Review content:
This is the first review I've written here- I felt compelled to after reading the incredibly snobby bashing of Alfa by another member. A friend and I ""stumbled"" (not in the drunken way, thanks) upon Alfa last Saturday night. We were looking for a light meal, good drinks, and reasonable prices in a casual chic setting. Alfa was almost perfect. It did not suffer from the tacky pretension so frequent in the area, nor did it play the ""look how expensive we can make OUR menu!"" game. The cocktail I chose is called a Persian, which has the flavour of spiced apple. It was absolutely delicious, generously sized, and reasonably priced at $8. We ordered the Mediterranean plate and calamari to share. The Med plate was exactly as expected, and very good. The calamari was served with a tasty salsa, but was unfortunately slightly overcooked, and therefore rubbery. This was the only disappointment of the night, as service was great as well. Since we didn't try much the menu had to offer, I'm certainly willing to give it another chance. So if you don't have the fortitude to go to Rouge EVERY night, Alfa is a great alternative.
Pros: good, creative drinks; reasonable prices; nice ambiance
Cons: overcooked calamari
