Mixed experience here too. My cat had blood in his urine so we brought him in for a detailed test. We told them to keep the cat for as long as it would take.
They called later that it was done and we could pick him up. We did and when the tests were back they were inconclusive. The reason given was because since the cat wasn't going, they had to go up his ureter with a needle to get a sample. Often, they explained, this creates a tear that puts blood in the urine.
So, to confirm whether the first test was right in spotting blood in the urine, they gave a second test, that if it came back positive was still inconclusive? A test that itself can cause blood in the urine?
They generated a $71 fee for the test, and then another fee for a retest, this time without a needle. I was left with a bad feeling in my gut over this and tried to call Dr. Tyson for an explanation and a credit of the fee, but he would never return my call.
