love the paper (overall good selection) but not the attitude/feeling 9/9/2008

I have been to Memory Depot many times over many years. I like the store. But, I have always been disappointed with the staff. I often expect local stores to be more friendly than franchises, but this is not the case here. The owners of the store are fine, seem nice. But, I usually feel like I have walked into a members only club with a temporary guest pass. The hired help could be much nicer and more helpful. I have walked around and around the store without being asked if I need help. I once called on the phone to ask if they had more of a product I had purchased there and I felt like my call was bothering them- that is how they come across. The also come across as snooty and judgmental. When I am working on a project, I will ask for other peoples advice or opinion and I am happy to hear suggestions. However, the store attitude is- if you want something and we don't have it then what you want is inferior and not good enough for us. A simple- sorry we don't carry any of that would suffice. They should have the attitude that different people like different things. If I need some paper that is thinner than card stock, I don't need to be told that I can find ""less quality"" somewhere else, as I was told. They don't really seem to care as much as the help does at other stores in town (scrapbook store or other), when they can't provide for you. You'll just get ""no"" as an answer and never ""I'm sorry we don't have any"", or, ""Sorry we couldn't help you today""--- that doesn't happen. more
