Disappointing, but questionable health practices 7/17/2008

I work near B-Bagels & have swung in for yrs - but bummed today to see some very sloppy health practices:cashier handling $,no gloves,& then grabbing forks by the tines for customers w/salads(they were stuffed in a cup upside down). A man who might be an owner in the prep area, no gloves, handling the phone, papers, then pushing cheese bagels down into the basket. Granted,3 sandwich prep people had gloves on,but I was pretty turned off by the lack of discipline w/health safety. That does it for me there. more

Best Bagels on the Eastside 10/26/2007

Some years ago there was a pretty good chain of bagel shops called Bernie's Bagels. They were bought out and quickly run into the ground. Since then, there has been nothing good until Blazin' Bagels. Granted they are not actually boiled, then baked but steamed and baked. Still, this is as close as you're going to get to a NY Manhattan style bagel in the Seattle Metro area that I know of. They have all the usual suspects such as sesame, poppy, garlic, onion, everything etc. plus some odd things like French Toast which my wife loves for some reason. One thing I find wanting is their breakfast bagels. Light on the cream cheese, whimpy bacon or sausage, just sort of lacking. I take them home, cook up what I want and make my own which I find much more satisfying. Therefore the lack of the 5th. star. That's just me. I don't think you will ever be disappointed with the bagels if you give this place a try. more

HAZARDOUS BAGELS 10/12/2007

JoAnn R (below) must place fruit into the same hazardous category. There’s always a chance you could get hit on the head by a rogue apple. I watch what I eat. I read ingredient lists. I shop at PCC, Whole Foods, and Organic to Go. I frequently eat at Blazing Bagels. The PCC "approved" ingredient list looks like this: unbleached wheat flour, water, brown sugar, malt flour, salt, yeast, calcium sulfate, and enzymes. If I don’t stay on top of my bagels, they get hard. Why – because there’s NO preservatives. Thank the Lord in heaven there’s still quality food, made without dangerous chemicals, reasonably priced, and out-of-this-world delicious. JoAnn R… check your own label before you slander the one you haven’t read. more

WARNING...THESE BAGELS ARE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH 9/27/2007

It is unfortunate that these bagels do not come with a health warning label. They contain unhealthy preservatives and refined sugar. For the health conscious, the Seattle bagels that Puget Consumer Coop sells are the best choice. Why support a business like Blazing Bagels who doesn't care about the health of his customers. more

New York in Redmond 10/7/2006

Blazing Bagels is our office's favorite lunch spot ~ perfect bagels, my favorite being the jalepeno, but a turkey sandwich with onions, lettuce & plain cream cheese on an egg bagel leaves me happy & full for hours. If visiting, keep in mind that the service is kinda New-Yorkish as well...it's basically a wholesale warehouse that does a little retail on the side, and this becomes quite apparent when you show up. Instead of a door, you shove your way in through an industrial curtain. If you head to the register and ask for an apple pie bagel, they will give you a "you're a moron" look, and point to the bins.... you should choose your own bagel, find some tongs, then bag it yourself before heading to the register. If you want it toasted, they may grudgingly retrieve it for you. Likewise, be sure to use the pre-printed order form pad for sandwich orders, lest you face similar barely-veiled impatience. On my last visit, I waited a good 5 minutes for attention from the cashier as she was busy complaining/chatting with someone who was apparently a co-worker not currently on duty. She had been working since 7:30 that morning, and had been in till 1:00 the night before. I know, because I heard it several times. If you can get over the seriously non-Pacific NW attitude and learn to go with the flow, your reward will be some delicious bagels that'll have you coming back again, despite the occasional Soup-Nazi type atmosphere. more

Almost Like New York :) 8/30/2006

Blazin Bagels is the best bagel place I've been able to find anywhere in the state! :D It comes the closest to the New York bagels I miss so much. This is my favorite way to while a way the time when I'm waiting for the car to get out of the tire shop around the corner. (Used to be Big O's, now something else. Not a bad place, either.) :D They also carry "day old" bagels, muffins, etc. While they're not still hot from the oven, they're quite tasty and definitely satisfy the kiddos. :) more

Every Bagel Under the Sun 9/12/2005

They deliver to business. I worked at a place that had Joy from Blazing Bagels. We were always excited to see Joy. I like getting an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese or garlic cream cheese (depending on how many meetings I had that day). The garlic is strong and tasty. Their Asiago cheese bagels are good too. If your workplace hasn’t arranged a visit by Blazing Bagels, you can visit them. They have a big selection of juices and drinks. They also make sandwiches there. They are in the business park just South of 520 and East of Marymoor Park. Turn at the Brown Bear car wash. more
