Back in the day, Slanted Door was a slightly over-trendy restaurant in our neighborhood. Then, one day, they papered over the windows and put up a sign that said closed for renovations. Instead of opening up in the same place, they got some famous architect to design them a humdinger of a space over at the Ferry Building. Now, the much bigger, much trendier, more expensive than it used to be Slanted Door serves up its nouveau Vietnamese cuisine that's just as good as the original. Things I love there: anything ahi tuna, lemon grass tofu, spring rolls… though even as great as they are, still not as good as the cheapies over at Tu Lan.
