We have been followers of Ticoz for years--starting with Ibiza in Scottsdale...then moving to Fez on Central and then trying Ticoz over the summer. The food is outstanding, and the ambience is restfull yet energetic. My hubby and I went alone the first time, and have since taken many other couples and friends to Ticoz. All who have tried it have declared the Curried Rice ""the best"" and while I personally LOATH calamari, I did try a bite and it was not awfull (this is a rave on squid from me). The other three Calamari-eaters in the group declared it to be THE BEST THEY EVER HAD. It was tender--not the least bit rubbery and very delicate in flavor. The pinapple salsa is wonderful, as are the entres. I have gotten the curried rice with chicken several times and it is big enough to guarantee at least one lunch leftover. The Barbacoa is tender and smokey and delicious. We love the tamales as well as the lettuce wraps. I know every trendy place on the planet does a lettuce wrap, but the owners of Ticoz and Fez have managed to bring something new to the table each time they reinvent the wrap. Happy hour specials are generous and the margaritas and martinis are unique. The Mojito is sweetened with brown sugar and that gives it an earthy twist. We always plan for a bout 3 hours at Ticoz--in part due to the mojitos, but mostly because the food and the restaurant are just such a great place to pass an evening--feeling like you are among friends even when you are there on your own.
Pros: Always seating early in the evening. Friendly attentive staff. Amazing food & Drink
Cons: Parking lot can be full
