We love the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. It is affordable and loads of fun. They offer the regular zoo attractions, like elephants and monkeys. But they also offer some special Louisiana attractions too, like alligators.
It is a big zoo, so it is hard to cover every inch of it in one day. They have a train that runs around the zoo, which is a good way to see parts of the zoo that you don't want to walk to.
Also, you can buy tickets to the Aquarium and take the boat from the zoo to the Aquarium.
They have food establishments on site in case you get hungry.
