years. However, their prices have risen along with the lines nd the service can be spotty. That having been said, there's a huge selection of fresh fish and therefore, it's worth a visit. Go for lunch or early-bird to get lower prices and shorter lines. I would say that David Street Fishmarket has better food for less money, with a much shorter menu. The Bonefish grill in Skokie, also with a much shorter menu, has food that's as good at considerably lower prices. more

The best seafood. 3/22/2006

I can't say enough about this wonderful restaurant. The seafood selections . . . if you can't find it here, it may not exsist. One of the most beneficial things for me (my husband doesn't care for any kind of fish) is the fact that even though they obviously specialize in seafood, they also have a large variety of other items to choose from on their menu. One warning, go early, there's almost always a long line! more

Seafood 3/1/2006

This huge restaurant is one of the many great places to enjoy seafood. They have a huge menu, filled with so many different fresh seafood options. Its a big restaurant and very casual. It does get a bit loud in here and the seating can seem a bit cramped on busy weekend nights, but the food is really tasty and you will enjoy the laidback atmosphere. While the food is pretty expensive, the portions are pretty big and the food is always really delicious. You can save a bit of money by sitting in the bar on Tuesdays and then with every drink purchase, you get an entree for a very low price. But either way, this is a great seafood place! more

It is a legend 9/24/2005

What can I say about Bob Chinn's? Well it is crowded, noisy, and you get you share of garlic if you eat the rolls. But we always go there each time we are in the Chicago area. This is a legend in the area and something you should experience at least once. The seafood is fresh and the Mai Tai's are world famous. more

You Will Crave the Crab 8/15/2005

Bob Chinn's has THE best crab I've ever eaten, and the wait to get in proves it. It's been around for quite some time now, and it's just as good as it used to be when I was a kid. It's a bit far from the city, but well worth the trip. Prices are very good for the quality and quantity of seafood you're getting (dishes are between $25-50). I recommend the steamed King Crab legs. Oh, and you should try their famous Mai Tais also (you can get it in a pitcher and then it's a really good deal). It's very casual, so feel free to wear your jeans. more

Impeccable Service 7/18/2005

I have been here once but I heard so many great things about the restaurant. I think the service is what stood out the most. The waiter was very attentive, patient, and so very helpful! He was friendly and always took care of our table. I would go back for that reason alone. The rolls are very good. We were informed that it is made with olive oil. Most people things it's butter. You will definitely want more rolls! Very good food! more

Amazing Food -- the best seafood in the Midwest! 7/11/2005

If you haven't eaten at Bob Chinn's, you haven't had seafood. Bob Chinn's is a rarity in the midwest, a great place that flies their food in fresh every day, and that takes care in producing it. I've had a variety of fish (typically blackened, which is fantastic!) and have never been disappointed. Their crab legs are also great, but those are easier to find elsewhere so I typically get the fish. On a note -- the Chicago Bob Chinn's is not actually owned or operated by Bob, so make sure you go to the Wheeling location for the authentic experience. If you live in the Midwest, go to Bob Chinn's! more
