My son attended Montessori at Denver Place from 10 to 13 months of age. There are some good teachers there who genuinely care about the children, but our experience was bad enough that I felt it necessary to write my first online review. Our problems included, 1.In the three months he was there he went from 75th percentile height and 50th percentile weight to 75th height and 15th weight. There were many days where he was fed solid food only once during a 9 hour day. They believe in consequences for your actions and I saw a 10 month old go without lunch because he accidentally threw his plate while playing. 2.My son was exhausted and extremely cranky at the end of the day and never napped more than an hour(many days he only took a 30 minute nap in a 9 – 10 hour day). I was unable to convince the teachers to follow the schedule that worked at home and I felt that all of my suggestions fell on deaf ears. 3.They have many surfaces in the room easy for the kids to climb and fall off of, I came to pick him up many days to find him on top of a bookshelf or a table while the teacher was chatting away on the phone with a friend. One day he had a knot the size of my fist on the back of his head and I was not notified. Many days he had bruises that the teachers could not explain. I was especially concerned for the younger infants left on the floor that could easily be hurt by the older ones while the teacher wasn’t paying attention. 4.There was never consistency in the date or amount of automatic withdrawal from my account.Tuition was withdrawn the month after we left and it took 20 days to receive a refund. I’m very happy to report that since changing daycares he has put the weight back on (his current daycare feeds him breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks a day), is taking great naps (from the first day in the new center), I've received a detailed report on the drastically reduced no. of bruises/scratches, a complete change in demeanor and I now have teachers who take an active role in the development of my child.
