Husband received a gift card for his birthday. We went to this restaurant to use the gift card. This had been a place that we enjoyed in the past but had gone down in service and food quality the last few times there. Service was once again very slow. waited forever. sat with empty drinks most of our meal. food was once again mediocre. catfish. really fishy, seafood cakes really fishy. sampler platter came barely cooked . breading white/not golden brown. i was so glad that we were not paying for this meal. and then when the check came we were informed that they were not accepting gift cards. they're were not any signs informing us of that posted. they claim it is on their website. unfortunately i didn't go on their website. the reason for not accepting the cards we were told was that they had a manager/employees that were taking peoples money, pocketing the money, loading the gift card, pocketing the gift card and giving the customer a card that was not loaded and had no value. we gave the server our gift card with the receipt (proof of payment). we were told that no one ever brings a receipt and they would call the owner. once they called the owner and were told that it didnt matter that we had a receipt ,our card numberdidn't match the number on the receipt. of course not!!! that's how they ran their scam!! so this is how it works. the owner is handling the situation by not accepting gift cards. That means as a customer that you on good faith bought gift cards for friends/relatives and handed the business your money. they gave you the card. You are out of the money you spent. the person you thought you were treating is out of the money for the meal that you bought for them and they have to pay for it....no signs. no warning. we were so upset that the owner knew we were scammed and didn't care. we had nothing to hide. we weren't in on this scam..it was all on their end and they knew it and didn't care. we even called the police. we ended up paying half. so our meal cost our friend 50.00. it cost us 20.00. Dixie kitchen and bait shop. manager/employees/owner received 70.00. what a scam. i will never go there again. tha'ts how the owner values my business. ha! so the SCAM continues!
