Review content:
I hired Sherman Oaks Tree Service because I was impressed with the credentials on their website. Just because a business has been around for more than 30 years or has good standing with the BBB does not mean you should hire them!!!!!!!! I hired them on June 10th to work on June 11th. I was quoted $2,000 for two days work of brush clearance. I thought that seemed reasonable given the difficult sloping of my property in the hills. I was under the impression Greg, the field manager would be around at some point to check in on his workers. He did not warn me there would be a very large crew of 10 guys- none of whom I could communicate with enough to feel comfortable. As I nervously watched them work a fight broke out between two of them. I called Greg on the phone in a panic and he calmed my nerves, saying they were just horsing around and he has known most of the workers for 20 years, goes camping with them and told me they were all good guys. 5 hours later the job was done. It did not take the 2 days as estimated. Because the estimate became a binding agreement when I ordered the job to be done I did not complain. I gave one of the workers (per Greg's approval) the check for $2,000. I figured maybe with all the man power it did not take as long as if there were only 5 guys working and I did not want anyone to get stiffed or start an argument. The next day an incident occurred which made me question the workers. I called Greg to ask him a few questions about the guys who were at my house and he proceeded to tell me he had fired one of them because they had a very bad record! I could not believe he actually divulged this information- he told me he sent someone who he did not feel comfortable working for him to my home. He promised me he would follow up. I called him to follow up and he never called me back. I continued to try and track him down but he NEVER RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS! Fast forward almost 4 MONTHS LATER. I got a random phone call from Terri at Sherman Oaks Tree Service. She wanted to know where my check was from the job they did in June. It is now almost 4 months later and she had no clue where my check was. When I reminded her of what a horrible experience I had with her company she again confirmed they fired the worker in question and she promised to call me to follow up on the status of the check. I got no follow up from Terri my fianc? and I landed in NY on September 1st to find that Sherman Oaks Tree Service had FINALLY deposited our check-after I told Terri to please follow up with me. Now I realize they are well within their rights to do this. I called their office and got Tom on the phone. He listened calmly to me as I vented to him about my horrible experience with their company. He promised he would get to the bottom of all this and that he would have someone call me back. Of course I did not get a call back. I called Tom again this Tuesday (9/6) and he gave me a crazy story that one of the workers leaving my house got into a near fatal car crash. I spoke to Greg the day after the workers left my house and two days after the workers left my house and this felt like a rather large piece of the puzzle not to mention. And Terri- who had been aware of what went on failed to mention this rather serious piece of information as well. So I now have just got on the phone with Tom again who told me that Greg tried to make amends with me over all this WHICH IS A TOTAL LIE. HE HAS NOT RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS. I told Tom- if Greg had proposed a resolution I would have taken it. I am in complete unrest because nobody has tried to right any of these wrongs. It is very disturbing to have such a terrible experience with a company that pretends to be so reputable. Was this review helpful? 00 Report Abuse | Subscribe to
