Businiess name:  Foxy's Health & Racquet Club

Review content:
Yeah, I'm a Foxy Lady. I'll admit it. I've been a member of this health club (formerly called Spa Lady) for about 12 years. It's in an old building, in a deteriorating but fairly centralized area of town, on Florida near Sherwood. I'll be honest with you. It's one of the cheapest health clubs in town. And they've recently upped their rates to close to $50 a month. They require a contract, at least one year, but a 2 year contract brings the price down a little. They have a small child care area, staffed by two sweet ladies who have been there for years, Ms. Vicky and Ms. Betty. They have a few cribs, a TV, some books and toys, and a Little Tykes slide/play structure. They used to have some video games in a separate area for bigger kids but I'm not sure if they still have them. To use the child care area, you have to sign up when you sign your contract, and it's an additional fee...plus they sort of expect you to tip the ladies. They'll page you if the kids get fussy or have a dirty diaper. As I mentioned earlier, the club is located in an older building, but I think the owners have done a good job of hiding it in the interior. There's a fairly new pampering area that includes a massage area and I think tanning beds (I've never used those services), and of course those are an additional fee. The paint is pretty new, too -- I guess I'm trying to say they keep the place up very well. There are plenty of what we used to call Nautilus machines -- basic weight/resistence machines, and there are some electronic weight machines in the back that spell out on the machine exactly how to use them. There are some free weights and balls, lots of treadmills and stationary bikes, and my favorite part is that those are hooked into the sound system so you can bring your headphones and listen while you watch one of the 6 TVs (each on different channels) or you can choose to listen to one of the music channels while you work out. Need a personal trainer? Those are available for an extra fee. You can also print out a personalized daily workout (again for an extra fee). There are various classes taught throughout the week, check the schedule. These are included in your cost. Water aerobics is a popular one. Speaking of the water area, the pool is heated in the winter and nice and cool in the summer. It's located in a completely enclosed (but roofless) courtyard in the center of the building, which minimizes wind and gives you total privacy. There are noodles and other swim equipment available for your use, and of course lots of deck chairs. You may want to use their upstairs tanning deck; some ladies choose to go topless there. Be careful -- the steps are a little narrow and they can be hot in summer so wear your flip-flops. Just inside from the pool area, there's a small sauna, a large steamroom, and a good-sized whirlpool. Showers are nearby. A couple of last notes: if you're intimidated by treadmills (some older folks are), there's a walking track upstairs in the club with a sign posted that tells you how many laps you have to walk for a mile. Also, the club sells soft drinks and some wonderful smoothies. Bring a lock for your locker, but remember to take it off when you leave or they'll cut it off. And I would also use a little common sense if you visit late a night -- park near the entrance, lock your car, don't leave a purse inside -- I've heard a few stories of break-ins over the years. In summary: Nothing terribly fancy, but if you're looking for a ladies'-only club where you'll feel at home, with a relaxed atmosphere and all the necessities without the big price of their competitors, consider Foxy's Fitness for Women. I've been a member for many, many years and I love the place!
