This is the place to go to get yourself pampered at a reasonable price.
Sure...it's a beauty school, but it's a top notch beauty school. I'd visited another school in the past and was essentially expecting the same "so-so to umm, pretty good" service. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Each time I've arrived for my appointment they've addressed me by name. And trust me, it's not that I'm there every weekend. I'm always offered water and a comfortable place to sit down. I typically arrive a few minutes prior to my appointment but have never had to wait past my appointment time.
I've personally only had wax hair removal or facials done at SFIEC, however they offer hair care as well. They also sell a very nice line of products.
The atmosphere is professional and relaxing. All the estheticians are friendly; they make you feel comfortable.
Short of paying three times as much elsewhere, I'll happily pick SFIEC before another "professional" salon.
Parking in the vicinity is limited or metered. You can take BART to Powell Street and walk the few blocks. It's approximately a 15-20 minute walk depend in on your pace.
