I wasn't really sure what I was getting into when I joined the dojo. A friend had encouraged me to try a martial art. Brooklyn Aikikai happened to be the closest to where I lived, so I dove in head first. What I found was so much more than I could have expected. The dojo is a frantastic community. You get to know everyone there through social events, like potluck dinners and traveling to Aikido seminars. But that's just the icing on the cake. The Aikido training is excellent. Savoca Sensei is a great teacher. He'll challenge you, as well as, support you. There are also many senior students that help you to learn the art. The training is physically challenging and you'll definately improve you strength and flexibility. I been there more than a year now and it's been a great addition to my life. It's such a better experience than just ""going to the gym.""
